    Leanne, it's been a long two years away from events. This is a great video recap of this year's PFDE testing. I met you at the symposium in 2019 and it was my first experience with PFDE testing. See you in Vegas 2022! Rock On!

    is there something you can spray or apply onto those lily stamens to avoid having to remove them?

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's an excellent question, Jennifer! So far we haven't found anything that works so we remove the stamens because they stain fabric and even the flowers themselves rather badly. Thank you for spending some time with us to get ready for AIFD testing. We hope you have a lovely week and wish you all the best in all that you do!

      We are happy to hear this, James! Leanne shared a great deal of important information about how to prepare well for the AIFD test. It is a rigorous exam and we want you to excel when you decide to test for it. Thank you so much for stopping by today and please know how much we enjoy seeing you on our shows. Please take care and have a joyous week in every way!

    After every basic floral class everyone have to take the test?

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's an interesting question, Nou! You don't have to take the test if you don't want to, but we encourage our students to seek the certifications when they are ready to do so. Leanne wants people to know what testing involves and that's why she shares this information on Flower School. It is to help them be successful when they decide to pursue the exam. Thank you very much for stopping by to watch our show today and we hope that you will visit with us again soon whenever you have the time. Please have a splendid weekend enjoying flowers and floral design!

    What would you use clear nail polish for ? ...X

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's an excellent question, Karen! Clear nail polish is sometimes used to keep lily pollen intact so it doesn't disintegrate and stain the flowers or any fabric underneath them like a tablecloth. It can be very messy indeed. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch this interesting Flower School Live about getting ready for AIFD testing. We hope you enjoyed Leanne's tips and techniques to succeed in a competitive design environment, and we hope that you will join us again for more marvelous floral design. Wishing you an outstanding week in all that you do!

      @FlowerSchool  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So true, Jessy! Hydrangeas need a lot of love and care to be fresh and beautiful for our designs. Leanne created an excellent video about care and handling of hydrangeas which you can find here: th-cam.com/video/qyMYZSSlqas/w-d-xo.html We hope this helps you keep your flowers in tip top share for your your arrangements. How much will the whole process costs? From beginning to advance including the testing and certifications.

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Melinda! Those are great questions and thank you for asking them. Information about Floral Design Institute courses can be found here and the cost will vary depending on whether you take the courses on-line or join us in-person in Portland, Oregon: www.floraldesigninstitute.com/classes.html AIFD testing is a separate process and has an additional cost, but Floral Design Institute is an AIFD approved educational partner and we teach students the skills and techniques they need to prepare well to take the AIFD exam. You can find more information about that here: aifd.org/ If you have specific questions about materials, costs, or when classes are offered, you can also give us a call at 1-503-223-8089 and we'll be happy to speak with you. You can also send us an e-mail at rose@floraldesigninstitute.com or write to Leanne directly at leanne@floraldesigninstitute.com. We would love to have you join us at any time and look forward to seeing you soon. Thank you very much for watching Flower School Live along with us today and please have a marvelous week!

    What do people sneak clear nail polish in for?

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's an excellent question, Ethan! Clear nail polish is used to keep lily pollen intact so it doesn't stain the flowers in the design or the tablecloth underneath it as well. As Leanne pointed out, you only want to bring in the tools allowed and you don't want to do anything that would get you disqualified from testing. Thank you so much for stopping by to watch our show today and we hope that you will join us again soon. Wishing you a most peaceful and lovely week in all that you do!

    I am going to have to "that person" but every time I go to my florist, whom I love, he is always backed up with having to do funeral flowers. However, I have never seen that type of arrangement addressed on this channel. Is it addressed in the courses? It seems to be a large proportion on business right now. I know it isn't fun to focus on death but.....it is a part of reality and being a florist. Just hoping you might mention it or maybe give an example of why or why not. Thanks.

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      These are all excellent questions, Vol Vacations! We do teach sympathy design in Basic Floral Design as it is an important part of the floral industry. We also have a couple of videos about it as well, which you can find here: th-cam.com/video/ipKo5dwegOU/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/iacWCR6KetI/w-d-xo.html. We'll be doing more of this in the future as well and will let you know in advance when we do. Thanks so much for spending time with us today and we look forward to seeing you again soon. @FlowerSchool  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a marvelous question, Ananta Fiore! We do have on-line courses and you can find them here: www.floraldesigninstitute.com/classes.html They are fully teacher-supported and you will get excellent feedback and assistance from the FDI instructors. Floral Design Institute is an AIFD® approved Education Partner so we'll be teaching you what you need to learn to seek AIFD certification at some point. If you have any questions or would like to speak with someone about our courses, you can give us a call at 1-503-223-8089 or send us an e-mail at rose@floraldesigninstitute.com. We'll be happy to help you with whatever you need and discuss a plan for you to complete your floral education. • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You asked about the differences between the green and black foam. They are essentially the same material but different colors, and the black foam is often considered a dramatic part of the design and will blend in to it whereas the green foam is strictly a mechanic that needs to be fully covered with flowers and foliage. Could you help us with a little more information about your first question regarding the flower? We would love to answer it, but are not sure what you are asking. Thanks very much for dropping by and we hope to see you very soon. Have a delightful week!

    Question…. Once you’re AFID certified are you certified for life?

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's an interesting question, Twyla! We are including a link to the AIFD website where it mentions, "To retain the status as a Certified Floral Designer or Accredited Member of AIFD®, designers must meet continuing education requirements every five years (AIFD®) or every three years (CFD®). You can find the information on the bottom of this page: aifd.org/membership/ Hope this information helps. Thank you so much for joining us for Flower School Live and we hope to host you again soon.
