@@cawewe The point wasn’t entirely the leveling system but the fact they’re the only way now to level up cookies but are primarily found as materials in the lab or gaining light spheres and spending them in the shop. @Carys I agree. I maxed out so many cookies since this updated, when before this, I had like 5 cookies that were 15 level. And I finished a lot of cookie trials too This update is just perfect :)

Yeah, but now you'll be using more crystals than before depending on how much you need to level up a cookie/pet, which is rough on players who are F2P only. I had over 17k crystals, but now with this new system, that number has been going down faster than usual. It's a double-edged sword. It's easier to level up, but also a bit more expensive

I like this update a bit because there is another way to get dragon cookies like pitaya, longon etc. guild coins are hard to get so it’s sort of good. But I really want the gacha back! It’s been a big part of the cookie run games so it needs to come back. The new leveling system with the cookie potions is very good so you don’t have to have like 1billion copies of habanero to max them out. But I think they should add the gacha back and also keep the star trial candies so players can get cookies along the way as well being able to gacha the cookies they got from the trial star candies. But also they removed cookie and pet mileage so I can’t get legendaries and epics after getting 5k anymore :c plus, they still kept the treasure mileage so why not re-add the ones for cookies and pets? I was thinking about it for a while and i do think that the change is good. All though leveling up cookies will become a issue, for me it already happened since i have no potions at all but i have plenty of gold that i can use for upgrades so i just have to resort to using crystals to upgrade BUUUT you need crystals if you want to unlock new cookies strait away. When devsisters improves the cookie/pet potions or at least increase the amount we are getting right now this new system will be a very good replacement.
I think it's bad. Personally, I recently just got back Into ovenbreak(for lychee and snake fruit cookie) and I was really disappointed about not having to be able to do the gacha. The gacha was my favorite part of the game.
im personally a fan of this feature mostly because back in the day i hated having to rely on the gacha to upgrade my cookies, whereas now i can just do so with crystals more consistently. as for getting legendaries, i consistently get high ranks in ovenbreak and guild runs, so i dont feel too stressed about not having the random chance to get them since i can slowly upgrade them with the rewards from those modes too (plus i prefer most of my epics to the legendaries in trophy race anyway)
Tbh, it's a mistake. I don't who says that the gacha is not good, but for me it's awesome, the gacha system is perfect, the fact that only for 2,900 or 1,900 diamonds, you can get not just your cookie/pet that you want, but also other cookies/pets that you might don't have or need to level up is the best thing ever. Without that gacha system you might not been able to get cookies/pets easily, and the new one seems weird, why would you spend your diamonds especially 2,900 or 1,900 diamonds just for the cookie/pet that you want, just 1 cookie/pet that you want and no other cookies, and if you don't want to use your precious diamonds, you have to grind to get those points and get your desire cookie/pet and it takes long time, and simply i hate it, CROB is a good game, i recommend it, but I think it's having a hard time getting the bridge up than down
I think it's a pretty bad system. It's pretty hard because I don't want to be forced to do the trial to even just level up the cookie, and even then, it's not even enough to get both cookie and pet to level 15. If you want to level up a cookie after getting diamond (assuming the cookie doesn't have hard mode) you would have to rely on diamonds to level them up, or you would have to rely on trophy race chests, which have only a few cookies/pets you could get. And if you're a newer player it's super hard grinding for the trial star jellies. (I'm newer, because I'm about level 50, it's so frustrating. )
I think it wasn't. Getting cookies is actually cheaper than with the Gacha and with the Gem Exchange you can practically max a non-Legendary in one day.
The gacha system was the only thing making me play the game when arena changed so that means I have a gambling addiction and now I’m not playing the game anymore😀
I’ve been playing crk for the longest time and I decided to play ovenbreak for the first time literally today and I found it very confusing that I pretty much got a guaranteed legendary after like 10 mins. They better not change the gacha in crk to be like this. I like the old way a lot better.
I kind of hate it, I don't really am active, but I play once a month. Everything a new update drops, I'll just save some crystals and get the cookie (and pet if I have spare..) guaranteed. But now, because no one likes me, I hate cookie trials. I mostly like Trophy race and Breakout. It would be more convenient if they made it that you could have soulstones just like in CRK.(Cookie run Kingdom.) Remember, this is my opinion. And I'm not changing it.
Yes, i came back so excited to pull some gacha, to find it gone. Replaced with the buy cookie/pet crap. If you don't have the crystals it's literally just "Oh time to grind!" But like, i don't have the damn time or patience for that it was so much easier to get cookies via the gacha chests..
