Coming from delivery for an Amazon DSP driving the vans to now driving my own vehicle and getting paid per block. With working for a company we'd be out 10 hours a day and only make $175 with Flex I make $80 to $90 a block I can do a 4 hr shift then do a few door dashes and make almost $300 to $400 a day. I regularly side hustle with Amazon Flex as well. If I had to give some pointers. This location looks like Seffner too! But the BEST offers that pay $110+ are in the mornings that start like 3:30AM-4AM. I’ve been consistently been getting offers $125-$150 for a 4-4.5 hr block. And I know I can “REALLY” finish in 2-3.5hrs. These offers are great, done with my day by 7am-8am. the only downside is these are SUPER early and (at least for me) you won’t see these offers unless you actively keep refreshing the app the night before between 9:30pm-12am. Keep Grinding!!!

The yellow stickers on the packages are in numerical order by stop. Also. There’s a QR code on the bin containers. Scan that and it scans all the packages in that container. Saves time at the station. Walmart has collapsible laundry baskets for organizing your smalls. Whole Foods shifts get crazy tips! Happy Flexing!

    • @Dbdorr
      @Dbdorr 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

Just a warning about scanning the barcode on the bin to scan everything. It's not always accurate. They may throw in a mis-sorted package by accident. Or remove a package that belongs on your route after it's already been assigned to the bin and you'll be missing one. It's best to always scan each package individually. I know it takes a little longer but you'll know exactly what you have.

I used Gig Moms system on my first order yesterday and it worked great! I scanned each package then scanned again and it showed the stop # as I scanned each package and I wrote it on the package. I put packages # 1-10 in my front seat/floor and 11-22 in the back of my car. If you watch Gig Moms video she shows you how to do it step by step. It sounds time consuming but its not, i was able to grab my cart of packages scan them twice and load all 22 packages in my car and be done in 15 minutes.

I'm retired from FedEx and I mapped out my deliveries FIRST, then you can set them up in order. Use a milk crate to line up the small letters/pkgs and the bigger boxes can be stacked according to which address comes first on the map.

When you click itinerary, scroll up. Scan each package and label it by number with a sharpie. Place them in your car in order (last delivery first). You had a pretty simple route, once you get to 40+ packages it will slow you down if you're searching for them!

      @@SaraElizabethYT hi Sarah.
If you could include some descriptions for those of us like myself you have no vision such as where you get the packages from if they’re like big storage bins or lockers just so I can kind of imagine what the process involves if that makes any sense. You do a great job in all the other videos so I do really appreciate being able to hear more of Amazon flex and whether you like it don’t like it and things of that nature. Thanks again for sharing the experience with all of us. Could you also let us know whether you’re using the phone to scan these packages or whether they supply you with a device or whether you are using the Amazon flex app for the scanning. I have listened to other Amazon flex videos and they don’t really describe what the process involves it’s very visual and it’s hard to determine what goes on once you reach the warehouse what you actually do when you get there etc. Thanks very much Sarah.

Amazon Flex is cool, except apartments can be a pain, because of codes and Amazon mailrooms. Haven't watched this yet but, it's hard to imagine you doing Flex alone, it can be very stressful. I loved it I'm just not close to a warehouse anymore.
A little road trip oh just wait until you do it alone. Scan, organize, mailroom issues all by yourself.
So, I found the best method is put them in alphabetical order by street name, then I group like A-H in back seat, I-O, P-Z in the back of my SUV grouped in 2 groups. I take all thin/envelope pkgs and put them in alphabetical order on passenger front seat. Then number streets in order by number on passenger floor. It gets quicker each time you do it at the warehouse. I also grab the next drop off after dropping off a package and put it up front with me if it isn't already.
When I get down to about 10 or 15 pkgs I bring them all to the back seat.
Most mailrooms I find are by the exercise facilities. Always have your ID, some apartments make you leave it for a key for elevator or something.
Good luck and be ready the first time you do it alone it will for sure be a totally different experience.
You do have a certain time to bring pkgs back to the warehouse by the next day so you don't have to take them back the same day.
You can get deactivated for not delivering pkgs though. You're supposed to call support and see what they recommend. If it's late because of issues you will still get dinged for it and if it's not delivered at all you will get dinged for it, but you can only have so many late or non deliveries before they deactivate you.
You might want to get at least one of those big blue IKEA bags for upstairs or apartments with a lot of packages. I have a wagon and IKEA bags. They are just a dollar or two but will come in handy.

My first time doing Amazon Flex they scheduled me for 2 hours. They gave me 40 packages and the delivery area was 30 minutes away. I’m not sure how Amazon could think I could deliver 40 packages in an hour and a half. It took me 3 1/2 hours. Then they wanted to pay me just for 2 hours. I had to call and insist that they pay me for the hours I actually worked. They did eventually, but if I didn’t insist they would not have. That left a bad taste in my mouth. It was at Christmas time and I think they were really taking advantage of people. I agree just getting all the packages in one shot and delivering is great. But having to fight for your pay that’s wrong. I may try it again but it makes me really nervous.

