These online prep classes are always my favorite presentations because I love the sophistication of the design and they bring a realization that at a younger age I would have chosen to specialize in corporate design. (This coming from someone who has never had any training or course work!). That being said, it also screams how important it is to learn the basics of element and design and techniques so that synthesis can evolve. This is a video as other prep videos that should be studied and required and reviewed as part of basic course work as a goal incentive. (Maybe they already are). Thanks to Michelle for her, as usual, sophisticated design concepts. I would have loved to have seen her completed design!
Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts and perceptions with us, Doane! You are right on the mark with so many of these statements. Building a strong foundation with the elements and principles of design is a key part of floral design success, and something we want for all of our Tulips. You mentioned that you would like to see the finished arrangements, and they will be available over the weekend on our Flower School TH-cam Community Page, which you can find here: www.youtube.com/@FlowerSchool/community The first one was posted this morning, and another will appear on Saturday. We really appreciate you stopping by to say hello and share in the beauty of floral design whenever you can. Wishing you a magnificent week and hope all is well in your corner of the world!
Hello Doane! Not sure why it isn't working on your iPad, and this is the only link we have for the community page. Another way to find it is to go to the Flower School TH-cam main page here: www.youtube.com/@FlowerSchool and then click on the fifth tab over to the right that says Community. Hopefully that will take you to the photos. Another way to see them is on our Pinterest page, which you can find here: www.pinterest.com/flowerschool/ Please let us know if you need additional assistance, and hopefully one of these two pathways will lead you to the photos. Thank you very much for your kind support and wishing you all the best!
Hello Will and welcome to Flower School Live! We are very happy to have you join us and hope you are doing well. It can be challenging when you live in an area that doesn't have many flowers available to forage. In those cases, we suggest the floral department at the local supermarket or perhaps ordering flowers to be shipped to your area. There are few floral companies who will do that. We're so glad to hear that you are excited to learn more about the elements and principles of floral design. If we can be of any assistance, please let us know. We can also help you find videos as needed. Thank you for spending time with us and we hope that you will stop by again soon. Sending you best wishes and hope you have a splendid week!
Hello Niengaw and welcome to Flower School Live! We lover our first-timers and are so happy that you found our channel. Please feel free to join us as often as you can, perhaps for our Live show, which airs on Wednesdays at 3:00 PM Pacific Time. If you stop by then, you can ask questions of Leanne and the FDI teachers while they design. If that time doesn’t work for you, we’ll always be here on replay too. Thank you so much for watching our show, and we look forward to seeing you very soon. Please have a splendid week and hopefully it will be filled with flowers too. P.S. Hope all is well in Micronesia as well.
@@FlowerSchool thank you so much for the welcoming regards , i been follow the TH-cam videos , but im looking forward to learn alot more . hello from Chuuk Micronesia .

