Give me a break.. Lebanese cuisine is based on garlic, onions, lemon juice and olive oil. I respect that Anthony doesn’t eat garlic and onions but let’s not make that the rule for lebanese dishes.

From what I saw in this video, is that he wasn’t using real lemon juice. The bottles behind Anthony when he was tasting the hummus straight out of the blender were bottles of fake lemons juice that restaurants use nowadays. Not sure whether he used real lemon juice or not 🤷🏻‍♀️

@@ngno a fact not an opinion :) otherwise they wouldn’t make those dishes with ngno especially for you when you visit. It is the exception not the norm. But I do enjoy your videos so don’t get offended lol

Fascinating video about an authentic Lebanese Restaurant in LA!
It's great to have English subtitles, but they need serious work : Andrea Bocelli was translated as "Andrea Abou Chelly" 😄😄. That is among other countless mistranslations.

Carnival is my go to place for Lebanese food, Wahid and the co owners are very friendly and generous in their portions. They are also very known among Americans, every time Lebanese food is mentioned Carnival is the first name that comes up

The restaurant owner states that he does not use garlic because it leaves a strong taste in the food. As a former chef, I agree with him if he uses garlic grown and harvested in China. Where I worked, we never used Chinese garlic, our garlic was grown and harvested in the United States. It is a little more expense but the flavor is very mellow and does not leave an after taste. Quality fresh garlic applied in moderation makes a big difference in food. Today I buy this garlic for our personal consumption. I make Toum dip/sauce and it is really very good. Afterall, how could you not have Toum with BBQ chicken? Obviously the Carnival Chef is not familiar with fresh American garlic grown and harvested in US.

Garlic is part of the Lebanese cuisine and the Mediterranean coast. The key is balance, too much of it and it overtakes the dish.
