Looks like the crawlspace under my home. Not perfect yet, but it is only a matter of time before this thing will do the job better and faster than a human.

You may be right, but it will always need a friend!

If a human needs to operate the robot it would be faster and more efficient to let the human spray the insulation. Speaking as a pur insulation sprayer with 9 years of experience

Not to mention all the wires, central heating pipes, bricks, wastepipes, general debris under an actual real house that a human can work around but not a robot... This is obviously a pretend floor built for the purposes of filming this video rather than an actual house.

Yes but can fit under thr floor boards?

Good point. How do you spray under the floor? Do you use a long flexible hose to get into all the tight spaces, and is there a method that doesn't restrict ventilation in older buildings?

@@underfloorinsulationglasgo2380 I guess a robotic snake or millipede might be able to overcome the problems with pipes and bricks, rather than a wheeled vehicle.

it's not about can it do it better... it is more about can it do it so you can be safe! The idea behind the technology was not to replace humans to make more money... it was to replace the need for us to go under the floor boards and risk long term health issues and potential loss of earning as we would only have a small working life window to operate in. These robots allow more people to enter the workplace and develop transferable skills and experience a longer happier life too :)

Not true to real under floor at all

Good point Jon. It would be useful to know what many underfloor spaces are like, and how something like this could be made more adaptable. In my old UK Victorian home I took up the boards and there was just earth underneath. I know there should be a gap for ventilation of the space, but what sort of underfloor spaces have you experienced (depth, width of supporting timbers), and what are most common?

You're right... this was a test rig so that the camera could be placed in there as the video kit was too big!!! :) We have many other images of real applications and the effect is much the same but with more spiders and rubble... our bots have gotten over their fear of small spaces but still struggle with the occasional spider panic...:P

over the past year these little beauties have become much quicker, but you are right to point out they are not faster than hand spraying. We would say now they are on par but the design was always about compliance, safety and providing healthier working conditions.