I quit brawl stars because they removed boxes..wtf ovenbreak why 🙂 Edit (on 8 March, 2024): I actually like this, I've changed my mind (on ovenbreak only) I still play BS, a little bit, only. As for OvenBreak.. Opposite. I started playing it on a daily basis, since I think it's better than Kingdom. Never thought I'd switch from Kingdom-only to almost OB-only. I'll only play CRK in the important updates with dragons/legendaries/ancients (beasts now, since all five are released)/etc.
I in my opinion grinding trials my actually take a long time and if it takes a long time you cookies get released and it make its harder to get cookies if you dont have the treasures
I wish I got to experience the gacha, I got overbreak after then gacha change. Unlocking cookies was a bit of a struggle for me, so I just use points to get the latest cookie at my time, which was some eel guy
I honestly dont know how it is for newer players, but ive been playing for a few years and have all the cookies, finished almost all trials, tons of mileage saved up, and earn crystals relatively fast, and its been way easier to level up everything now. Though I don’t know if that’s just from the new events this month giving us more stuff or my saved up mileage now converted. I do like being able to choose directly which cookie/pet each potion/crystal goes to as opposed to not knowing how much of them you’ll get from a chest.
as a person who started when overbreak still had gachas then deleted the game for storage reasons, I rather get the gacha back because its still ez getting Cookies in gacha
To be honest, I like the new update, mostly because after I wouldn't be able to upgrade my cookies and pets to level 15 even if I tried a lot, because my gacha luck was ugly and all I received was 20 or 15 cookie fragments per chest, doing the level up of that cookie too slow. While right now I only need 17k to level up the cookie that I want, before I need almost 40k to do it. So yeah, for me, it's totally worth it the change
So glad I already had most of my legendaries leveled before this update. Would've been stupid expensive after this update without mileage being a thing anymore
I think with the old system all the cookies could be upgraded gradually with a slight main, but the new system allows you to main one cookie faster and then move on to the next one changes are convenient for old players, but for new ones.. building a breakout team would be quite painful
My opinion on the new gacha system: For one thing, it made it actually possible to upgrade my legendaries and get new ones which was pretty much impossible before. (I didn’t get champion league or a guild until after the update) On the other hand, it made pretty much every other cookie and pet that much more annoying unlock to level up.
i hate it, when I finally came back from cookie run oven break, I was surprised about there being no gacha system anymore, and I didn’t really like the game. I still like playing it though, but now there are no more normal levels in ovenbreak either, like there used to be too.
I love new system more, cuz now i can rush cookie i need with crystals, about 900-1100 when in special gacha i spens 2000+ for half of the level on level 10-15 (yes with another rare/epic stuff (likely coins for duplicates))
I do not like the new system. At least with the old system you could just blow some diamonds and level up a cookie, with the new system you have to get potions and then crafting them have a cool down n it sucks. It's worse cause I just picked the game back up too :(
I really hate this new system since before we can gacha for epic cookies and use mileage to buy legendary cookies. Now we need to use diamonds to buy them separately making it way more expensive to level up all cookies
Well, a different game that I play added in gacha elements to replace a faulty system that they had for obtaining characters. Many characters used to be locked behind steep paywalls to where you couldn't obtain them unless you paid for their character package. The character package was about $40 US and only had the one character plus some mediocre additional stuff ( xp bottles). A lot of those 'paywall' exclusive characters were either overpowered or so pathetic that their package wasn't worth it. Since the swap, it's been a lot different and more beneficial for the game overall. So maybe it's bad or maybe it isn't? I'd say probably bad.
i like this update because now i can focus on leveling up the cookies i want instead of overpaying for chests that include a bunch of other epics and rares that i don't even care about
I left cookie run and came back it's now Astronaut update and I love Pizza but I Can't level her up cause I can't find her in the Gacha Please someone give tips on how to get her I don't wanna spend my Crystals
Honestly, I think it’s bad because you need so much crystals to even buy one pet or cookie. It was hard for someone that doesn’t usually play cookie trials keep in mind you only get one and not 15 Edit:who is nobody responding
Honestly I have mixed feelings about it, yeah for me leveling cookies up easier…EXCEPT FOR THE LEGENDARIES. One thing about the gacha is that if you spend enough gems you can pick a cookie you want. It honestly made getting legendaries so much easier but now with the update it’s literal hell to get my lotus dragon cookie to level 10.
