Visited the Lick Observatory while out in San Francisco, well worth the drive and time! Great video posted here but it was produced in 1998. It would be great to see an updated version of this.
Fascinating documentary - thanks for putting it up. I really enjoyed the part near the beginning about James Lick. He may have been vain as a peacock, so to speak, but actually he sounds like a much finer human being than the benefactor of the other great refractor, Charles Yerkes. I sure hope UC continues to fund this historical observatory!
