- In 2014, it was announced that Tomy would be the new master toy partner for Sonic The Hedgehog. They started making merchandise for the Sonic Boom franchise in that year and from there it’s been a wild rollercoaster for the toy producer and consumers of their products. Tony has had to do something no other Sonic master toy partner has had to do, make toy lines for 3 different versions of Sonic The Hedgehog. Did this provide diversity and variety for quality Sonic The Hedgehog products, or did it make it convoluted and hinder the entire 5 year run? If Tomy spent the time they were using to make variants we could have gotten so many characters that were announced but never released
I agree on what you said. However I assume they made the variants to make more money to provide newer toys. But then again the variants are more slap on, I'd prefer their metallic versions.

sonichyperferrari yeah, Jakks is kinda bad. The sad thing is that Tomy were finally getting used to the style of sonic and knew what they were doing, but got cancelled.

Fun fact: Plans for a Big head Sticks and Cubot plush were being made as a part of wave 3 and even an emoji Amy plush was being made but they all got cancelled.
I have Sticks myself. But looking for the figure is gonna be a challenge for collectors.
I know right I only have that battle damaged Sticks figure they did and even then I only payed 60 for her.

I’m actually glad we got the Classic Laughing Sonic plush, the Ultimate Classic Sonic figure actually included the waving finger hands, the wide open mouth/muzzle, white closed eyes, and the fists for the mockup on the concept art on Sonic 1’s development and release

I remember seeing the 2018 catolog and I was excited and 2019 came and I searched stores and nothing no unboxing videos for the new modern figures I wondered what was up and then I saw a video of jakks pacific being the master toy partner and I just sat there for a moment and thought of what could’ve been for tomy sonic

Great overall review! You summarized Tomy's line really well! With that said, I think Tomy skipped out on the (Boom) Emoji Shadow, Eggman and Amy. There was suppose to be a Christmas classic sonic plush too. Wish we'd been able to see where they would have gone from there

TOMY Uk was showing up on its website modern super Sonic and Shadow figures.
Seeing the cancelled figures of modern Super Sonic, Amy 2-pack and Silver is quite depressing, imagine Tomy would've kept the license a bit longer and done more modern characters like Metal Sonic, Rouge, even Blaze and the Chaotix crew!

I was excited for the Morden super sonic cause super sonic is one of my favourite characters and when they didn’t release it when it was supposed to my heart sank I knew something was up and more months past and I knew that my most anticipated figure in this series was just cancelled and thank you Ricardo for making good points of lacking figures I honestly like the clear blue and yellow sonic and tails lol
Damn no wonder I couldn't find super sonic and a reissue sonic in the single pack. I was legit waiting for that to release but never seen or got them that was a major bummer... But to me personally jakks is doing an awesome job with the sonic franchise! Tomy was okay but I had a bunch of issues with them they break easy, paint would come off, joints were loose and some were super tight to where you couldn't even move them.. Can't wait for them articulated sonic figures from jakks!

I got a 4 pack of modern sonic, modern knuckles, modern tails, and classic sonic with a file with sonic forces pictures. I guess this was probably one of the last things they released because I got it in 2018. I guess they had to just release one more modern and classic thing before handing the toy license to jakks. Don't get me wrong I like jakks sonic figures but tomy was the first sonic toy line I have ever had and I had a jazwares black knight shadow figure but my collection began in 2016 with the sonic and Amy 2 pack for sonic boom. I still love tomy and I wished all of the modern figures where released that they promised. As well as the Amy and eggman 2 packs. I'll miss tomy because there figures I think where higher quality than jakks they feel more solid than jakks figures and overall better. So thanks Tomy for everything. And thank you for making this video

i think you forgot the Sonic Colors figure by Tomy
Tomy did a decent job and had some good sets but Jazzwares just had so many different characters, sets etc. That made it much more memorable and nostalgic. In terms of Jakks Pacific I love them alot and they do pretty great nintendo figures but I have a similar issue with them that I do with Tomy. Their figures just arent as detailed or articulated. They are great and so is Tomy but Jazzwares is just the best to me.

Wait, that Ultimate Classic Sonic figure already released? I read like months ago--up to a year ago that it had not been released. I even searched online for potential stock of the figure, and I found nothing.
And I was really looking forward to the Modern Super Sonic figure. His spines looked really awesome.
But I don't like the bendable figures from Jakks. The bendable limbs will wear out sooner or later. I rather have joints. And the Super Sonic figure has gross yellow arms.
