What an episode, production ig continues to excel at the adaptation of kaiju no.8!!! Kafka is such a great mc, doesn’t hesitate for a second to oust himself and protect his squad.
Btw I hope ppl understand, there has NEVER been a friendly kaiju in this world. And they already know kaiju 9 can skin walk as a human. Of course Kafka/kaiju 8 just saved them, but who’s to say this isn’t a ploy to infiltrate the defense force and really destroy them from the inside? As a military defending humanity, you HAVE to treat him with caution. The fact they are taking him into custody instead of straight blasting onsight shows they know that he *could* be a helpful asset.

considering their aces are all spent, they probably wouldn't just blast him but more likely monitor him until reinforcements arrive, so the fact that they confront him in such a state shows that they're already being fairly lenient.

I very much felt like Kafka could have hid somewhere before transforming, both when he wanted to save Hoshina, and then when he wanted to save everybody. But that’s okay, I’ll let the story cook and plot progress.

The kaiju killed people in this world for hundred of years. Even if they saved them, there is now way to treat someone who is a kaiju like a hero a second after reveal. He still got some nice treatment that they just took him into custody. They didnt even try to harm him

Not exactly random. This Kaiju has been tailed for months, and it's only sited near other kaijus and *suspiciously* protecting a handful of civilians. There have been no recorded fatalities under kaiju number 8.
Transformed into her best friend? Lol, really? If this was the case, they probably wouldn't be alive long enough to arrest him, and he could've let the city get nuked. Technically, they have no reason to suspect him as being hostile, aside from being far too powerful for them to control. What they are doing is simply protocal. I do agree that it wouldn't be realistic for Kafka to not be arrested, I just think your logic doesn't really justify his arrest.

-A little girl claimed a Kaiju killed the one that attacked her mother.
-3 months later, the entrance exams get attacked, caused by a talking Kaiju.
-Kafka's vital signs briefly disappear during the attack.
-Aftermath of the attack shows the mysterious Kaiju from 3 months ago was present.
-3 weeks later, the talking Kaiju causes another attack, revealing he can hide as a human.
-This attack happens to be on the one night Kafka is not in bed.
-With a power reading matching one present from the exams, Kaiju 8 briefly fights the talking Kaiju.
-Displaying human-like traits, Kaiju 8 flees the area once the battle is over.
-The next night, the Academy gets attacked, by a talking Kaiju, when Kafka is not in bed, again.
@willfanofmanyii3751 Well, to summarize this evidence, the JSDF and the Kaiju defense force already identified the Kaiju responsible for the fatalities and large scale destruction. The appearances varied by magnitude, if I recall correctly. The guy above was trying to label Kafka as a potential hostile. In which I replied that it wouldn't make sense to do so. In the end, he was arrested because they didn't understand his motives. Also, because of the fact that he's the strongest Kaiju to exist. Realistically, it would take everything they have to put him down, so I wouldn't let him walk around either. The nature of his existence is simply confusing to those who eliminate kaiju on sight. While it's fair to not trust him completely, common sense must play a role in investigation.
