    I enjoyed the scenery in this video. It brought back a very happy memory for me. Many years ago, I traveled this route on the regular train with my girlfriend. I was going down to Kaoshiung for a job interview. Besides enjoying the bright green countryside and the traditional architecture one thing that really surprised us was how huge the bananas were in Taiwan. They can pick them when they are yellow, unlike the bananas available in the States that are picked when they are green before being shipped to the States. Ours are much smaller. Thanks for bringing back a wonderful memory of my youth and my lifelong sweetheart, who has unfortunately passed away. Looking forward to your upcoming vlogs. Take care and don't forget how lucky the two of you are to have each other and to be experiencing this fascinating time in your lives. ♥️🙏🏽🌎

    I remember when I was young travelling with my mother on the train. When the train stops you could open the window and lean out to buy a bento box from people outside. I loved to bento boxes. The toilet has only a whole straight down to the track. It was long time ago. Now I live in Sweden ;)

    • @chopsticktravel
      @chopsticktravel  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That would be awesome if you could still get bento boxes this way. Usually you just buy them inside the train stations before getting on the train.

    • @DanielWang246
      @DanielWang246 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the one u mentioned could buy a bento box from people outside was traditional train system, which was totally different from HSR. But unfortunately, there’s no more traditional train in the traditional train system, you just can see the electric train for instead in the traditional train system (the Taiwan Railways)!

    I am a hongkonger that moved to Taichung live since 2017. Excluding the terminal stations Zuoying and Nangang, I think all taiwan high speed trains will stop at Taichung, Taipei, Banqiao!
    I think if you take TRA from Taipei to Kaohsiung Xinzuoying station (next to zuoying hsr) cost around NT$800 (half the price) or something, and takes about 5 hours from north to south area which is much longer than your ride!
    But anyways, enjoy your time in Taiwan.

    Wow! Thank you so much for this amazing video! Taiwan never stops to amaze me. Not only is it an inspirational country, that my country (Czechia) has so much to learn from, not only do they have amazing, truly high-speed trains, the views from the train are stunning, too. I am still a bit iffy about flying (I've flewn before, however, that was a long time ago, when global warming didn't seem as serious), but if I ever fly again, Taiwan will be the destination.
    Much love to the inspiring, brave and truly progressive Taiwanese nation. For me and many other Czech citizens, Taiwan is the only true China. 🇨🇿❤️🇹🇼

    You missed one feature of the bullet train; the seats can swivel around 180 degrees to face the other direction. It is activated by the foot pedal under the seats.

    Thanks for your video. I grew up loving the train rides in Taiwan. The best ones were the sleeper cars. I really miss looking out the window, drinking the hot tea, and the best foods were sold on the trains. Thanks for sharing your ride!

    The Taiwanese are really smart to invest into Japanese railway into their country. These trains will serve for a long time before a replacement is needed

    HSR Taichung Station is the only place where you can see three kinds of railway systems(traditional railway, high speed rail & local metro system) on the ground at the same time.

    • @julianRNtw

      kwxj61b No, it’s just because of scheduling of train. It’s not necessary for every train to run at full speed all the time.

    Worsening politics: the sister series trains in Japan (700 series shinkansen) are mearing the end of their lives meaning that parts will soon be hard to come by.
    Allows CRRC or even Alstom to overtake for replacement vehicles.

    How come the station in Kaohsiung is called Zuoying station?

    • @cmshih5519
      @cmshih5519 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Zuoying is an administrative district in Kaohsiung. Originally, the high speed train was planned to be extended to downtown Kaohsiung which I believe will be named as Kaohsiung. But that plan was abandoned.
