This dude Michael keen is a genius, both his lyrics and guitar skills are elite level. Yet I just now discovered another masterpiece from the faceless.
So I feel like this album was made right after there last release and ended up getting shelved until now. It sounds how music with in this genre did then and isn't "hip" to the sounds of today. That being said I do love this release just as much as everything this band has ever done. Proud of you The Faceless.
My boy told me to listen to this and one other song so I can hear the difference in production quality. Everything in this song is so fucking clear and so fucking brutal. 🤘🤘🤘
overlooked this song at first, still playing this album almost every day and this has become maybe my favorite song on the CD. the way the melodic parts almost seem sad still, or giving up make the whole depressing atmosphere of this album a really good listen. this won't please the PD part 2 people, but i think some of the songs on here will be looked at as great music. just wish this CD finished stronger.
@@xbl4ck7 I really like the album, but more than anything I'm just happy we got another album at all. It's not as good as Planetary Duality and Autotheism, but those albums are masterpieces of the genre. It's still a great album and I wouldn't be surprised if it's their last.
In all honesty the whole album is really damn good. Technical yet creative, and a breath of fresh air for tech death, with a lot of attention in detail and many groovy and catchy hooks. The only downsides are ts short duration and the too mechanical-sounding drums. Still an amazing album
I am in no way lowballing the album when I say this is my favorite song on the album. I can't explain it! I also commend them for the fantastic mixing. Lots of people seem to dislike the sharpness but the amount of studio time put into this record must have been tremendous. I love the innovation.
luv how each new album surpasses their old album, truly a gifted hard workin band. sux guitarist is letting his h e r o i n addiction get the best of him finally catching up 2 'em. its exactly like constructing your life like a house of cards. don't let the stressful b/s get the better of ya sir. taper off & get sum help, get on a 6month program preferably on suboxone. heavy user myself 2 & a half in the AM daily. next month goin down 1& a half & so fourth until im off subs. felt a lil high off my first couple of doses then nothing. subs are a great crutch letting me work 12hr shifts full time, completely dope sick free.
You sure you don't mean you wish someone else mastered it? The mix is really good. Only thing wrong with it is how fake the drums sound because I'm pretty sure Keene made Chason play on an electric kit and the drums are 100% sampled and not micd acoustically. Also the bass sounds great but almost like midi and the guitar sounds a bit over processed. I love everything else. I LOVE how clearly you can hear everything which is the whole point of a mix.
Yes definitely I mean the mix. Electric/programmed/sampled drums don't have to sound like that. Many of my favorite albums have drums completely programmed and they sound incredible(Periphery 1 for example). Also over processed guitars/compressed is during the mixing process. Mastering would just be finalizing the mix with multi band compressing and broadband EQing etc to adjust overall sound loudness and adjusting brightness/darkness. Mastering would enhance a very good mix not hurt it.
Tuesday, August 3, 2021 1:10pm Pacific Standard Time, Listening to Akeldama, Planetary Duality, Autotheism, In Becoming A Ghost EVERYDAY!! ANYONE ELSE?!
Keene is a big Extol fan, sure is starting to wear his influences on his sleeve isn't he? Not complaining though, I love Extol too, and those elements mesh well with The Faceless' sound
Someone help a fellow former death metal head get back into the swing of things. My favorite bands in the past were the faceless, decapitated, meshuggah, veil of maya, necrophagist, etc. What bands are similar in vibes today?
Philip Dial . Rivers of Nihil. Vale of Pnath. Obscura. Soreption. Alterbeast. Beyond Creation. If you like modern technical death metal, then you’ll definitely love these
vicpic666 yes I am hooked just got into the faceless here this month don’t know how I missed them all these years I got Apple Music and downloaded all there shit when out and got autotheism and planetary duality but can’t find there first cd anywhere and becoming a ghost no fye or Best Buy has it in or will be getting it in pisses me off big time but if it was some rap cd they would have it bet your ass on that but we got amazon so they are on there way
Don't understand the flack this album got. Definitely still a great jam. I'm arguably biased, but Chason also tears it the hell up on this! I wish there was a different drum production, but oh well.
Fajar Agung That dude from Abigail Williams has much more diversity in his voice than Derek and Derek sounds just monotonous don't get me wrong I love his voice but I get bored really quickly
Despite there being multiple vocalists on this album which is something I’ve never seen before and is BEYOND laziness, this album is so beautiful I could cry at times.
Horatio Trismegistus yes we can hell we never had them. Non musicians dont wanna have to have a bachelors degree in music theory to be able to understand this. Its boring the screams are weak asf the clean singing is bathed in opiate addiction and it really has no melody. The triggers make the kick sound like it was played on a hello kitty drumset. I was really hoping this would bring me back but they are barely hanging on. I doubt well see another album from these guys hell they arent even on the charts. I have never in my life heard an albim more boring then this its completely underwhelming.
Dennis Brown: But dude! Planetary Duality is a fucking killer album! I am truly sad that this is not doing the same for me. It might help if they didn't switch band members twice a month. And I agree, the vocals sound like an uninspired black metal cover band. I like the clean vocals on "The Spiraling Void," but that isn't a good enough reason for me to buy this album.
Ok I have to knock this album a BIT because..... I legit thought the chorus to this song was on the new Fleshkiller (basically Extol) record and I was looking all over the album like WHERE IS THIS PART I WANNA LISTEN TO IT AGAIN..... it's in this fucking song. A bit shameless tbh. But at least Keene is LITERALLY on record saying his influence is shameless so props for him not giving a fuck about it I guess.
The album is great, but the fact that outside of the three songs we've already heard, the intro and the interlude and the instrumental, there's only four new songs (one being a cover). I feel like this album needed another four or five songs to really make it worth the purchase. I'm paying for basically an EP's length of new songs for the price of a full album. That's kind of a ripoff. I feel like keeping this song on the album alongside the Spiraling Void is an insult to Derek Rydquist as well as Ken Sorcern, as Derek does the unclean vocals on this song and Spiraling Void, but left the band two years ago. Keene should have either got Derek to do the entire album, or had Sorceron re-record I Am and The Spiraling Void. It just shows how Frankenstein'd this album is. I love the songs, but I still expected more from the Faceless.
TheSpliffstarEffect I completely agree. That's us being really big fans though... We've waited how long for new faceless? It feels soooo long and we got so little but actually every damn song is good on the cd.... Even though I don't care for the cover too much.
“I.. Am the one.. who HEARS your PRAYER..” Keene’s vocals are so sick.
no theyre not
@@igunzOsick yes they are
@@jadentupou9036 You right
Too bad he's a self righteous moron
@@NG.4769 How ironic
This song is mildly inspirational. Unsettlingly discouraging. Beautifully hypnotizing, & oddly angelic.

