I love the camera positioning when you present the front interior of the car. I wish all presenters would do the same, instead of focusing only on themselves.
You're the best, first video ever watched. Your wit and dry humor with little ego is engaging. Thank you and thank you for the Taycan Cross Turismo. Trying to get one here in the States is challenging. Cross your fingers
Happy Birthday Bryan. I enjoy your review. You’re also wonderful. Could listen to you all day. Porsche is nice too, so much so, I bought my first Taycan. Looking forward to MORE of your Porsche reviews.
Happy belated birthday. I’ve got essentially the same car without the passenger screen, with 20” wheels and in Cherry Metallic. It is bar none, the best car I’ve every driven, let alone owned. This is after three decades as a BMW owner, two Jaguars, an Audi, several Mercedes and an assortment of lesser, but decent cars. Your criticism of the HVAC controls is well taken. However, with the push of a button (or a cheery “Hey Porsche” if you leave that enabled) you can control all of those functions and many, many more with a voice command - in common language, not scripted commands. Too warm, say “I’m hot” and the car will lower the heat setting. Want to listen to your favorite tune on Spotify? Just ask the car to play it. Navigation, seat heat, ambient lighting, making a phone call, reading or sending texts and emails - all this and much more can be done with a few words while your hands stay safely on the steering wheel. It is indeed the ultimate, do everything EV.
As a long time driver of Land Rover’s vehicles, I’d call the Cross Turismo more ‘bad road’ than ‘off road’ capable. But the better ground clearance makes it far more practical; there are driveways around where I live that the Taycan sedan couldn’t get into, not to mention kerbs that would stop the sedan’s passenger opening their door. Then there is the basic characteristic of a Porsche; the drive gets your heart pumping, the price is heart stopping….
Yep. Good decision i made at the dealer last month. Made the right decision on the Cross Turismo. Was swinging between sedan and the cross even right in front of the sales.
I have this car in acid green. I had no idea just how much it attention it would draw!…EVERYWHERE I go people are filming me and asking me questions about it. It’s really taking some time getting used to.
I love how this car is designed for driving. Why is the console lid in the middle awkward? Same reason the wireless chargers tucked away: it discourages you to interact with it while driving. About the UK law banning the usage of mobile phones and not usage of the car’s UI: they got to draw a line somewhere. It’s easy to go on your phone from Spotify to your messaging app or to your social media apps. You can’t do that with the car’s infotainment.
Another great video. The Taycan Cross Turismo is quite a compelling package (have always previously been leaning towards the etron GT but haven’t heard any rumours yet regarding an Avant). Lease pricing looks pretty competitive on the 4 and 4S Cross Turismo when pitched against a GT (and indeed etron S). Other than the pricing of the car, I too wish that Porsche had physical HVAC controls like the Audi have done with the GT, but also I wish Audi kept the rotary dial MMI such as on my pre-facelifted B9 S4. The i4 M50 looks interesting in that respect in terms of user interface (although I think still uses the touchscreen for HVAC?). Looks like you had a great birthday to have chance to drive such a fantastic car. Hope you had a good one and keep up the great work.
Great video! I purchased my Taycan 4 CT today. I’ve had Tesla X Ludicrous with all max specs for 2 years. But I came to conclusion that I want to try something else too. Tesla’s interior design is just so dull. Porsche knows how to make a nice interior.
Great vehicle, but instead of a well specced one of these for £140k I’d be tempted for a fully specced 2022 Jaguars I-Pace for half the money , could do a lot with that other £75k 🚙🧐 The increase in rear head height is approximately three and a half inches, due to the raised roofline over a saloon Taycan, the 30mm refers to the outside and raised height above the ground, nothing to do with the interior The 4+1 seating option is worth doing as you can have someone sit there for a short journey or a child etc, but mostly it then gives you 40:20:40 folding instead of the standard seatings 60:40 split 🚙👍🏻
We sure are. We go to drive it in a couple of weeks, although it is just a brief drive, so we may not get the opportunity to do a full road test. Rest assured, however, as soon a we can, we will.
Another great video and I quite agree with you about having to look down on these screens, they are not very safe. Just not picking but I don’t like the colour of that car, I’m sure car makers could come up with some really great colours but they make lots of cars with really dowdy colours. By the way I wouldn’t swop my I-pace for the Tacan..
Jolly good, tally-ho and such. Yet one begs to wonder: in what alternate reality do the notions "off-roader" and "21 inches" coexist the same universe?
I do admire this car..but an ipace woukd guve me about 90% of what I like about the Cross turismo at about 60% of the cost. Better in some ways even in terms of practicality while being about a foot shorter. Physical climate knobs too! Of course the taycan will handle better and charge faster but in typical daily use I’d never notice. Looks wise they both have angles they look great and others where they look kinda awkward. Maybe I need to wait to see how the macan EV turns out
Love my iPace but moving to the CT in April, why? 1) Just don’t want an identical car and its a shame JLR are a few years off more EVs or an iPace 2. 2) I do a lot of long journeys, the only thing I’d change about my HSE is the charge curve. I’ll be stopping for 25 mins not 50 per stop in the CT and will also get full 120 or 150 on those Instavolt/Gridserve chargers that are 800V (opposed to 60 or 75 in the iPace). Again though, love the iPace, been amazing and would 100% be interested in an iPace 2 in 4 years time. If you don’t do 400 mile journeys (or wish to drive to the Alps) regularly then I’d still recommend iPace for sure.
I did think that would be the case but perhaps does the brand a disservice. We need to get more people into EVs and base models are where it begins. I also like where Brands blur, example how good is a base ipace compared to anything else. Tesla only give a few options so costs are lower if everyone followed suit theoretically we'd get cheaper cars. It's almost like they want to keep the price high..
That is interesting Alan. I have just spent the morning with a new EV that focusses very heavily on screen technology, although I will say that it isn't as blinding as it first appears when you get used to it. And it has decent voice commands, so maybe that can counter it. I have to say, the Audi e-tron GT has physical buttons and it still manages to look as good as the Porsche.
Firstly - Happy Belated Birthday! 🎂🥂🍾 Secondly - during your introductory musings, you pretty much described the I-Pace. Thirdly - nice to see you dressed appropriately; I could easily see you on a hunt... well, Guardian of The Single Malts anyway. You certainly look the part. Personally I'd rather see a more Macan-like headlight treatment, the one on the Taycan looks too contrived front-on and makes the side-view of the front look discordant compared to the rest if the vehicle, which is smooth, flowing. Lovely colour though. I agree with your love of estate cars / wagons - all the practicality of an SUV with vastly improved handling and aerodynamic efficiency. I'd happily buy an MG5 as a daily, but MG won't bring them to Oz. Another great video; no pandering to the manufacturer and a well thought-out and comprehensive review. The grin on your face at 20:30 says it all...
When you get to the age where you can afford this type of car you also will have more toys. Like a motorbike, boat or glider. Unfortunately this car does not allow you to pull a trailer. Toys for the boys maybe, but the boys are not allowed to grow up.
I'm sure it's a fine car but the cockpit looks old fashioned compared with some other EVs. And I'll never understand the need for cup holders for the driver. Do people drive while slurping coffee? Eating and drinking is strictly forbidden in my car, except for boiled sweets.
I love the camera positioning when you present the front interior of the car. I wish all presenters would do the same, instead of focusing only on themselves.