That's super exciting, Mike! we will be there as well and we hope that you will stop by and say hello in between sessions. Good evening to you too, Ana Maria! We are so pleased that you took some time to watch our show with Teacher Michelle. It's always interesting to have her in the studio sharing floral design styles and techniques. We are so glad you could spend some time with us and we hope that you will visit us again soon. Wishing you a peaceful weekend and hope you can have flowers in every room!
hi, love your videos and preparing to my PFDE with you❤. Could you tell me please if I take 5 courses at AIFD and get the 5 certificates after online test for each about compliting all courses(I get 80%+ for each) does that mean that I already can use lovely letters CFD after my name? Thank you
Hello Sona! This is an excellent question and since it is specific to your circumstances, it would be best if we could discuss it by telephone or via e-mail. Please feel free to reach out to Leanne or Teacher Michelle via phone at 1-503-223-8089 or by e-mail at rose@floraldesigninstitute.com or leanne@floraldesigninstitute.com Would you please include your contact information so we can get back to you on this? We want to give you the correct information according to your situation and that's why it would be best to chat one-on-one at your convenience. Thanks so much for reaching out to us and we look forward to helping you prepare for your PFDE exam, whenever you are ready to take it. Best wishes to you and hope you have a marvelous week!
Hello again Sona! Leanne also mentioned that it would be best to reach out to AIFD for full confirmation as to the steps to take to earn your CFD: aifd.org P.S. We'll be delighted to help you prepare for your PFDE as well!
I really really love the bottom leaves. dark green like a start...what is it call? Where did you get it? I even tried shopping around for wholesale flowers. Neither do they.
Hello SD! That's a great question, and we think you might be asking about fatsia leaves. They are visible in this photo, and Teacher Michelle used them in her first design for this Live. They are large, flat leaves that are wide, shiny, and dark green, and they are marvelous for creating interest in the design and for covering mechanics like foam really well. Leanne often adds them to her floral designs as well because they are so attractive and interesting. Another leave we use is aspidistra and it has a similar shiny surface, but they have a long length and sometimes come variegated Thank you very much for taking time to watch our show and we hope you learned a lot from it. We look forward to seeing you again soon, and send you best wishes in the meantime!
That's very true, Cheeky Monkey! It can be a bit of a puzzle to arrange things in the van for delivery, and sometimes you have to assemble your arrangements on-site because of their size. Thank you for taking the time to watch this special Live with Teacher Michelle. We hope you enjoyed it and we invite you to visit us again soon. Wishing you all the best and hope you have a wonderful week!
Hello Iris and welcome to Live! We hope you enjoyed this informative show with Teacher Michelle, and learned more about preparing for AIFD design testing. It's a unique, timed environment for designing, and we want our Tulips to be prepared so they can be successful. Thank you for stopping by to say hello and we hope to see you again soon. Wishing you a marvelous week, and please enjoy flowers whenever you can!
Hello BF and welcome to Flower School Live! We are so delighted that you found our channel and we invite you to join us whenever you have the time to do so. Our Live show airs on Wednesdays at 3:00 pm Pacific Time and if you stop by then, you can ask questions of Leanne and the FDI teachers while they design. If that time doesn’t work for you, we’ll always be here on replay too. As to your question about becoming a Tulip, our Tulips are FDI students, graduates, and members of the Flower Lovers Club, which is the quickest and easiest way to get started. It's an annual fee of $59.95, and it is a special FDI membership where Club Members access an exclusive collection of how-to floral design demonstrations. The Flower Lover’s Club also helps support all free educational programs that the Floral Design Institute offers like Wednesday Lives. Here is a link to that page where you create an account and can pay for it on-line: www.floraldesigninstitute.com/account/login?return_url=%2Faccount%3Fview%3Dmembership There is also a private Facebook group where all of our FDI students, graduates, and Flower Lover's Club members exchange photos, get advice, and learn more about floral design. We'll share that with you after you join. If you are interested in any of our courses, you can find them here: www.floraldesigninstitute.com/pages/classes Thank you very much for spending some time with us, and we hope to see you again soon, perhaps on a Live show one of these days. Wishing you all the best and please take care! P.S. If you have any questions, please let us know and we'll do our best to help! You can always give us a call during the week at 1-503-223-8089 or e-mail rose@floraldesigninstitute.com
Thank you for sharing a wealth of tulips with us, Emmanuel! They are perfect for this superb Live with Teacher Michelle who does an excellent job of helping people prepare for the AIFD design test coming up this summer in Chicago. We are happy to have you join us for this fantastic show, and we'll be looking for you over the weekend as well. Hope you get to take it easy and enjoy flowers whenever you like!

Thanks for sharing your perspective and for watching our show, Camilo! It's really a matter of personal taste. Some people like more contemporary floral designs while others prefer classic designs. This Live was about designing for competition and evaluation, which is somewhat different than everyday floral designing. It was lovely to host you here and we hope you will join us again soon. Wishing you all the best and hope you have a delightful week with flowers!

Thank you for the information. I learned a lot from you and really appreciate it....
Some designs are very hard to transport by van; especially when there are lots of arrangements to stuff in the van.
