Encanto 2 is on the horizon with the full Madrigal Family potentially returning for the sequel. But what will this new story have in store for us fans? I have the perfect theory.

If we get Encanto 2 it should honestly involve Mirabel, Isabela, and Luisa traveling to an ancient realm where a possible ancestor originated the magic to learn that Pedro was associated with magic and lived in said realm, and most of all, I would like for them to find out why Mirabel was denied a gift.
If Disney can do a Frozen sequel that addresses why Elsa had powers, there is no reason why they can’t do an Encanto sequel that reveals why Mirabel was denied a magical gift in the first place.
Other details I would like to see are:
- the family blindfolding Mirabel and surprising her with her own door and room with something from each member
- all three sisters as children at the very beginning of the film instead of just Mirabel
- Isabela as more badass now that she is her true self
- Luisa with softer features now that she is less pressured and more relaxed, maybe even let her hair down
- Pedro appearing as a ghost and thus having a speaking role
- Mirabel, Luisa, and Isabela having sleepovers in Isabela’s room (though they could also do so in a Disney+ series)
- the film taking place three years after the events of the first film, making Mirabel and Camilo both 18, Isabela and Dolores both 24, Luisa 22, and Antonio 8
- the Madrigals, specifically the three sisters, wearing new outfits, like travel clothes
- maybe the sisters could even come across the remains of Abuela’s old village and discover the truth about the invaders

magical realism is the genre of the first movie. The magic doesn’t need an explanation it’s a “miracle” having to explain the magic would ruin the significance of pedros sacrifice if he was magic all along or smth. As we learnt with frozen 2 some things just don’t need unnecessary explanations
And there can be a sub plot about bruno
+focusing on fixing the cracks and Abuela struggling to change her ways. These things don’t change overnight after all.
What about the theory that Dolores is evil and that she wants the miracle to die?
Encanto 2 is an interesting thing, as a colombian i can tell you the movie paid homage to some of the country's painful hystory, the conflict that drove Abuela Alma to flee is implied to be "la guerra de los mil dias" a real conflict that took place between 1899 and 1902, if we assume encanto happens around 50 years after that, that would put the mountains opening to another of our historical conflicts (this country has been in constant internal conflicts), this time around they would come out to the country being under a dictatorship
I honestly think that if there is an encanto 2, they should focus the story on the other side of the family, with camilo, dolores and antonio, explaining more of their struggles like they did for mirabel, isabella and luisa in the first
Another interesting fact is one of the many reason the grandmother was trying to marry the Isabella to that guy was because Isabella looks almost exactly like the grandma looked when she was young (except a ‘perfect’ version, with the hair and skin and figure), and that guy looks like her husband (except a more ‘perfect’ version, with the muscles and height) so living vicariously thru her them.
I also love how Dolores not only know Bruno was still there but actively hid him from family, like when they are singing we don’t talk about Bruno the way she keeps mirabel looking/facing away from Bruno who is sneaking past them on the second floor behind them. She had to have heard him from the beginning but understood why he was hiding. And the plate of food she is loading up on in the breakfast scene, ends up with Bruno when he shows the rat tv novella, she just nibbled on it while sitting with family.
i always thought that the reason she didn't have a gift, was because she was going to be the new protector of the candle, following her grandmothers footsteps as leader of the family do to being chosen/savior of the candle and its magic. came to this conclusion simply because the grandmother also doesn't have a gift and well, shes not exactly going to be around forever. Would also explain why at the end of Encanto. the house itself was mirabel's gift, just as the house being built for Abuela, was her gift from the magic.
I hope we get a sequel, and get to see more of Camilo!!

