    Those Anglican Bishops in Ontario were way ahead of their time. We can thank the Scots for that. Bishop Strachan in Toronto comes to mind. I believe Vancouver and Victoria have the same sort of colleges. Sad that Alma College had to go this way.

      The city of St. Thomas has had nearly 14 years to heal since the buildings loss. Unfortunately, the building laid as a pile of bricks and rubble for several years after its demolition in 2008, following the fire.

    • @JoyTree3
      @JoyTree3 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@chris101ward Yes, I get that. However, sometimes, even after a long time something "comes up" that triggers (a)wakening (versus Snow White :)). This is what Luke´s video is doing. It effects beyond the physical, so the healing goes deep into the spirit of the land.

    Tragic that such beautiful historical architecture was taken from us by the folly of youth. I hope those kids learned their lesson.

      They did it so the owner would get insurance. Last time I went into Alma College, it was sad. All floorboards and everything was gutted. There were hardly any inside walls and it would've cost far more to fix it unfortunately

    Quite informative. Be cool if the building was still operational.

    • @chris101ward
      @chris101ward 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It sat abandoned for a long time. The historical society was petitioning to save the building, the owner wanted to develop the land. Shortly after the city deemed it a historic site, the building burnt down, causing a lot of suspicion in town. I actually went to highschool with one of the arsonists

    • @lifeofluke
      @lifeofluke  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Oh shit, you're from St. Thomas!?What highschool did you go to? I already loved your videos, but I had no idea we shared the same hometown! It was a sad day to see this incredibly beautiful and eerie building burn. My class was on its way back from a class trip in London when someone texted a classmate saying the building was on fire, noone wanted to believe it. Sure enough, we could see the smoke from the 401.

    I'd rather have buildings built like this today, instead of the depressing square buildings of today.
    Do you know if the amphitheatre is still there, or did they demolish that as well?

    • @lifeofluke
      @lifeofluke  7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I agree, they don't build like they used to anymore, and I used to like modern architecture, now I see it as soulless. I believe the amphitheatre was cleaned up and still exists, don't take my word for it though.

    It's a shame the 'minors' who burned this place down only got a slap on the wrist. (A non-association, community service and curfew + parole). There are only a handful of people that know the story that didn't make the news.
