    Subscribe goo.gl/Y8ZVar
The Shanghai Maglev is the fastest train in the world! The train runs at top speeds of 431 km/h and travels between downtown Shanghai and The Pudong International Airport. The maglev train will whizz you the 31.5 kilometers in just under 8 minutes!!
    Shanghai Maglev cost:
    Single trip ticket - 50RM
    Round trip ticket - 80RM
Single trip ticket VIP - 100RM
Round trip ticket VIP - 160RM
One of the reasons we travelled to Shanghai was actually to ride this train. As we are both train nerds and this was a once in a life experience we decided to pay the extra money and go in VIP because YOLO... Or something like that!

There're new "low-speed" maglev commuter trains running in Beijing and Changsha, and there are more and more lines under construction. They goes "only" 120km/h in the city. Not that fancy, but the benefit to use low-speed maglev in metro system is to reduce noise. Running at 100km/h, they are pretty much as quiet as a regular passenger car.

This just brought back the memory of my tour in 2015. We took the same bullet train from airport to city, avoiding all the traffic. Such wonderful experience and I took videos and pictures and showed it to my son on return. He was really impressed. He is a train driver here in UK.
Our tour was all organised by Wendy Wu tours, such wonderful time! The train was quieter and more comfortable than expected.
What is VIP ticket of 100RM in £'s? No idea what we paid, didn't ask.
Such excitement! honestly! not scary at all.
Will do it again given the chance. But did Japan not came out with an even faster bullet train?
All these competitions, quite pointless to me. I loved my travel. Thank you for sharing.

Levitation means to rise up - ie. floating above the ground.
Think of the word Lever, Levitate, Levant(the place in East of Europe-Sun rises in East)
The word llevar in Spanish means to rise up or for carrying. I think there would be similar words in Portuguese French Romanian etc the word ultimately coming from Latin.

Fun fact, when China ordered this German technology….Transrapid had to scramble to build very first high speed maglev into service in a span of only a few months. The prototype didn’t even have that stuff. It looks like ICE 3 style on the sides of the train.
I didn’t know they go slower during off peak hours. interesting!

The Amtrak auto train (FL to VA) is a pretty cool experience if you get a sleeper car. The food was great too.

    • @bklyncyclist
      @bklyncyclist ปีที่แล้ว

I hope this comment was in jest. I've been on both and can't say I was at all impressed by the auto train. By the time you get it loaded with your car and then get off short of your destination it just isn't worth the bother. The Maglev OTOH is just incredible. I tried to convince my colleagues to come with me on it to the airport but they insisted on taking a taxi. I walked to the metro (West Nanjing) with my suitcase, took what turned out to be a slow ride on it to Longyang Rd, looked for the Maglev, bought the ticket, just missed a train, and I STILL got to the airport before they did. According to this video it only runs full speed at certain times, but I didn't know that and I have a recording on my app at full speed.
