Thanks for the review, I've used this along with other reviews to make my decision to buy one of these for my camper van - it comes highly recommended by the vanlife community but it's good to see a more detailed breakdown before pulling the trigger on committing to a purchase, especially when you're used to picking up microwaves from the supermarket shelf for £50 as opposed to spending £400 (340 in this case as there's a discount in the UK on the stainless model right now) on a renowned model

I have figured out that I need to put pizza directly on the wire rack that comes with the combo oven, otherwise it will be uncooked on the bottom, like you said. But if you put it on convection oven setting and then put it directly on the wires, then the hot air circulates around (much like my mother in law 😂) and cooks it on the bottom also

09:53 Regarding oven mode: there is a heat element at the back with the fan, so it can effectively be a fan/convection oven, it isn't just using the top heat element for everything. Apart from the back, the oven is completely uninsulated though unfortunately.

Great review! I just had a few questions though. First, why can't you cook with food directly placed on the trivet? For example, in that video where you made the whole baked chicken, why couldn't you have put the chicken on top of the trivet and the trivet inside the crisper pan? That would have elevated the chicken out of its juices and allowed airflow underneath? The seemed like it would've been a better method, but there must be some reason why you feel that was prohibited. 2nd, could you heat up a leftover slice of pizza and not have the crust come out soggy? If so, how would you do that?
I cannot speak for how it would for your needs. You would need to see how it works for your needs. I am not good with on the spot suggestions involving other people's money 🙂
I know air dry mode preheat uses the microwave to preheat the grill pan. Do you know what it does after preheat? Does just the top grill element get hot? Perhaps grill plus oven, or perhaps microwave plus grill plus oven?

Sad there’s no instructions for the grill function As for Bacon i’ve always lined it in paper towels above and below the bacon so it absorbs the grease. What if I forget to take the trivet out when microwaving? Can the trivet be used on the trivet inside the crisp pan Can a pizza stone be used for pizza, or just the trivet?

I just bought a Combi and now trying to learn how to use it. I did notice that the trivet fits the crisper pan exactly. Is there an application where the trivet would be used inside the crisper to aid cooking to the bottom of the food?
I was watching this because Costco in the UK has this on sale for £300 atm. I was wondering the same thing when you were discussing the air fryer issues with it not having a vented crisper pan - my initial thought was just stick the trivet in the crisper pan to allow air flow - it should through the process of convection (not talking about convection oven setting but the scientific principle) effectivly move the reflected heat from the crisper pan onto the bottom of the product. Does the manual implicitly tell you NOT to use the trivet with the crisper pan when air frying??
I have this oven , and use a trivet almost identical to the one included. My trivet has legs slightly longer than the included trivet, and the crisping function is significantly better. Works fine. You need to experiment.

One problem with all the small convection ovens is the limit on how much power they can use. On a regular oven, they have a 50 amp breaker and can draw a lot of power when needed, but the small ovens are limited to a (mostly) 15 amp circuit. Some models require a 20 amp service, and a lot of people don't have those. With a new "tool" you have to learn what it can and can't do. Nice oven, but way too many features. Give me a touch pad to input what I need.
Why carn't you put food on the trivet if you put trivet inside the pan with the legs up then put food on to the trivet it would airfry a lot better as hot air could get under the food? have you tried this?
why not air fry with the food on the rack, and the rack in the cispyplate thing? Surely in no way is that plate a requirement for the air fryer to work?

But you think, that this won't work well. At first, I'm really curious how well it would work, so this could be a fun video to watch. At second I don't understand what the difference to a toaster oven is? A bigger grill element? I just thought, that you can turn the grill on and pop some toasts under it. Is the grill/broiler not strong enough? I mean the steak didn't went well, but that is a whole other story than browning some toasts or melting some cheese on a toast.
@@FrediVosberg people do make toast in convection microwaves. There isn't a toast function, but you can use the grill function to toast bread. You just have to flip the bread over and experiment. People have had convection microwaves in Japan for a while, they're kinda new to the western market but because of the "air frying" craze, they're entering western markets and marketed as "combi" units. It's a shame there aren't alot of reviews for them over here.

Some cookers simply can't do certain things well.