Ik its easier to level up and a cheaper now, but i prefer old one because i also got other cookie because i aint just gonna buy all of the cookies ofc i also maxed some rares because of it there are rare cookies alternative that is good for breakout so it is worth it
Honestly, it's a big upgrade for me. Originally, I took like 3 months to level up a single cookie and pet to max, but now it's reduced to only one month or a week.
Honestly i don't think its bad (especially for the fact that i played this game after the update) it's just that they need to upgrade it So my idea is that you can now still buy a cookie just 75% cheaper and each time you buy it it adds 10+ of the cookie (what i mean is that you get 10 leveling up points) so its easier to level up your cookie. This also applies to the pet Also the old gacha system is still here its just in the golden crystal place also if you hate the new gacha a lot you are probably blinded by nostalgia
Am i the only one that noticed that this update was kinda like the brawl stars update when they removed the brawl boxes, but even that is better then this
I quit ovenbreak a while ago but when I played it again I was so confused with the chest being gone. The leveling up thing is good but the chest is way better, plus I love gambling my gems away... I have 16000 gems sitting in my invo and idk what to do with them anymore :(
Honestly, while I don't completely hate the new system, I don't like it as much as the chests and eggs. For one, it takes away the early game variety that players who pick the game up for the first time in the modern day as opposed to those who first picked it up when it came out. Not to mention that, although Gems are easy to get without whaling, it'd take a lot more time and gems to max out even just ONE Cookie or Pet. Yes you could just buy whatever Cookies you want that appeals to you, but that can get super pricey. I wish they had kept chests in the game as solely Event Rewards or still obtainable in some way. Trial Candies require reaching specific ranks, and some people just wouldn't be able to reach those specific ranks without spending money. I still enjoy the game, but it really is a case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
Absolutely not because even though I’m regularly playing the game, I’m still about 1-2 hundred trial candies from even getting the new cookies because I had a break from the game during the eggnog and tiramisu update
I would be more on the fence about this if everything else surrounding the main "no gacha" change weren't unfairly balanced too. For example: every chest and pet egg reward has been changed from 40 epics to 20 corresponding spirit potions. But, this includes the Escape Level chests too, which gave us 100 epics for our troubles! Now, say maybe 100 spirit potions is too much; after all, they balanced those chests by allowing fully maxed epics could appear too, something no other chest did. But then they could have changed it to be 50 potions than, aligning with how other chests giving 40 epics converted to 20 potions. Except because they didn't give repeats, that compensation should be much higher than 20, like 30 or 35. Then there's the escape level system in general. We get points for leveling up and upgrading our cookies and pets(and treasures), but now that the leveling system is being streamlined to not have "unwanted" copies, that means we won't be able to upgrade our other cookies on the side to help us build up those points. We have to unlock them first to even think about upgrading them and, especially if you're a new player, that involves completing trials. But the trial star candies are not a currency like I assumed, but a point system. Meaning we can't just buy a cookie outright with them, there's an order to unlocking them. And from the looks of it, the newest cookies, a.k.a. the most urgent one to get so you can get the extra cookie cup rewards, are the actual last ones you'll unlock. You'll have to speedrun almost every other trial in the game (upgrade most of them too) just to get to the new one, let alone upgrade _them_ enough to finish their trial. In conclusion, I'm not entirely upset at any single one of these arguments I'm making. But the fact that all of these factors were not accounted for and simultaneously feed into each other is really confusing me, since a big change like this requires a lot of forethought to ensure the state of the game remains the same or changes for the better, but these problems are evident only a week in.
My take on this change is that it's more advantageous to the older players rather than any new upcoming players. The reason why I think this way is because with the new system, it's actually MUCH cheaper to max out the Cookie that you want (in terms of crystals you need to spend.) For a point of comparison: With the old system, it only guaranteed approximately 15-25 shards of the Cookie you wanted while you got shards of other perfectly random Cookies. So you paid 2,900 Crystals for 15-25 Cookie Shards and paid 1,900 Crystals for 15-25 Pet Shards. So you need to pay 2,900/1,900 for the equivalent of ONE level-up for the Cookie/Pet. With the new system, it takes you approximately 15,000-20,000 Crystals to max out the Cookie and about 10,000-15,000 Crystals to max out the Pet. However, I do agree that while the new system lowers the cost for maxing out a Cookie, it also makes it harder to build multiple cookies at once. So if you're a new player that wants to participate in multiple game modes, you'd need to put up with being able to reliably max out one Cookie at a time. Fortunately, this is balanced out by the fact that newbies can max out certain Cookies by playing through Story Mode, so it's not so bad. Overall, I still think that it's a net positive change, but one that could prove unfriendly to newcomers. Only time will tell if I'm wrong or not.
