    Finally a video that shows that the Analog Keys is capable of really heavy analog sounds, not just these snappy cold sounds a lot of demos are showing. Tack Cenk!

      You have two sub oscillators per voice, 2 VCOs, one 4 pole filter, and one variable 2 pole filter. The 4 pole filter has two types of overdrive to boot. Plenty of sound sculpting options, and that's not getting into the LFOs, routing or the built-in FX unit, which has quite a lot of tweakability itself.
      There is also a feedback mode for oscillator 1.
      You can make the A4 and AKeys sound as peaceful as a butterfly and as angry as a swarm of bees.
      This sonic range is what sold me on it. That and the sequencer along with the ability to use it as 4 mono synths or as a 4 voice poly with everything in between.

    • @rhythmdroid
      @rhythmdroid 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** and to add on to that...I tried STACKING the voices and playing 2 separate patches with one key press. That allowed me to have 4 oscillators, all of which were totally tunable against eachother. Got a VERY Moogy bass sound at that point.

    This has to currently be the best piece of music equipment price wise on the the second hand market right now. Absolutely beautiful synth, sounds stunning, less than half of the original rrp on average. But it’s monster, actually brought this as it stood really well in the demos sonically through a timoo. Sounds weird I know, but the other synths capable of sounding rich in that area where the higher tiered synths price wise. Dominion one sounded great also. tempted by a pro 2 however the ak on average is cheaper. So glad I’ve got the ak, it’s incredibly inspiring and great fun to use and it is intuitive and don’t have an issue at all with the screen. My first elektron, very pleased. Bit of a sleeper at the moment, as for Overbridge, wow!!

    The AK is probably the most sophisticated analog synth on the market. Nothing comes close to what these things can do. They are not perfect, there are some idiosyncrasies, but it's basically 4 modular synths in one with a sequencer that rivals a lot of DAWs.

    • @TheHexeract
      @TheHexeract 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not quite like a modular, nowhere near as good sounding as a moog, or future retro, but the sequencers are what make it great.

      I’m curious whether folks who hate on the A4 actually own one or have spent a few months getting to know one deeply. It is an absolute BEAST of a synth. I have a Subsequent 37 and the A4 gets just as heady and creamy as the Moog, except that it also has a fuckload more modulation and a sweet sequencer. Not hating on the Moog, it is awesome for what it is, but the A4 is 🔥

      This was quite helpful. Just got my Four a few days ago. Extremely happy with it. Well built and great sound to boot. It's my first analog synth and my first Elektron product.
      Still learning how to get the most out of the sequencer, but it was easy to learn how to create patches from scratch. This video helped with learning the sequencer immensely.
      Looking forward to getting another Elektron Music Machine in 2015 to compliment this one :_D.
      Thank you for putting in the effort to design something of quality.
      Will learning the A4 OS carry over to some of the other Elektron devices?
      There's a bit of a learning curve there, but now that I am starting to remember how it all works, I can create patterns, sounds, and parameter locks more quickly each time.

      +TheBioBeast nice peace of gear a lot of fun and easy to use, dunno why so many people complain about it's interface. But the most important is how it sounds: in poly mode is just like heaven. Many of the factory patches are to hard and wild, i dont like them, but its a question of taste and you can tweak a shit out of them. The sequencer is awesome . I think better buy this synth instead of couple of cheaper ones. I like the sound of my bs2 better even if is just a monosynth.

    • @maccagrabme

      So you prefer the sound of the bass station 2 over this? Why is that?

    • @timothymcjury72
      @timothymcjury72 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      G. A. Molnar I agree the bass station is a badass little machine and definitely worth it. I can see if that's the sounds you want the bass station has some incredibly different oscillators than the AK. But in terms of sound thickness and punch. To my ears the AK has an amazingly warm sound for such a modern machine and you can get any type of sound from it. From soft silky pads to hard bell like tones and beefy bass. They are just different synths but you can hear the authenticity of the analog keys.

    Is this synth as good as a Minimoog Voyager?

