    Another gem guys. Both the video and the knife. Thanks for taking the time to do this. - Bryan

    Epic review on what I'm sure is a proud purchase. One day I'll splurge on an amazing neck knife to replace my decent but not great BK14.

    This is a really fantastic review. Much better than 99% of knife reviews on this website. Cinematography is great, too.
    I'm totally going to get myself one of these at the same time as an Aurora!

    Excellent review among the unfortunately huge amount of nonsense here on TH-cam. I particularly liked the practical & safety tips you interject. Just ordered a Bark River Bravo EDC in Elmax steel. I like to buy my knives 'pretty' and make them 'gorgeous' through use. Think theirs will suit my needs. Cheers!

    I have a bark river Aurora with that kind of sheath. I don't use it but if i ever do, I'll put a d ring on it to lower it

  • @dtownknives
    @dtownknives 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Very good review. That sheath looks very similar to the sheath for my Bark River Mini-Fox River; the only difference is the firesteel loop is not on my sheath. The reason one of the loops of leather stops higher than the other is so that the knife can be carried for cross-draw, on the left side, but angled to be easy to draw with the right hand. The middle slit allows for vertical carry on the right side. I used to find it much more comfortable in the cross draw configuration at around 3 o'clock., when carried vertically my mini fox river would uncomfortably dig into my love handle. Now, after gaining weight it does the same in cross draw. I have taken to using both loops to carry it on my right side angled rearward. It makes for a slightly more awkward draw, but more comfortable carry; maybe carrying that way could also make your knife more comfortable.
    Sorry for the wall of text, and, once again, fantastic review.

    Thanks for this nice review, you have done it very well.
    I simply love the knives of Bark River and own a few of them. My favorite is the Aurora.

    Hey man...great knife review. I am contemplating buying either the Bark River Bravo 1 or 1.5. Don't own any A2 steel knives. I was also considering the same in the S30V as well?

    i'm pretty sure for the belt loop on the sheath, the second loop is meant for you to angle it as a cross-draw on the left side.

    WoW, My first set of Bark Ruver Knives, all had the Ghost Green Jade G-10 Handles, in A2, they are the Bravo 1, Bravo 2, and the Golok, and my Neck Knife, is the Woodland Soecial, it really complements my set, and I found, I was using it alot, my second B.R. Set are all Black G-10 Handles, and in 3V, and I'm not sure which knife I will get for my Neck Knife, just to be a little different, but, it too has the Bravo 1, Bravo 1.5, and the Bravo 3, that Woodland Special served me well, and it still will, great little knife.

    Kinda looks like the first belt loop you tried was more designed for an angled carry. Did you try that? I'd be interested in seeing it worn on the angle. It's a fairly nice sheath, though I prefer a dangler, myself.
    All in all, it's a cool little knife.

    Last post, what else would you want out of a small kmife, mine preforms this good too, traps, feathersticks, making stakes, can be done with it, for batoning, I like more of a 5" blade, my Ratmandu comes to mind, much better for making stakes too, but for a neck knife carry, I find I'm using it alot, because it's handy around my neck, it does preform well, and you can't argue what I see on the video, it's a great little knife, once you get use to the feel of it, you'll like it even more, as far as I'm concerned, it passed your test, and mine, I'll give it a "A", minus the plus, only because you do have to get use to the handle, but it does preform well, once you use it, you won't regret it, and the A2 steel, is awesome in this size knife, the Convex on this knife, I don't think a scandi would work better, atleast I find it to be true comparing it to my Top's Mini Scandi, which I carry, for my EDC carry, and it too is a great little knife, a little smaller than the Woodland, but the scandi doesn't out preforms my Bark River Woodland Special, get one, " say you ", get one.

    Hey Krik, hows this one going? I was just about to pull the trigger on a similar Batk River blade in 3V steel, and then read a bunch of reports about really 'chippy' edges on the blade forums, so i chickened out! Did yours go well?

    Defenetly not a knife to stab with, but for wood craft, it's an ideal size, I like alot of things about the Woodland Special, but I did have to get use to that small hump at the very end of the handle, other than that, I find, I use this knife alot, when I'm bush crafting, I really enjoy it, but one thing I'm finding out for myself, I luv a choil, two that come to mind, is my Busse Son of Badger, and the Swamp Rat Rodent 4, but would recommend the Woodland Special to others, in a heart beat, but with guys with catcher mit hands, try it out first, get one in your hands, it will work, but you have to get use to it, as for quality, steel, it's an awesome knife, and it becomes an extention of your hand, but I had to get use to the feel of it, like I had to get use to my Rodent Series Swamp Rats, that lightning bolt handle shape looked odd at first, but especially on my Rodent 7, one of my most comfortable knives I use, and it's the same handle that's on my Rodent 9, again, great video, I've been watching this video a few times now, and I enjoy it every time I watch it, good job, Thanx for show casing one of my favorite knives, Thanx.

    Convex grinds have to be made by hand (by someone who knows what they are doing). Convex is more expensive, but IMO is the strongest sharpest grind available. To sharpen just strop it before it gets too dull. You cannot go wrong with BR. Worth the money. You can easily make a dangler sheath with a piece of paracord and a survival bracelet (don't have to take the belt off). Another nice knife/gear review. You know what you are doing!

  • @mistersmith3986
    @mistersmith3986 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great vid, but I'll have to disagree woth you 100% about a convex grind not being good for woodworking or even bushcrafting. It just takes a different kid of skill. I'm sure with your experience, you can master it in no time.