@@patana256 Hi, at the time I didn’t know what to expect. The warehouse was in the next town over and I thought I’d be delivering there. I didn’t realize they could send me to a town that could be an hour away before I even start delivering. My problem with them was not just time difference, it was that they were only going to pay me for two hours of work knowing that I worked more then that. It was disingenuous. You shouldn’t have to fight for the money that you worked for.

The same thing happened to me this year. The carts have a route sheet on them that correspond to the packages on the cart. I signed up for a 3 hour block and the guy gave me a 4 hour route. He swiped the sheet off the cart, and took my phone and overrode the scan your route part and then handed it back and told me to start scanning. I emailed driver support and they paid me for the extra time I took as a result. Luckily they got back to me the next morning so there wasn’t any delay with pay. It’s one of those “lesson learned” things. Now i know to watch for that kind of stuff

Based on this video I decided to give Amazon Flex a try. Did two shifts in different locations. The first was a "Flex Now" that I started in Springfield, VA and went from 1-3pm. It took me a while to figure out where to go because I have to literally drive into the warehouse and pick up my cart. For three trips it was a massive haul, with the first customer having EIGHTEEN ITEMS, but once I got the three trips done the rest was pretty easy, even with two of them being in downtown DC which I usually never do.
Now my second trip was a little more daunting. I did a 4 hour block starting at 5:15pm from Sterling, VA which is closer to where I lived. I figured it would have been just as easy as the Springfield job, but I did not like the way they handled drivers. They all herded us like cattle and were like "here, get your boxes scanned and loaded. You got 5 minutes to do this." I felt like I was in Squid Game the way they treated us. I also found out that my delivery route was going to be in Bristow, VA, which is about 30 minutes southwest of Sterling. It also didn't help that the route there was held down by the combination of road work and rush hour, something I usually don't have a problem with when I drove for GH and Uber at that time. Fortunately though the 35 (yes, 35) deliveries I had to make were in generally the same area, with the most I had to drive between drops being about 2 miles. I was able to get all 35 done by my closing time of 9:15, and at the minimum I made $112 for both sessions. ($32 for Flex Now and $80 for the 4 hour shift.) There is a chance that I might get tips for the Flex Now shift but I won't know until tomorrow. And that's something I don't like about Flex, how I don't know my exact earnings until 24 hours after the shift ends, let alone not being able to cash out each night which I always did with Uber and GH. Plus I can easily make that same amount in the usual 5 hours a day I do with those services, while using less gas.
I'm glad your experience was good, and I hope it continues that way for you, but for me, I think I'm just going to stick with Uber and GH.

@@SaraElizabethYT I think that might have been the only good things about my second run last night...there were no apartments in the Bristow area so they were all in-an-out. I even had three houses altogether at once, plus one of the customers was an Amazon Key. He saw me outside and offered to pick up the item himself, but also allowed me to try out the Key feature on his garage as it was my first try. So I guess there were some good moments but I don't think it's going to replace my food runs as they've been pretty good to me.

Each zone that is sectioned in your car should be in numerical order of the yellow sticker bottom number. Usually you get 35-60 packages and this system will work flawlessly. I have Amazon deliveries nearly every day and what I find important to people doing the job is to give the feedback in the emails sent by Amazon, I always give "Delivered with care" unless they leave it in the middle of the road which they have not. :) They don't always leave it in the safe spot that I have setup but somewhat understandable as they would have to come into the backyard and pass a fence. I have to imagine they might imagine I have a big bad doggie on the other side.. ;) I don't but I can understand.

So here was my experience with flex. I completely accidentally opened a second account and they banned me. I got a new phone and forgot which email address that I used to sign it. I wondered why it asked me for my name and I thought that it was for verification but apparently it was for sign up. I just thought it did that because it had been so long. Anyways I emailed them and let them know that it was completely a misunderstanding but they straight up didn’t care. I never even made one delivery on either account. Users beware. I feel like flex does not care or listen to their employees or contractors. Zero understanding and they do not listen to us at all!!

I bought collapsible bins from Walmart and it is used primary for grocery. I would invest in that or get some cheap laundry baskets. I have 3 questions: 1. Do you scan the package before before you approach the house or is that taking pictures twice? I notice you are scanning as you approach their door. 2nd, will you get a ding for unable to deliver because of no entry. 3. What if you go pass the three and a half hours because of the route they gave you has a lot of detour. I live just a city below you and you know how we have all these constructions in Florida.

I recently got approved with everything for flex. Being just a DD driver I wanted something to offset with days I know are slow on my area. I was curious as to how it will have a 4-5 hour block and if it actually takes 4-5 hours or is it depending how fast you actually deliver. Allso with the 8 hour maximum a day is that based on the block or based on the actual time you take to deliver the packages. I appreciate people like you who put there experiences especially there first experience with new delivery app platforms. The closest hub is far away from me so I wanted to see how worth it is it. Because of heavy traffic I'm looking to grab the really early 315-415am start blocks.
