In my dads Albion Reiver in the 70 s -We’d come out of the quarries in somerset and climb up a hill on the way to a newly being built M5 -We would slowly come to juddering halt ,apply handbrake and rev the knackers off it ,then slowly start juddering forward again accompanied by a burning clutch smell.
In a previous life,I was a squaddie, and the one phrase that we had rammed down our throats from day one was "The 7 P's"....Proper Preparation and Planning Prevents P**s Poor Performance"....which,loosely translated, means, never go anywhere without a Pot Noodle 😋
Been up and down the road to Scotland loads of times, it’s where my mum comes from, love Tebay services, always stopped to feed the ducks. Doing my HGV atm, found ur channel and loving the vids, thanks, keep up the great work!🎉
Welcome in bud thanks for the sub, Tebay is one of my favourite services to stop at, it’s a little expensive but it’s a nice one to stop with the family
Randomly come across your channel. Subbed! Great content. Good insight into some of the issues lorry drivers have to on a day to day basis. Might binge a few of your vlogs tomorrow!
Hi that was Hamilton that you picked up your southbound load and not Motherwell Where you were parked if you had walked back behind the shop heading south would have took you to a big retail park with McDs KFC Greggs etc That roundabout was the Raith interchange where you were in the lane to M74
Hamilton is Northbound, there’s a McDonalds, WH Smith etc but usually rammed at night can struggle to get parked. Bothwell is slimmer picking but usually quieter.
Hello Darren , new subscriber, You said you had a bit of P.O.A. to help with your working time . What are you actually doing/ not doing to get your POA time , and what is period of availability and when can you use it while out on the road ? Thanks mate Jason
Thanks for the sub Jason and welcome in POA is used when available for work but not actually working- for an example when your waiting on a loading bay to be unloaded or loaded or waiting for a period of time
J38 Tebay stopped there South bound with my dad many years ago had steak and kidney pie chips and beans not a bad little place. Surprised you've not seen it on TV as its got its own little farm shop but have heard its a little expensive now like most service stations. Hope your little man gets better soon buddy take care.

@@Life_of_Darren aye they might have nicked your actual truck 😅 I grew up just up from Raeburn brick. There's a decent wee cafe in the middle of the estate you drove around mentioning sleeping there. Raith interchange is poorly marked, tell you right hand lane which becomes the middle lane when you actually want the further away lane 🤔

There was a snap services 10 minutes from Hamilton. Agree it’s a shit services most in Scotland are the same

I always stop on the northbound side as it has more to offer etc, but as you said bud it’s really expensive for what it is
@@Life_of_Darren yes mate I've seen loads of vlogs of truckers saying the same thing even the parking for what you get is a rip off

The place you picked the bricks up mate is quite rough between burnbank and hillhouse.
So I done right by not staying on that estate 🙈

@@jonnyholton2196 I noticed the same thing with the raith interchange, it was a nightmare to try and get around that when it was busy.

I’ve tried a few of the 24v kettles and they take way too long to heat up the water
can't you cook outside the truck? that way your cab stays fresh and smells good, not smell of food.
If it’s anything that may give a strong Oder then I’ll always cook outside, but noodles etc isn’t too bad