I prefer the gacha because it made leveling up the cookies and pets faster, now its just expensive and takes much longer to get the ones you want and to level them up
The legendary pets cost 6600 crsytals now ITS INSANE??? Definetpy harder since you also need the gems to level up both cookies and pets if you don't have enough coins + making the poti9ns in the laboratory since you can only make them once and wait for days until you can make more-
Overall. I think fine. The thing I miss mainly is how you can't get millage anymore. If they were to change that then I would be perfectly okay with it.
I don’t mind the new system for the most part but I don’t like that new cookie are locked now. In the new events for example to build a centipede cookie that can help me pass the event will take a lot more diamonds then before.
I think it's really about getting around laws that classify loot box mechanics in games gambling
If this is true then why the heck they didn't do the same thing with for costume and treasure gacha

When devsisters improves the cookie/pet potions or at least increase the amount we are getting right now this new system will be a very good replacement.
Yeah me too
I think it's bad.
Im from the future and i loved this change for real uts so much easier to level the cookies you actually want to
Tbh, it's a mistake. Without that gacha system you might not been able to get cookies/pets easily, and the new one seems weird, why would you spend your diamonds especially 2,900 or 1,900 diamonds just for the cookie/pet that you want, just 1 cookie/pet that you want and no other cookies, and if you don't want to use your precious diamonds, you have to grind to get those points and get your desire cookie/pet and it takes long time, and simply i hate it, CROB is a good game, i recommend it, but I think it's having a hard time getting the bridge up than down
Its horrifying my gambling addiction shall nver be quelled😭
It's the most biggest mistake that they make I'm very disappointed😞
I joined recently, thinking it would have a gacha similar to cookie run kingdom and got confused at why it was so different. This explains a lot.
They also removed the coloured crystals in a previous update i think, which was very upsetting as i needed those for fricking friendship with cookies.
BIGGEST MISTAKE It's so bad since we'd not get only one cookie
I'm pretty sure there were new Korean laws about gambling that applied to gacha. I really hope this isn't brought to crk though.
I quit brawl stars because they removed boxes..wtf ovenbreak why 🙂
Edit (on 8 March, 2024): I actually like this, I've changed my mind (on ovenbreak only) I still play BS, a little bit, only.
Personally I'm just waiting for what they might bring in the next update since my screen just says "please wait for the next update!" 😅
I miss the excitement of a gacha system…
I in my opinion grinding trials my actually take a long time and if it takes a long time you cookies get released and it make its harder to get cookies if you dont have the treasures
I'd be gambling A LOT if this was still in the game (Yes I have a lot of crystals as a free to play)
I wish I got to experience the gacha, I got overbreak after then gacha change.
Unlocking cookies was a bit of a struggle for me, so I just use points to get the latest cookie at my time, which was some eel guy
I’m used to the old and I kinda wish it was set back to normal
I honestly dont know how it is for newer players, but ive been playing for a few years and have all the cookies, finished almost all trials, tons of mileage saved up, and earn crystals relatively fast, and its been way easier to level up everything now.
Though I don’t know if that’s just from the new events this month giving us more stuff or my saved up mileage now converted.
I do like being able to choose directly which cookie/pet each potion/crystal goes to as opposed to not knowing how much of them you’ll get from a chest.
I don't play this game, but sureness for a little extra work is FAR better than a Gacha system any day in my opinion.
They didn’t even remove all of it.. there’s still treasure gacha.
as a person who started when overbreak still had gachas then deleted the game for storage reasons, I rather get the gacha back because its still ez getting Cookies in gacha
I remember when you can you one legendary cookie in common chest 😢 I miss those days
I think with the old system all the cookies could be upgraded gradually with a slight main, but the new system allows you to main one cookie faster and then move on to the next one
changes are convenient for old players, but for new ones.. building a breakout team would be quite painful
Also I'm just glad that i maxed Timekeeper cookie before changes
I honestly thinks is better this way, techincally there is a worst effience on the way u spend crystals but now you more ways to get them
My opinion on the new gacha system:
For one thing, it made it actually possible to upgrade my legendaries and get new ones which was pretty much impossible before. (I didn’t get champion league or a guild until after the update)
On the other hand, it made pretty much every other cookie and pet that much more annoying unlock to level up.
i hate it, when I finally came back from cookie run oven break, I was surprised about there being no gacha system anymore, and I didn’t really like the game. I still like playing it though, but now there are no more normal levels in ovenbreak either, like there used to be too.
