Scottparts - Introduction to Scott Engine Barrels

A brief run through 4 different types of cylinder barrel fitted to Scott motorcycles. These are;: early blind head for flat top (or square edge) pistons, later blind head for domed pistons, Paramount block, and the most common type, a detachable head type.

My father described my grandfathers Scott as having access doors at either end of the crankcase which allowed access to the big ends. The cranks were pins coming out from one side. I'm know motorcycle engines but my father was less knowledgeable. Does this description of the Scott sound right I'd like to know?
