/ sbsixmusic / steeboo The analog four can't do chords yet, but we can fake it a little. You'll see how in this tutorial, making some deep dubtech chords on the A4
the p lock bug is no bug mate. it changes the setting and leaves it there till you put another one in.. a blank one if you will. [function] and [trig] in the position you need the p lock to end. I like what you did
Very nice tutorial! Know you did this a long time ago, but just curious...when you change the pitch through a trigless trig it just sounds to me like the pitch of the normal trig is changing, so what's the difference in doing it with a trigless trig and simply changing the pitch of the original trig?
Hmm not sure anymore :) I think in this tutorial, track 2 triggers the sound, and uses osc1 oscillators using neighbour tracks. Maybe with normal trigs on track 1, envs are also triggered, which you might not want, because you want to use track 2 envs. Otherwise track 1 and 2 envs are triggered. But do note that this tutorial was made on old firmware, nowadays you can just make a chord on 1 track and it will automatically use the other voices if available.
Would you still recommend investing in Elektron gear? It's really expensive... I could afford the Octatrack or the A4 in about two months. Also how did you get such a fat and crisp sound on your drums (especially the kick)? At the moment I'm running a Maschine along with Ableton. Last week I bought the Audio 8 from NI, so I can finally record my Korg R3, but I'm thinking about selling it, because I'm not really digging most of the digital sounds on it. Anyways, I'm out of characters, let me know
Great video! Is there anyway you could redo this with the new firmware since it now can do polyphony? I don't understand how I step sequence chords... :/
Elektron gear is fun to use and essential when you work "out of the box". If you like producing with a DAW it doesn't add that much. Softsynths and fx these days can be really good and the only thing you need to produce HQ tracks in a DAW. About the kick from everyday, that's 2 samples played simultanious. 1 contains the low-end, the other the crispyness.
if you only could have one ... Octatrack , or , Analog4 ... which would it be ? ? ? ? but , you already have synths like nexus , omnisphere , iris , korg triton ... but you already have samplers like , MPC , FL Studio , ECT ... whats the smart buy ?
Hey SB-SIX, can you please tell does this synth have duo-phonic unison mode? I mean, so that there could be played 2 different sound presets simultaneously within 2 note polyphony. Should be logical to have that mode, considering the multi-map mode and four voice unison, but still I didn't find any info about it in the net. Hope you get what I'm saying, thanks in advance.
well i enjoy syncing alot of different things and making very large complex sequence sometimes ,and like i luv my mpc but id hate to build my whole song in one . the elektrons with there small screens wont be any different , there just great sound tools , you can midi sync with any thing ill go for the OT and Monomachine later
hi, thanks for the tut. i would like to know how to set up the filters and fx and lfo. in ableton i just use reverb - pingpong delay - compressor. cheers a4beginner
Not entirely. If you want to do chords which doesn't involve a 5th, you'd still need this method. Also, the 5th subosc is always a square, so for other waveforms you'd still need the neighbours. You have much more freedom with neigbours in shaping the individual notes.
The elektrons are all about the sequencer and live performance imho. If you use a software sequencer, you'd miss the biggest part of the fun. To be honest if I could only choose 1, I'd choose none. A4 and OT together is a pretty nice start for a live setup.
Hey man I listened to your sounds on soundcloud! Everyday is fucking massive!!! Would you be willing to help an aspiring young producer out and reveal your setup on that track to me?

Good explanation of the functions. Thanks.
Incredible.... the sound is so rich
Thanks! Yes this is before the subosc with 5ths came out, no need for the neighbour machines now for most chords. It's a fun device for sure!
Well done ❤
Gaaf man, thanks !
Even though it was fake, it sounded great and I could not sit still, and I learned
Grtz
How dos this method differ from the new addition of the "5ths" subosc? Does this render the Neighbor feature useless, at least per this tutorial?
It's like selecting a waveform. After the square/saw/tri waves you'll see the neighbour setting.

@@sbookholt Makes sense, thanks a lot for your very clear answer :)
Great tutorial!

How do you set osc2 to neighbor? I don't see this option on my osc2 page....thanks!
Great sounds !
Cheers steboo useful stuff man.
Great tutorial.

It's really easy, either record them live, or hold the step you want, plus the keys of the chord, then release the step.
I figured it out! thanks!!

Mhhh You are messy around Bro a little bit, elektron is not only put a kick hats and boom boom boom, trust me!!! Cheers!!
Both the OT and A4 in combination are a good live set in sync.
Perhaps with a Kaospad and a Virus TI.

Could you explain how you created the sound/stab on track 4 towards the end of the video? It sounds so lush!
I think that's a sound with a subosc 2 octaves down, decent amount of resonance, reverb and delay.

mmmaxaz No not really. in the poly config, you can select either polyphonic or unison.
Ok, thanks
Yeah no prob, always willing to help. But EveryDay was done in Ableton, recorded most synth sounds from the tempest, drums are samples.
Great Tutorial!! Thanks a lot.
my analog 4 have another "The saw" default sound on 7 second. Have you a Delay or an another think activated?
I think that was the default saw at that time. We're quite a few firmwares ahead now so it might have changed.
I have an A4 and have read the manual. I don't see this neighboring function.

hi,
thanks for the tut.
i would like to know how to set up the filters and fx and lfo.
in ableton i just use reverb - pingpong delay - compressor.
cheers a4beginner
dub techno in deed, yes!!!!!!! so I'm getting a log four and just got octatrack :)

@oo00ooEmTeXoo00oo Yes of course :) I just liked the sound of the inverted chord more.
great tutorial =]
I stand corrected. I found the Neighbor feature. It's under wave forms. Nice. :)
Have you sold your Tempest?
No definitely not :) it's finally getting more mature (the os). And the sound is very different from the a4 so they complement each other well.
Hey man I listened to your sounds on soundcloud! Everyday is fucking massive!!! Would you be willing to help an aspiring young producer out and reveal your setup on that track to me?
@aikighost Cheers aiki!
It's all Analog Four, internal delay/reverb
mmmm playing with knobs.
Good, but more Ambient like Dubstep
wtf?
hahahahaha :D
tech without dub dude
this guy doesnt know what is he doing ....
Don't we all...
I think you and the children expected dubstep LMAO. Go back to school and study the history
