It was me. We were backstage at the Letterman show, my father, his manager were putting together the show lineup. They had Mr. Peaston and Mr. Gillespie. The manager said that a female singer would round out the show well. I said, “how about Dianne Reeves?” He said, “Dianne Reeves! Let’s look into that!” And there it is. Peace, folks.

I met David once...years ago and he was one of the most gentle and humble souls you would ever want to meet. He also visited my church a few times and graced us with his gift.
If that isn’t a MASTER CLASS in a slow blues... I don’t know what is!!

This version of the classic Stormy Monday Blues has some absolutely amazing vocal "WOW" moments. It's not the self-agrandizing vocalizing you see when people over-sing a tune for the sake of sounding cool. These are sincere, heartfelt, in the moment, incredible blues chops. I'm stunned!!

This is the 1st time i've seen this video and all I can say is WOW... I sooo wish they had done a cd together..their voices just meld together I always liked both artists seperately, but together they are a powerful duo!

RIP Hiram Bullock, one of my favorite guitar-players.
Saw him with Sanborn and then I saw him with Bob James back in the early 80's. One of a kind. Every now and then I have to pull out Sting's version of Little Wing just to hear HB one more time.
Now that's singing from two of the best voices in the world.

I just saw Dianne Reeves in concert at the Chicago Symphony Hall on Friday the 17th of May, 2024. She has simply become one of the finest singers in her day! Such pure control of that powerful voice. And I swear to you not, if she had sung this song Friday, the audience would have torn - I say torn, torn, TORN that place apart!! I’ve never seen so many beautiful, gorgeous and mature black women and men catch the vibe and give this woman such a standing ovation! I came to America to hear good blues and jazz. And Friday did it. Thank you Chicago!

Man I can't believe it. I had this on VHS years ago and lost it. One of the greatest musical moments ever on TV. This is a classic example of a blues done right.
