So I've just finished it... and I just want to share it: this game has the best sense of adventure I've ever experienced in any game ever. Simply a masterpiece... Level 5 is now one of my top favorite studios! Give us Ni No Kuni 2 please :)

Sadly 2 was not as great as 1 and even the combat which was suppose to be better was just too easy even on the hardest difficulty and just took away the magic the first one had

Ni No Kuni is the Pokemon game we always wanted!
I bought this last year played a couple of hours and really couldn't for some reason or other get into the gameplay. But recently I ended picking it up again - I'm so glad I did. The story/gameplay is utterly unique. The best RPG I've played in a long long while.
I picked this game up at a car boot sale/ garage sale a few years ago, and I honestly loved it. I’ve played over 200 hours (two near 100% runs) of it, which is the longest I’ve over put into one singular game. The hand drawn cutscenes were amazing and I always loved them
Bought this for 15 bucks on the switch e-shop, I started it today and I'm currently about 6 hours into it and I am in LOVE!!

One of my favorite games of all time, up there with dark souls
I can't decide if I prefer this or Dark Souls also candidates for my favorite games of the 360/PS3/Wii era. Another one way up there is Xenoblade Chronicles.

greetings from the future! we have Pokemon on the Nintendo switch. Sadly this looks way better than Pokemon sword and shield on the switch. plus it even has voice acting and a beautiful score. This came out 7 years ago! Nintendo and game freak... WTH BRO!!!
Greetings from 2 months into the future! Im assuming we’re both here watching this, after the fact of picking it up on switch lol. I’ve also bought dark cloud 2 and rogue galaxy this week. I never touched Pokémon S&S, but I can agree that this is more fun than Pokémon based on reviews and gameplay videos alone. I’m having more fun with these old Level 5 RPG’s than any new game that’s released recently. If you haven’t played them already, I’d definitely recommend both games!

If you like Japanese games you should give Okami a try. It is heavily inspired by Japanese mythology. A truly beautiful game. The only down side is that its way to easy.

Gosh im in love with this game. The scenery is amazing, the music is gorgeous and the cutscenes are awesome (and by that i mean the animations made by studio ghibli).
Havent finished the game yet,
But so far this is my take on the game.
The goods
• beautiful artstyle
• classic ghibli animation
• lovable characters
• fun story
• great voice acting
• tons of monter to capture
• tons of bosses
• tons of places to visit
• tons of equipment
The bads
• grinding
• walking around
• lack of voice acting
• fetch side quest
• dumb AI party (wont block enemy special attack)
• slow pacing in battle and storywise
• no replay value
For your cons, I will say that you do get options to move faster and reduce grinding. Around 20 hours into the game you unlock a fast travel system.
The slow pacing just isn't for you and the voice acting is because it was a PS3 game, but it has a lot more than some modern day games. And the fetch side quests, just deal with them. I don't actually mind them, though.
Muravic Bustara later on in the game, you get an option which allows you to tell all party members to either defend or attack. Yes, it is a bit awkward having to time it, but I’d also recommend giving them at least on high defence familiar so it doesn’t hurt as much

I wonder what's the difference of a 9.4 score to a 9.5? Sometimes I do miss the easy ratings of Xplay with the addition of the half star.

I’ve heard about this game before. When it was released on Playstation, but never took to me.. Until I saw it discounted for €9,99 in the Nintendo Eshop. That was two weeks ago. And now I’ve finished this game. I’ve never ever cried for a game story. Yet it had me bawling within the first 15 minutes. This game is AMAZING. The music, the story, the battle system and the use of anime 😭 Absolutely love this game ♥️
I am currently at 10 hours playing this game and it got me hooked. So glad to get this on my switch!
Played this when it came out. It is one of the most positive experiences i've had with my PS3. I loved it so much.

Hey guys, whats the difference between the Kings cat claw, and the Dragons tooth weapon? Just for the name alone im leaning towards dragons tooth weapon but is there any major difference in getting one over the other???
I'm playing this on my Nintendo Switch and loving it. It's completely charming, from its art style and music. Highly recommended.

Love the combination of action/turn based battles
This was the 1st JRPG I ever truly played to completion. Normally im more of a Western RPG player (mass effect, skyrim, borderlands?) and I thought that I wouldn't get into it and maybe get bored 10 hours in. 90 hours later and its officially my GOTY beating The Last of Us. It has great style, characters, heart and just really brought me back to me childhood and gave me a real sense of adventure and wonder. They teach you everything all the time so I think its a really good 1st RPG to try :)
This game is one of the best I've played in a long time. I gave up on gaming for like two years but this game brought me back!
Such a wonderful and extraordinary game that has so much charm in it. I cannot wait to see the second of the series and even though it won't be with the main cast as in this version, the charm i am hoping is still there with the new cast. great review

This IS a game for children, but it can be easily enjoyed by all ages.
@@brnk2 its too hard children actually lol. The only thing that makes this for children honestly is the art style but thats basically the same as saying superhero movies or disney movies are for children because of that.
If you like either Studio Ghibli or JRPGs then that is a definite YES! It's a great family game too, might be a bit difficult for younger kids to grasp the combat but it's still fun to watch in action.