    • @rhythmdroid
      @rhythmdroid 9 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Seekthetruth3000 It really depends on what you want to get for your money. Not only is AK cheaper, but the oscillators are more flexible, it's 4 voice polyphonic and multi-timbral, it has a 6 track sequencer (1 per voice, 1 for FX, 1 for CV out), high quality reverb, delay (with infinite feedback), and chorus, memory for 4,096 patches and over 16,000 patterns, you can split the keyboard into different zones (up to 128) and each can do different things--for example play different patches, so you can have like an "analog drumkit", you can use the keys to trigger patterns, and as of this month, the USB cable allows you to stream 8 separate channels of audio straight into your DAW and control the synth as a VST. The advantages of Moog, in my opinion, are the roundness of the oscillators and filter, the "1 knob per function" layout, and the name "Moog". Up to you. Often people find that a brand name can persuade or dissuade them from a purchase. While Moog has around 50 years of experience re-iterating and perfecting the somewhat same idea, Elektron has 17 years of very diverse and forward thinking machines.

      ***** The signal path is entirely analog. The effects returns are digital, of course, but they are "send" based, so the dry analog voices are still heard in the main mix! Analog Four and Keys can sound very digital if you want them to, but of course, the user has control over oscillator drift, unison mode, 2 types of osc detuning, etc...

    Dos minutos tocando una tecla... Casi tres minutos para tocar otra... cuatro minutos para tocar tres teclas... nueve minutos para modificar un sonido en una escala ... otros dos minutos para cambiar la onda y tocar cuatro botones ... 12 minutos para poner una secuencia y otros dos para repetirla ... 14 minutos para variarla mínimamente ... diecisiete minuto para equivocarse y salir del paso como buenamente se pueda ... y, por fin, 18 minutos para mostrarnos lo que se puede hacer con esta máquina... y con cualquier otro sinte de cualquier otra marca. ¿De verdad vale la pena la inversión de tantos euros para nada?

      +Miguel Ángel Egido Pablos Most of his videos are actually far to quick to follow what he does and always people ask questions, then he does a slow detailed video and someone get annoyed. If you think all synthesizers are equal why are you watching these videos?

      Para nada, todos esos artistas usandolas deben estar locos.Seriamente: son instrumentos, escoge lo que te inspira, en realidad no necesitamos nada de esto si lo escogemos es sólo por el gusto e inspiración que nos da un instrumento. A veces me inspira un plug in, a veces mi elektron, a veces Push, a veces un minitaur. Lo importante es disfrutar. La necesidad, la busqueda de "ser mejores por medio de equipo" es una perdida de tiempo.

      Cuando comienzo a ver un video no sé lo que va a pasar. ¿Tú si? Y conforme van pasando los minutos me aburro, me aburro y me aburro. Y este video es aburrido con avaricia.

      No entiendo tu respuesta, yo respondí a tu pregunta "¿De verdad vale la pena la inversión...?" si el video te parecio aburrido pues que te puedo decir, es un tutorial y yo tmb me he llegado a quedar dormido viendo alguno.

    It has been said in many places - really poor 'workflow vids'. At least Thavius made a decent effort - everyone gushing over that 7 year old doing a depeche mode recreation was a bit pukey, to be honest. The first thing you want to do with a new synth, is tweak, prod, play... I do not want to assimilate an entire manual before I turn on a machine. I have owned it a month, played little else, and yes, it has its strong points and qualities, and some really infuriating / ill thought out ideas. You spend your time delving, backtracking, 8 commands to get to one place and then you think fuck it' I'll play guitar instead. The lifeless reverb is awful - - Always make sure it's going through the Big Sky instead. Anyway, last night, I decided to play with the Virus instead... wow, what a joy to be back in the normal world, so effortlessly musical; I was beginning to feel like I was about to turn into 7-of-9 every time I looked at the A4.. Of all my gear, I'd part with it before I even got rid of the ms2000B.. I can see it getting resigned to a step sequencer ( one with even less capability than the virus talking to a beatstep pro within logic.. ), I kind of feel like, why would I take a 250Nm torque wrench to tighten down an 8mm cam-shaft cover bolt and just make work difficult for myself.. I ain't that impressed.. maybe a Mk2 keys version will be more studiously thought out. I can see it getting chopped for a DSI

    Sounds okey, but very far from impressing. Extremely overprized, and totally outclassed by U-he Diva.

      I love both, the problem is using Diva live, carrying computer, interface and controller, plus cables. If diva existed in hardware that would be my choice
