    Love your video.
    I have a big beautiful mop head right outside my kitchen deck. Every morning I throw my leftover coffee filter over the railing 😂 instead of the garbage or compost. I have HUGE DARK BLUE blooms just like your neighbors. When I planted it 13 years ago it was pink.

    Hydrangeas are like having children, great expectations, needy and and hard work, drink a lot, cost a fortune. And if you are lucky, quite rewarding at certain times of their lives. But we love them.

    I remember my mum taking lots cuttings from elderly relatives plants when I was younger and after they passed on she felt I think still connected to them in a way.

      So true isn't it? I love how people can tell a story about their plants. It's the same with seed saving too.

    I took a few cuttings from a garden in Cornwall that we were staying in. The owner told me to help myself! It was in August and they started to grow really well. Unfortunately the cold winter killed them. I was so disappointed, but I'll try again from some plants we have in the garden already. Thankyou for the inspiration Erica.

    I love hydrangeas I have loads of varieties including a dark leaf and propagate loads for family and friends. Correct colours are manipulated but soil acidity and you can actually change them to some extent. I also cut the lower leaves in half as they are not needed but you want some leave to synthesize. Happy gardening Ali 🌦️🇨🇦

      @@ericaslittlewelshgarden I would ask just flatter them with how beautiful their garden looks and tell them your interests in growing more hydrangeas and if they mind
      🤭🤭 or accidentally have one of the kids break off a branch

    I quite like them,though they tend to be the washed out bluey-pinky type here. We have a lot of iron rich soil round here.

    I have hydrangeas in my garden. They are in hot full sun all day, never get watered, and if I have time I will cut them back in the autumn, otherwise the spring. I do not feed them, and they grow in normal alkaline soil. Yet every year they grow vigorously, bloom profusely, and people stop to admire them. Oh, and frost and snow has no effect on them.

    • @ericaslittlewelshgarden
      @ericaslittlewelshgarden  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's mad isn't it? They just love the spot obviously, what colours do you have?

    • @Catsrule7
      @Catsrule7 ปีที่แล้ว

      They range from dark pink to a pale lilac blue. I bought some iron chelate to try on the lilac one but didn’t get round to adding it to the soil. I will try in the autumn. My latest acquisition is a pure white one which I am growing in a tub outside the back door. I absolutely love it.

    Hi Erica, I was just wondering where you keep the hygrangeas once they've rooted and you've potted them on?
    I took some cuttings from a white hydrangea at the weekend and have them in a pot inside a clear plastic tote box to maintain humidity but I'm unsure where to put them once I've potted them on.
    I'm a total novice and this is my first attempt at propogation so any advice would be greatly appreciated 😊

    • @ericaslittlewelshgarden
      @ericaslittlewelshgarden  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I like to keep them in a shady part of the garden so they don't risk getting dried out.

    I've had 2 potted Hydranges for yrs.. they just die right back and keep coming..I recently Bought 2 more from B&M £12 for dark pink & £15 for white, quiet good sizes. Again have reported on to large containers. After watching this video though I think I'll hve a go at some cuttings... Erica do you cut the dead flower heads off, I've always done this to encourage new flowers...x

    • @ericaslittlewelshgarden
      @ericaslittlewelshgarden  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes we do cut them back but after winter. I do always needs to read up which way you do it as its a different time for mophead / Piniculata.

    hi what potting mix did you use thankyou

    • @ericaslittlewelshgarden
      @ericaslittlewelshgarden  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A mix of top soil and peat free compost. If you have pearlite or sand it's worth adding that for better drainage but I don't buy anything special myself.

    Help please!, I've planted my leeks next to my spring onions and now they all look like spring onions, how do i tell which ones are the spring onions so I'm not picking leeks?

    • @ericaslittlewelshgarden
      @ericaslittlewelshgarden  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You'll have to wait until harvest time.

    • @marktoldgardengnome4110
      @marktoldgardengnome4110 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Once they start bulbing, the Onion will have a round/oval bulb, whereas the
      Leek will be more cylindrical. The leeks should also have flat leaves and the
      Onions round.