There is kind of an abandoned plot point from the first movie that never actually goes anywhere. Early on in the movie Luisa reveals how she feels like her worth is entirely in what she can do for others and that she doesn't have any time for herself. After Surface Pressure she kind of spends the rest of the movie crying a lot and slowly losing her powers but her personal issues are never really resolved as the plot was so focused on Mirabel. I think Encanto 2 should really focus more on Luisa as the main character. Maybe her powers have come back to full strength with the magic restored but she ends up going right back to what she was doing before, always working to help others and never doing anything just for herself. Surface Pressure is one of my favorite songs in the movie and it would be nice to see a full character arc for Luisa. Especially considering how much I personally relate to the struggle of trying to find that balance between wanting to help others without being taken advantage of in the process.
My plot for Encanto 2 is now that the mountains have opened up, the family meets the other side of the magic. The cursed side. The generational trauma of the family that murdered Abuelo Pedro are cursed. It harms them and those around them. The family is led by an angry son to the man who murdered Pedro and that anger manifests into a beast. The main child of their story can copy a power from someone by touching their door and he befriends Camillo to find the head of the family's power to destroy the magic so they can be free from the curse. Except borrowing a power breaks the kid, cracks are formed on his body but he doesn't want to kill Mirabel, so he instead takes her place to save her from his own family and Mirabel heals him to save him. That is my headcannon for a sequel.
I don't want a sequel I want a Encanto TV series on Disney+ that focuses on the entire family not just Mirabel!

If you ask me, I think Encanto 2 should include Isabela married to the Deleted guy from the first move, Dolores married to Mariano, the family traveling to a world outside the walls of Encanto, and the sisters and cousins getting along just fine.
I wanted Isabella to marry Mariano. Dolores should marry the Deleted guy instead.

Or the encanto family starts glitching again but instead of loosing their gifts their gifts change. So like Antonio starts turning into the animals werewolf style, Isabella starts killing plants, Luisa starts to make things have an anti gravity effect, Bruno starts seeing the past, Dolores starts to hear peoples thoughts, Camilo starts to make others shapeshift, pepa starts to become the elements of the weather like a living tornado, and Mirabel goes from no powers to taking on all of them if she touches people. Maybe it’s after Abuelas passing and they feel they can’t cope with the powers on their own without her guidance. Eventually they realise it’s not a glitch but that their powers are evolving. Maybe the Encanto starts changing too and they have to learn to take control of their new abilities in order to tame their Encato like Isabella has to kill the mile a minute that’s growing more like a mile a second and taking over the town.
Encanto 2 should definitely explore the possibility of multiple miracles. You see what if the madrigal family wasn’t the only family to tap into the magic energy that was released on that night. What if that night more communities were created with the magic. What if certain communities used their gifts to kill the soldiers and stop the attack and the moment they killed in rage they became beasts. They could explore the ancient and urban legends. The creatures had wiped all communities with the magic but three. It’s better that they keep three communities because this way we can get to explore more histories of what happened that night. The mystery of the magic etc can be explored. What if one of the families from the other communities only gained psychic or elemental talents (aquatic,) they could also explore the difference between the magic under a patriarchy

an Encanto movie sequel needs to happen, since I loved the first installment!!! I wouldn't be surprised if we see new additional members that were born into the family not long after the Casita got fixed and the Casita expands by itself magically and creates new additional doors to compliment the new additions on their special day when they are about to find out if they gain a power or not seen as those new additions would be about the age that Antonio was in the first installment.
The reason it reached such a large amount of views was it was used as a litmus to test relationship compatibility. If you love the movie you were raised on love, if you hate the movie you were raised on survival. The two are opposites and relationships between the two, often to never, work out.
Wasnt encanto [1?] enough? not every movie needs a sequel- unless its a good sequel.. Disney has a habit of uh not good sequels..

Well I think they would be new additions to the family madrigal! What if Mirabel was married to a guy who had magic and she would give birth to three children? First there is Eduardo who is the oldest in the only son and he's very sneaky like a Bart Simpson character in fact you so sneaky that he turns invisible especially at night! The second is Rosa she has the power to control water! And last but not least Maria and her gift is very complicated because she's an artist or whatever she draws comes to life and she wouldn't know how to control it or reverse the spell! It'll be just like diseased Frozen only it's different and Mirabel would have to try to find a way to reverse the spell for Maria and everyone else! And the father's name would be Carlos and he has the power to move objects! Like Mirabel's family he too has a gift but he had a different family who doesn't have powers and he was the only one who has a gift! Let's just say it is a long story! But the point is Maria who is the youngest daughter of Mirabel would be just like Elsa only Maria is the youngest member of the family! And the last thing that Maria wanted was to crowd up the whole town with her live drawings! And it's up to her mother Mirabel to try to help her daughter reverse the spell just like when Anna was trying to help Elsa reverse the spell of ice and snow from Frozen! Wouldn't that make a great adventure for Encanto 2?

