Nice bonus episode for me! I somehow managed to miss this one, so I watched it today. Excellent video series, very comprehensive and great explanatory dialogue too. 👍

I'm a latecomer to this playlist and a potential E-Type owner. I'm thoroughly enjoying the content. Nicely done, nicely explained and lots of clear detail. Thank you for sharing!

I am really enjoying your series of videos, an excellent common sense approach to doing a rebuild, please keep them coming.

Thanks very much Ben. I’m never sure whether the episodes are too long, have enough detail or too much. Great to hear it’s working for you. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks for watching.

Absolutely brilliant videos, I did exactly the same as you in the 2000s,unfortunately mine was a lot more rusty than yours, due to one thing and another I sold it 3/4s done, stripped the irs but never got it built back up, put floors in it, engine rebuild, front frames, I was using it every day but clutch went and one thing led to another.

Thank you very much, glad you’re enjoying them. 😀 There’s so much to car restoration, I’ve got plenty still to do but making good progress.

@@fossewayclassiccarworkshop I know, I did exactly the same as you, but the body was absolutely full of filler, looked great when I bought it, for instance the doors, by the time I'd got to solid metal, nothing of the door remained.

My coup is a 69. Interesting to see the differences on your 67. Thank you for the detailed explanations as you disassemble this car. Lucky for you that there isn't a lot of rust or crash damage. Those washers under the door window clamps are spacers to set the window height and alignment. Just another thing on the E-type you can adjust and then wish you hadn't. My recommendation; keep the old rubbers, don't put in new, too hard, original was better.

Thanks Hugh, I'll certainly hold onto the rubbers for now. Some perish over time but that quarter light seal seemed pretty good so I might well refit. Yes, there's a lot of 'finessing' that wouldn't be acceptable on a modern production line. Each car will be slightly different. I'm finding on my '68 S-Type that I need to adjust the rear door frames as they're not sealing properly at the moment for a similar reason.

Whilst I am not one those extremists that believe cars should only be painted in the colour they left the factory, I do think it best to pick a colour from the manufacturers chart for that year, rather as you would if you were buying a new E Type in period. Jaguar did a few nice colours in that era, including some lovely metallics. I am keen to see this cars progress!

Hi Ralph, the plan is to return the car to its original opalescent silver grey, not only because it’s original but also because it’ll look even better. Thanks for watching, it’s a privilege to work on this car.

Just wondering why you didnt show the removal of the chrome strips from the roof drip rails, did you mess them up trying to get them off ?

Good question. The driver’s side strip was flapping around when I collected the car and the other side wasn’t on very well either so they came off the car from early on. I’m going to have to get new replacements which might not be ideal but I’ll have to give it go!

i'm surprised that the car was ever any other color than red. they were thorough with the paint job if the doors are any indication...

Yes it was a fairly thorough repaint. I am finding places where the original silver grey can be found though so I’ll be matching to that. Thanks for watching! ☺️