Great review, I love the Neptune Blue. I have had a Taycan 4S for just over a year and over 19k miles. It always puts a smile on my face as well.
Thanks for sharing!
My fave Porsche design for sure

My EV of choice. Displaced the Jaguar I-Pace as my ultimate EV "want" car! Glad you enjoyed the review.
Love the review, great work. The 4S CT is now sitting nicely next to me E-class All terrain.
Great choice! Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.

Yeah. But to me. If i went the iPace route. There will always be a what if regret. Getting the cross turismo will result in no envy or regret.
Are you going to do a review on the BMW ix?
We sure are. We go to drive it in a couple of weeks, although it is just a brief drive, so we may not get the opportunity to do a full road test. Rest assured, however, as soon a we can, we will.
@@AutoEV what did you think of it?

What would be more interesting is to test drive the cheapest version rather than anything with options..
I agree, but we can only test what Porsche GB run on their press fleet, which are both highly optioned 4S models.
I did think that would be the case but perhaps does the brand a disservice. We need to get more people into EVs and base models are where it begins.

You and me both!
The dog has given this a thumb’s down!
Utterly gorgeous…. But to get a 4 WD one (compared to a MY ) it’s over £100K…. Difficult to afford.
You said it. It’s gorgeous. I am glad that i am single.
There is new legislation pending that will quite possibly outlaw touchscreen and Audi are already looking to introduce buttons

Thank you; you almost had me sold on one of these until I saw that awful dashboard - and being about £50,000 above my budget.