I love it, I've never been able to max out new cookies at this rate before
I really hope it was an early April fools joke.. because i ended up quitting right after.
It kind of removes the whole point of rarity in the game so I don’t really know..
"Enjoyable experience"
100 star jellies to get banana cookie's pet speaks to themselves
i was about to play the game, but then this showed up, i was kinda upset.
i like this update because now i can focus on leveling up the cookies i want instead of overpaying for chests that include a bunch of other epics and rares that i don't even care about
I HATE THIS…BRING.BACK.THE.GACHA.
Edit:seriously,i actually quit crob because of this
Really good update only thing i miss js the mileage for the legendarys
I really miss the old one
I miss this 😭😭😭
I left cookie run and came back it's now Astronaut update and I love Pizza but I Can't level her up cause I can't find her in the Gacha Please someone give tips on how to get her I don't wanna spend my Crystals
Honestly, I think it’s bad because you need so much crystals to even buy one pet or cookie. It was hard for someone that doesn’t usually play cookie trials keep in mind you only get one and not 15
Edit:who is nobody responding
I cried a lot when i saw this😢
I think it’s the fact that now I only get one cookie and not others-
Honestly I have mixed feelings about it, yeah for me leveling cookies up easier…EXCEPT FOR THE LEGENDARIES. One thing about the gacha is that if you spend enough gems you can pick a cookie you want. It honestly made getting legendaries so much easier but now with the update it’s literal hell to get my lotus dragon cookie to level 10.
bad for me bc it harder to get legendary but good for new player
It is worst but the mechanic they added of leveling up cookies/pets with gems is spectacular, now i have all my favorites cookies and pets maxed 🐖🐖🐖
Ik its easier to level up and a cheaper now, but i prefer old one because i also got other cookie because i aint just gonna buy all of the cookies ofc i also maxed some rares because of it there are rare cookies alternative that is good for breakout so it is worth it
The change is bad, the icons looks so small, I can barely press it, the gacha system made it easy so I don't have to worry about the costs.
I think it's GREAT! ❤🎉
Honestly, it's a big upgrade for me. Originally, I took like 3 months to level up a single cookie and pet to max, but now it's reduced to only one month or a week.
Honestly i don't think its bad (especially for the fact that i played this game after the update) it's just that they need to upgrade it
So my idea is that you can now still buy a
cookie just 75% cheaper and each time you buy it it adds 10+ of the cookie (what i mean is that you get 10 leveling up points) so its easier to level up your cookie. This also applies to the pet
Also the old gacha system is still here its just in the golden crystal place also if you hate the new gacha a lot you are probably blinded by nostalgia
I have 16000 gems sitting in my invo and idk what to do with them anymore :(
Bad. What was the reason? You can get cookies and pets by just using the gacha
I still enjoy the game, but it really is a case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
it removed the tedious system of unlocking the cookies from trophy race so im happy
Absolutely not because even though I’m regularly playing the game, I’m still about 1-2 hundred trial candies from even getting the new cookies because I had a break from the game during the eggnog and tiramisu update
Welp never gonna try Oven Break
Tbh,the new update feels exactly like brawl stars
The trophy road
The chest removal
The reason why I think this way is because with the new system, it's actually MUCH cheaper to max out the Cookie that you want (in terms of crystals you need to spend.) For a point of comparison:
With the old system, it only guaranteed approximately 15-25 shards of the Cookie you wanted while you got shards of other perfectly random Cookies.
It's hard to level up now if the cookie doesn't have an event😢
Someone has got to make a video about this mix bag if an update
I prefer the gacha because it made leveling up the cookies and pets faster, now its just expensive and takes much longer to get the ones you want and to level them up
Without gacha is lot harder
The legendary pets cost 6600 crsytals now ITS INSANE??? Definetpy harder since you also need the gems to level up both cookies and pets if you don't have enough coins + making the poti9ns in the laboratory since you can only make them once and wait for days until you can make more-
Overall. I think fine. The thing I miss mainly is how you can't get millage anymore. If they were to change that then I would be perfectly okay with it.
why do i hear lotus dragon cookie story theme??
(my thoughts in this new update:WHY JUST WHY??!!)
I just hope this doesn't appear in CRK
I don’t mind the new system for the most part but I don’t like that new cookie are locked now. In the new events for example to build a centipede cookie that can help me pass the event will take a lot more diamonds then before.
I liked the old gacha system because i you didnt know who'd you get but the guarantee cookie you pick. It was fun but its no longer fun for me...
