knowing the French, they probably splashed soy sauce onto something and call it Asian food. Apparently the food was so bad, the South Koreans brought over their own chefs and materials to cook for the athletes.
This is sad representation of food preparation. How in the world do you cook pasta and not know to stir the pot so the pasta don't stick. I'm betting they hired bunch of people that have never cooked western food in their lives. I was recently at an amusement park and I've had better food there than what the athletes seem to be eating.
I mean spaghetti, noodles or a version of it is eaten worldwide really, pasta is staple food worldwide maybe beside the remote jungle tribes or some natives living nomadic lifestyles most nation that are sedentary cultivate wheat and make their version of bread , pasta etc Edit: my point is western food is known but cutting on cost by hiring less people and letting a huge amount of food to be cooked by inexperienced (cheaper) overwhelmed cooks is totally possible. Ironically its in western nation that many are not taught to cook from a young age
@BK-tp6jf but various cultures may cook them differently. For instance, you need spaghetti to not be sticky, and be neither too soft nor too hard. It's not the case for all noodle types worldwide, some are cooked to be sticky and in some in doesn't matter.
Look up Paris Syndrome. It's when Japanese tourists visit Paris, and the reality falls so short of expectations that it leads to physical ailments. More tourists from other countries are experiencing now.
Personally I'm surprised they even have dining halls for the athletes. In my head I was thinking most olympic athletes would have very strict rules of what they eat or don't eat - especially for such an important event in their lives/careers, so they wouldn't put this in the hands of anyone else to handle... but guess I was wrong :P
the viral chocolate muffins have been sold in france starbucks as a regular baked good item on their menu for quite a while. it is probably the same bakery that makes it that supplied it for the dining halls.
That's what happens when a president decides to run a country like a corporation. Turns out cutting costs and maximizing private profit does not taste very good.
France really phoned it in like holy shit. It's bad enough that they forced the swimming competitions to be in a filthy river, but they made EVERYTHING as cheap and shitty as possible. It's unbelievable. Some countries spend so much money fixing things up for the Olympics, and France basically just said it'll do with what it's got already. Shameful behavior.
France is showing that you can organize Olympics that won't ruin you. Have you noticed that there's fewer and fewer candidates to organize the Olympics? Because it costs billions! I think France made the right choice. First the venues in the city are unbelievable (Trocadero, Invalides, Grand Palais, Versailles, etc.) and it didn't cost much at all. I think it's a great deal!
@@thomaswargnier2562 Then you shouldn't host the Olympics its supposed to be a international spectacle where the best of the best in the world compete if you cant handle the cost of it then don't host it remember in order to be chosen to host your country literally needs to bid on it. This is just sad...
@@happyjohn354 I know that you have to bid, and when Paris did bid at the time, they explained exactly what they'd do (use existing venues, try to be more eco friendly etc.). And that's also why they got picked up. Because as I was saying before, there are fewer and fewer candidates every time, and the IOC was very interested in a live experiment of more budget controlled Olympics in order to attract more bidders in the future... Now you might have only seen a handful of IG or TikTok stories to make up your mind about the Paris Olympics, but I was on the ground and a huge majority of visitors were super happy and athletes too. Not everything was prefect of course, but all in all, those Olympics ended up costing almost half the price of some recent ones. And there won't be any abandoned venues etc after after the galles like we've seen too many times in the past. The bonus was to have so many competitions in iconic and historical spots in the heart and around Paris. For me it was a good compromise, but you're allowed to have your opinion if you think that a country should spend 20 billions for 2 weeks of sport...
Imagine if an athlete is so poor that they didn’t have enough pocket money to at least dine outside… wow. This is the problem with mass producing food, it’s difficult to cook for thousands of people.
Ridiculous. Watch Indian wedding videos. 100s of variety cooked for thousands of ppl easy. Guest list in Indian wedding is minimum 500 ppl. If they can't even be served that then it's a useless country. Doesn't France boast a rich food culture? Even village ppl in France eat better than this.
Not true. I catered my Dad's wedding by myself for over 200 people. And I volunteered for cooking in the mess hall in the US Army. They cook three meals a day for 1000s of people everyday.