Yes, at the start you can choose your text language (English, Spanish, French, etc) and the game installs only that one, but you can change audio language from the main menu as often as you want (only English and Japanese), and it will work even if you load a savegame.
I'm glad my friend introduced me to this game when I still had a PS3 and that Level-5 is making the sequel for ps4 AND PC this time, since I'm pretty much an pc gamer now. This game is a must-have played game imo. Hopefully the sequel will live up to it's predecessor.
My thoughts exactly! I usually have to deal with enemies (especially bosses) by myself, while the other two party members lay dead. Still, I like the game a lot!

I would say so I havn't played a jrpg since Kingdom Hearts 2 and I have been sucked into that world so easily it blows my mind. The game gives u advice at a nice pace so u dont feel overwhelmed, and there is a trusty guide book u can refer to that is easy to read if u can't remember what to do.
By the way, the localization made a lot of changes regarding character names, so if you play with Japanese audio the game will still name the characters by their English names in the subtitles, and it can be confusing at times, just a heads-up.

Man I've been loving this game. This is one of my favorite games of all time, and also I'm at the tombstone trail and I still have 3 un metamorfed creatures that haven't even metamorfed at all come at me!

There's a skill that you can get early on that makes oliver run faster on the world map, that helps alleviate that problem for the most part. The rest is all about taking angles to avoid them when you need to.
Color me intrigued. Never really played JRPGs, but I'm interested in expanding to different genres outside of the usual Halos and GTAs.
I used to think that the ps3 was a bad console. Boy was I wrong!

I completely agree with you. I just found out what this game was about the other day and can't wait to get a copy myself and actually go out capture, train, and battle all kinds of monsters. This is almost a dream come true for me.
I think it was handled as well as it could have been handled. Every thing tied in well. The White Witch had said that if Shadar failed she would step in personally so I feel like once she had played her hand, there really wasn't much else that could have transpired before the epic conclusion. Ollie has to basically become more powerful than the Sages to defeat Shadar in the first place, there really wasn't much more growth he could have needed to face down the white witch.

Just got this on the e-shop summer sale for $20!! Its such a steal
The Tales of series has a similar real-time battle system, so its worth checking out (Xillia or Vesperia, Graces is ok). Visual style-wise you could try the Atelier series (it can get kind of moe though). As for the whole gotta-catch-em-all thing, Folklore or Persona 3/4 are good bets. Pretty good stories too.
Also if you have a PS2, Dark Cloud and Rogue Galaxy are from the same developer as Ni no Kuni.

This game is pretty easy to find in the UK for better or for worse. Good thing is its not hard to find a new copy for under £20, but well there only reason there's so many copies available is probably because it didn't sell as well as it should in the UK which is a shame.

Yes. It is very approachable, but hard at parts. It isn't nearly as complex as a game such as Final Fantasy, yet has the difficulty to give you incentive to get better at the game and work hard to grind, do side quests, and use alchemy (not as difficult as it originally sounds). Definitely pick this one up!
I have to make a chose Nino Kuni on PS3 or Xenoblade Chronicles on the WiiU ? which one to play first ? I like both genres, I've just completed Dragon Age Inquisition and I'm not playing Witcher 3 on PS4 day one until as many bugs as possible are fixed. PS .. Dragon Quest 8 is my no. 3 game of all time so is it likely that I'll like this game ?

I just started downloading it to my new 750GB hard drive; I'm excited to play tomorrow! I was looking for something with an old-school feel, something totally different from everything I've been playing recently. As much as I love my fantasy FPS and 3rd person action with all the guns, gore and such, if all the good feedback is correct, this will be just what the doctor ordered.

Level 5 made one of of my favorite games of all time Dark Cloud 2 while Studio Ghibli has made some of my favorite movies of all time as well like spirited away, Princess Mononoke, and Howls moving castle. but in current times they been making misses like White Knight Chronicles and the movie ponya. its great to know they decided to work together to make this game. i just bought it and im just waiting to download this game. seeing this has hyped me a bit more now. thank you Flash Sales too because i was able to get this game for 5 bucks as well.

I have the game, but the US version. I finished the game on Japanese VA with English SUB and I'm pretty sure you can have the same thing on EU version.