The I feel like with the whole Isabella rejecting her suitor and the fact that in we don't talk about Bruno Isabella didn't mention anything about falling in love I feel shows the fact that she is maybe lesbian or asexual. She did say she was just marrying him for the family and Abuela's toxic behavior being shown throughout the movie with pressuring her to get married and have kids I feel in the sequel we should see her either get a girlfriend or just stay single because I feel like that would compliment her storyline better than getting a boyfriend. Just like Elsa.

The producers for Encanto did such a great job at making the viewer hate Abuela bc I fr fr hated her- like I was fuming because of the way she treated Mirabel

She doesn't spread rumours and the one time we see her use that gift of hearing in a way that could be considered negative is when she told the family about Bruno's prophecy of Mirabel, and even that she probably knew Isa didn't want to be in that marriage and was looking for an out for the both of them anyways, Mirabel just provided the perfect one.

I think if anyone is a villain it’s Mariano or at the very least Mariano’s family
It appears that Mariano is very eager to get married and actually doesn’t care who he marries in the Madrigals
The moment he saw Dolores he immediately got over Isabela which means he didn’t love her only the idea of her
The first thing he says to Dolores was let’s get married before they even had a chance to see if their relationship would work in the first place
I also think that the fact that a flower keeps punching him in the face suggests that the magic itself doesn’t trust Mariano
If he gets married to say Dolores it would that whatever kid they’ll have will have some sort of magical gift which I think is what they are after
Also I think that Dolores with her gift has the potential to be another Bruno in the next generation
Her gift does in fact ruin things as it actually ruined Isabelas proposal

Mariano is not a villain and neither is his family, you should be ashamed of yourself for even thinking it. he should have been eager to marry Isabella, she's the best and most beautiful of them. Dolores isn't as Attractive as Isabella, he should have refused to get over her. He should have said that to Isabella instead. the magic is just against him for no reason.

Honestly? I feel like Encanto would have benefitted from being made in 2D. The bright colors, the movements, all that would have looked amazing in 2D animation.

I kinda want a second movie cause i love the setting and the people, but i also think that it would be close to impossible for them to make a sequel worthy of the first film and that kinda makes me not want it.
Just let it stay as a shining little star for itself.
See, the thing about Disney is that it is a company aimed towards children. People of younger audiences. Nowadays, this is evident as their works are typically childish and lack any depth. And despite how Encanto still had its serious moments and represented mature topics, it still lacked depth in many aspects.
That is why these sort of topics are never done justice in movies, especially from companies like Disney. A movie is too short to correctly present these things. And any serious idea that blooms which is generally good-an idea that would possibly rake in millions of more mature audiences around the world-would be inevitably shut down due to the other fact that Disney aims their works at children.
At the end of the day, a sequel to this movie wouldn't be good. They already managed to somehow hit both audiences in the first, depsite it's minor flaws. Since the family fixed their problems, rebuilt their house, regained the magic, and ran off into the sunset of relaxation there really is not anything left to do. Creating a sequel would just force something that isn't there. And unless we want a semi-serious series to build off this, I rather not. Let's hope Disney can create a great movie from scratch.

How would a person with a stupid strong hearing become a villain seriously well I do get the reason why in her case
i would personally like to see isabella be queer, i don't really care if it's lesbian, bi pan or maybe queer in gender. since she felt she always needed to be perfect, she may have pushed the feelings aside for her family. and i know, not everything has to be lgbtq+, but we those who are really love seeing these bits, preferably longer than the 2 seconds that can be edited out of the movie. we can already see that disney missed a BIIIIGGG hit when you look at nimona. they also took a misstep with cancelling the owl house simply because it didn't fit "the disney brand" and i think most of us owl house fans know that that means. and i am tired or having disney characters be "overly gay", i can't quite explain what i mean by that but i think most understand.
i hope most people will understand my points and even if this won't be in encanto 2, i won't hate it for it. i would just like it a little more if they did do something like this :3
Something I thought would be cute? If at some point in the movie Isabella got a girl instead of a boy and came out as a lesbian to abueela. That would be her one "imperfection"! Cute right?
