    Thank you for such an enlightening summery of the history of Samba. I knew it was of Africans originating it via Brazil, but that really filled out the gaps. ( Also, Lovely to hear your fluent English without an American accent, superbly enunciated words, better than most British nowadays. Best wishes to you. I'll subscribe to see if you have any videos of you dancing the Samba. Cheers.

    Beautifully done. Its interesting that Samba de Roda isn't included in this cultural narrative. It's good I'm doing my PHD on samba influences in Australia eh :-). We mostly had Northerners (Pernabucanos and Bahianos) influence our samba here and we reached the same destination. Almost like the northerners migrating to Rio early last century. I haven't managed to say hi to you in person yet but will do so next time you are in Australia. Once again awesome video. I do some of the translating for Pablo's tours and I have to say they are incredible, very personlised and each time is different depending on the interest of the people there xoxo beijos

      You're so right! This video is "quite old". That's why I felt compelled to do a #2 and #3 of this series. I didn't include Samba de Roda though, since I know more about Rio Samba. I am certain, however, that eventually I will make a video about it and when I do, I would love to use your thesis as a base for my research! Get in touch :-*

    Obs: tô usando seus vídeos para aprender inglês, treinando contigo a parte do listen .. Thank you! 😘

    oh my god! Meu Deus... Dios mio! I discovered you very recently on an Instagram post, and I was astonished.... you are awesome! And now you sneaked your way into my TH-cam feed, and I am so pleased to hear to talk English so well. Fantastic! I am chilean, buy have lived in Australia many years. I learned to dance salsa in Melbourne thanks to the Colombians, Cubans, Venezuelans, etc here...and then I also learned the basic samba steps thanks to my Brasilian friends. Samba was addictive, and it took me to Rio where I have been four times. I always say I was born in Chile, raised in Australia buy my heart is in Brasil. Your dance culture is amazing.. and I wish more people around the world danced like you guys do.. because you dance from your heart! Thankyou so much for this video...muito obrigado!

    Hello what about Ó Abre Alas the first first carnival march song ?

    • @sambaworld3943
      @sambaworld3943  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! As you pointed out yourself, it's a march. It's does not have the same musical structure as "pelo telefone". I think in "pelo telefone", even though its obviously "old", it's easy to imagine where all other instruments would go to transform it into the Samba we know today. This is harder with the march.

    You explained it exactly how I know it also and how it was formed. One fun fact:
    The Lion King used the name Simba, coming from Semba (Happy). Which later turned into Samba.
