I think you misunderstand me. Playing hit the road jack staccato with chords in the first position is something any child can learn in five minutes. But playing Ray songs like Foxx learned to do is something you just can't do without being a decently skilled pianist. And being that, you have no use at looking at the piano. I never said that you couldn't look at the piano if you were playing ray songs, I mean that when you could play them like he did, you wouldn't have to.