As a French person I have to apologize for my country, this is not at all up to the standards. I don't know what happened but they clearly messed up badly.
They reportedly wanted to go more modern in their food selection, offering a variety of foods, from plant-based to multicultural cuisines that olympians could recognize. On one hand, it was a bold and innovative move bc it showed that French cuisine isn’t stuck in the past and is constantly evolving. On the other hand, the Olympics may not have been the best place to try it. While some considered the changes nice, NBC correspondents had to wait like 20 minutes just for a sandwich but stated that it was delicious, others complained quite a bit about the food. There were also issues with them running out of certain animal proteins which is a nightmare when you have omnivore and carnivore premier athletes breathing down your neck, waiting for fuel for their bodies. I think ppl are just so much more critical of everything now, for better or worse. They could have served them a king’s banquet and ppl still would have criticisms. Just like some people loved swimming in the Seine river and others were pretty upset bc it’s a known issue that when there is heavy rainfall, the E Coli in the river can raise to toxic levels; some thought it was the opportunity of a lifetime while other athletes felt like “puppets” whose health was placed second to an “iconic” moment of having olympians swim there. Both sides have valid points. I think that ppl just need to remember that Paris isn’t trying to hurt any of these athletes, esp. with millions watching.

People judged so much when Brazil held the Olympics because we're a south American country, and now look who's the controversial Olympics 😅 I was shocked when I saw the athletes swimming on basically sewage...
The difference between brazil and france is one of them is a Country from 3rd world and the other is and “””Elite “”” from “””1st””” world
Looks like the Asian and Halal sections are a safe bet. Also the choco muffins 😍
knowing the French, they probably splashed soy sauce onto something and call it Asian food.

I mean spaghetti, noodles or a version of it is eaten worldwide really, pasta is staple food worldwide maybe beside the remote jungle tribes or some natives living nomadic lifestyles most nation that are sedentary cultivate wheat and make their version of bread , pasta etc
Edit: my point is western food is known but cutting on cost by hiring less people and letting a huge amount of food to be cooked by inexperienced (cheaper) overwhelmed cooks is totally possible.
@@joane24 You’re exhausting. You know what they meant.
Huh? Pasta always sticks when you leave it for a while after cooking. It's not during the cooking process.
@@smtandearthboundsuck8400 It also might be *during* cooking process. That's why you need to stir it at some point during cooking.
When I saw Sodexo was catering Olympic Village, I understood lmao
Why did France even bid for the Olympics if they could not be bothered?
This was Macron dream and everyone disapproved him so no one care, it's literally Neron Macron personal show
If these Olympics are about showing the world the best things the organizing country has got to offer, then I don't want to go to France.
Look up Paris Syndrome. It's when Japanese tourists visit Paris, and the reality falls so short of expectations that it leads to physical ailments. More tourists from other countries are experiencing now.
0:03 is that stuffing?
😂😂 The athletes should REFUSE TO PERFORM UNTIL THEY FIX THAT DOG SLOP.
囚人食?
Swimming in the river was uncalled for. I feel sorry for those poor athletes.

From sweets to savories to rice and Naan the good caterers and chefs do it to perfection in wedding Venue kitchens. These ppl can't even cook basic good dishes? The athletes Just want a hearty meal. If they can't even be served that then it's a useless country. Doesn't France boast a rich food culture? Even village ppl in France eat better than this.
I mean this wasn’t an issue in the other Olympics. Look at Beijing it had a fantastic village
Not true. I catered my Dad's wedding by myself for over 200 people. And I volunteered for cooking in the mess hall in the US Army. They cook three meals a day for 1000s of people everyday.