I'm addicted to this song. Love the way the lyrics describes someone addicted to something
This stuff is so hauntingly beautiful.
love Micheals clean vocals the chorus in this is gold
Man, that bass POPS. tasty sounding tone.
I will write this everywhere, Keene is a GOD.
1:46
I can tell the lyrics are about Michael's Heroin addiction.
its like some kind of funk jazz death metal
The way of Chi Prog?
Still here in 2021. Got thru addiction and mental gymnastics. Freed from The cursed affair in which we’re ensnared. No longer alone.
I looooooove this song(and the whole album, and all the songs by the faceless)
Great track great album
Who else waited till Midnight for the new Faceless album to release
Yeah!
I didn’t have to because I preordered the cd
One of the best Tech death albums ever recorded

Love this song
I kinda drifted away from the faceless and this is reeling me back in!
If only albums like this were a regular thing... KEENE! MORE ALBUMS!!

still waiting
@@Goose21 Bloody heroin...
this song is what I needed right now
I think this is my new favorite. Thank you guys for this amazingness
I'm hearing a big classical music attitude in this album, and this song also reads like a monologue in a play\opera. Brilliant!
thats just good technical [progressive] death metal
WOW THIS CLEAN VOCALS.. I LOVE THIS SONG
I Love It!!.. what a chorus man!!
Ahhhhh, I feel the extol influence in this one and i just love it

And this is dope that Faceless likes them too. Fact of the matter is Extol is a very well respected European deathmetal band

I hope Derek shows up tonight for the cd release show to fill in on this song. That would be an epic surprise. \m/
The groove in this reminds me of Revocation's Spastic. Good stuff.
So alone..
Throwing a major Necrophagist feel!
You'd literally love Irreversible Mechanism to death if you don't already.
James Peterson IM is fantastic. I love that ending in Cold Winds!
Go listen to Mr. Self Destruct by NIN and come back and read the lyrics.
The chorus (clean vocal part theme) is kinda borrowed from Extol (band) - Extol (album) - Extol (song).
Keene has been "borrowing" from Extol since Autotheism.
Keene is a big Extol fan, sure is starting to wear his influences on his sleeve isn't he? Not complaining though, I love Extol too, and those elements mesh well with The Faceless' sound
Exactly, love how he made the whole song go with it.
Always thought his cleans sounded more in line with Akerfeldt's, but they sound different on this album, so I concede the Extol point.
the screamed vocals (high and low) are particularly familiar to early Extol fans here
Killer song
All kinds of badass
The bass guitar is fucking glorious in this song
Almost two years later. I like it now.
Gotta love that Christmasy ending
Like the sound but that drum trigger is fucking overboard.
Was this album mixed on a pumpkin?
No, a gourd.
Thanks.
Always glad to help. I have been a fan of this band for a long time, but I'm not sure what to think of this album.
Their music has finally become a subject of subjective listening. Unlike the earlier times where all agreed, they were "The Faceless."
spider7ven: What do _you_ think of this new stuff? _The spiraling void_ I liked, and _Black star_ was alright, but the rest so far...
Well someone is bitting off an extol little too much lmao 🤣

extol + devin townsend = in becoming a ghost
Maimun Zubair I don’t who extol is but I definitely got that Devy feel when he sings
As soon as those cleans started I heard extol
Maimun Zubair sounds like gorod to me, and the first clean part reminds me of subliminal verses from slipknot
I miss "Undeceived"-era Extol. So damn good.
Then listen to the song "Extol", it was released several years ago and it's pretty much the same chorus.
Thank you Faceless. for being Fuckin awesome~
guitar solo part's progression is just like the end of sons of belial
I'm gonna get crucified for saying this, but the progression from 5 minutes on reminds me so much of Mood Swing by Polyphia

OAI, EAAAAAAAAAAAM THE ONE
There are some serious lyrical shout outs to Nine Inch Nails in this one. On or two lines are almost verbatim from Mr. Self Destruct.
