If you steal the bear potion from the scientist looking lady you become a special character for the rest of the run, and the characters in the game even talks to you as if you’re a bear, it’s super powerful, everyone should try it out.
I stole sneeze from sneezy and duplicated my way to a super run with an upgraded dagger. Love this game.
Same, sneeze is basically a non-negotiable. Pair it with poison needle and you're pretty much unstoppable.
I did the same but I also got the wizard 1 spell which on upgrade freezes all enemy dies. Best run yet for me

Hey there NL, I have been watching your videos for a long ass time now probably around five or so years now. I was just barely a high school student when I first started watching you and I thought It would have taken me much longer but I recently joined the bald brothers. My hair for whatever reason started receding and fast. I wasn’t too happy about it. However after getting back into your videos and seeing you just own having no hair it really changed the outlook I had on myself and pushed me to do the first shave.

Watching the first few episodes of this series made me think that maybe NL actually knew what he was doing. After watching this and the jester episode it's like slay the spire all over again.
This episode was actually decent for him. Most he makes major errors that lead to death

Yo, walks through the poison math "that's a huge difference from 3 to 5 poison." Literally 5 seconds later: "5 uses instead of three? Meh."
That said this was a fun run, neat synergy!
yeah but upgraded dagger typically is better than just poison needle, even upgraded poison needle.
5 1's in upgraded poison needle is 5 poison, but 5 1's in dagger is 10 damage, it would take 3 turns for that 5 damage to pass daggers.
This game doesn't lend itself to stacking up small poison unless you're whole deck is built around it and shield
@@napalm777 yeah but then do math for 6, 7, 8 poison. After 2 turns of 5 poison, adding 1 poison = damage all 5 daggers. You're right though, in this game scaling doesnt seem to matter much at all.
@@Nicktals but in that same regard, 2 turns of 5 poison, or 2 turns of 10 damage, 10 damage still wins.
Really should stop ending turns with something to dump into finders keepers, might as well have options at the end.

dear egg, if your ability requires a 3 at maximum, odds are more valuable to you. Meaning an even ability would be better to add to your arsenal. 1,3,5 > 2,4,6 when your main damaging move does a maximum of 3 on roll. love the series. Bought the game because of you! 9:40 btw
Thief episode two sounds easy AF. Fight Sneezy, steal Sneeze, then try to get a bunch of other stuff that increases chances for high rolls, upgrade Dagger, and boom: turn all your high rolls into 1s and do 2 damage a pop with them. Hell, you could also throw in a Poison Needle to stack up poison while you're at it.

When playing as the thief I stole the teleport spell from the wizard and won easily. Finders keepers is a great ability

Poison needle can be safely discarded once you have dagger+. Unless you upgrade it and can reliably get 4 ones.

I stole a Teleport Spell from Wizard, upgraded it, also had Bump and I went against the Boss that only could do one attack per turn. She literally could never touch me.

Man, I love how stinkin' wholesome this game is. Maybe by episode 4 or 5 we'll all be pulling our hair out because the difficulty really ramps up--I don't know--but, right now, it's looking pretty swell.
When I did thief episode 2, I got sneeze, and poison needle (max 2, poison 1, 3 uses per turn), and had 2 lockpicks. I upgraded daggers, poison needle, and sneeze and just went to town with 1s, poisoning 5 time per turn, and dealing tons of +1 damage with the dagger. I think at one poibt I had 18 or 23 dice with maybe 3 - 4 non 1s, but still less than 4.
It was the mist fun Ive had on a run, and Ill probably never be that lucky again xD

Any Odd requirement equipment is god-tier on this run. snatching Echo Blast from the loud bird is so good
I had this same run, but instead of battle ax I stole Sneeze's dice splitting move. I ended up rearranging my equipment because it was so annoying dragging so many 1s across the screen.
"What could I have done?" Doesn't ever try to steal a single fucking equipment which is the whole point of the run
A better episode than most mistake wise. Honestly you just have to slow down. It's not like you are riffing in isaac, your commentary is solely on the game so who cares if you talk things out fully? Also splitting 1s is nice, but it isn't the go to move for every run. I feel like some of those automatic moves you make limit your potential

I will say that watching this is a rollcoaster as you seem to make really weird mistakes but at least are more finding them as you play.
Always put a die in battle axe if you have a 2, 3, or 4. It’s simply better than dagger.
It was weird when he said battleaxe- was horrible because even 2x a max of 2 is better than 2+1
Dagger + is insanely OP
Hey NL you tend to leave the battle axe unused, but it's better than dagger+ for all usable dice (except a 1 where it's equal).
You also don't use 5s and 6s and end the turn instead of putting them into Finders Keepers

Has option of 2 items and an upgrade. Compares the two items and decides he wants neither and just ignores the upgrade? Chooses not to take a free upgrade? I am fairly certain he ha equipment that could have benefited from an upgrade.

@@sebastianwillows episode 2 for robot is duplicate dice automatically vanish(only the new one you roll). Kind of annoying because planning moves risks rolling a dupe

Yeah, that first run... that's my problem with this game. I feel like very often my own input is completely irrelevant. I mean, you pick equipment and one says "do x damage" and other equipment will do something similar but do something on top of that. The choice there isn't exactly rocket science. You pick the equipment that does more. I feel like my input here sucks.
Or what about the equipment that does poison damage, and you no other equipment that does poison damage. It's completely useless. This isn't a hard choice, and not really a fun one either.
It's not even the rolls that annoy me. Most of the time the rolls can be manipulated anyway. The Witch doesn't even really need specific numbers. The Warrior can reroll three times by default. The Thief has the lockpick. The Robot will always hit his CPU limit. The rolls themselves are only a small part of the RNG problem.
But just getting shit equipment can be so annoying. What are you even supposed to do at that point? You can't even always decide who to fight. Like you fighting that Marshmellow. You couldn't fight someone else (I think, not gonna scroll back). You literally got shit rolls and terrible equipment against an enemy suddenly a lot stronger than the level 1 enemies and you just died. Literally nothing you can do.
I hate that. At least in Isaac you can compensate. In Slay the Spire it really isn't ever THAT bad and the path you chose is a large reason why you died anyway. In this game, you just kind of die and it's a waste of your time and it's not fun that way.
I like the game in general, but damn, the RNG is too powerfull.
I died like 10 consecutive times to this challenge within the first 2 floors. It is so hard to get a good start when your passive and limit break do so little in the earlygame.
Trust me, your t-shirt isnt nearly as embarrassing as the fact that youre just so bad at this that you have to rely on luck to win.

Guys, I've been attempting the Witch and I've lost faith in my life.
Just finally finished this damn Challenge. The Thief just is wayyy to weak in the first two floors and it's just frustrating dying because you always roll fives and sixes that split into >3 values or maybe the occasional one. There's like literally nothing you can do and you just have to hope to get past the first few floors on autopilot... definitely needs some fixes.
