Except at the end of the game, where you need to get the shield bc the last boss is impervious to all other weapons. I can see why that rule wasn't included though. No one ever makes it that far.

It only took me 33 years, but I finally beat both loops of the original NES Ghosts 'N Goblins! And tonight I beat both in one sitting. What a great feeling of accomplishment.

This was one of the first games I remember being properly addicted to when it came out but having to go all the way back to the start of levels was truly painful but save points weren't a thing back then. A bit later Rygar came out which was perhaps even more addictive again.
It's kind of annoying that they brought back the whole "little armor guys are actually just points" thing from the original game. They replaced it with money bags for the entire rest of the series and that made way more sense, and you would confuse them for armor upgrades.

Fun fact: This was the very first videogame I've ever played in my life and single handedly postponed my gaming life by 2 years. Not because it took me 2 years to finish the game but because it took me 2 god damn years to heal the emotional scars before I dared to play another video game.
If you want your kid to be a gamer, have them play some fun shit like worms or something. If you want them to be someone who actually matters by keeping them away from video game addiction, have them play this garbage as their beginning point. Then also maybe bully them on how they keep dying to make sure they hate video games for good.
What the fuck are you on about? This game hasn't even been out for 2 years yet. It came out for the very first time in February 2021, and currently as I write this comment it's February 2022, and yet your post was made 11 months before my one. How on earth can a game postpone your gaming life by 2 years, when as you made this comment, it had only been out for 1 month? This is a brand new game. It's no a remake or a remaster. This game was NEVER in the arcades. It was a Nintendo switch game first, releasing for the first time in February 2021, and then was later ported to the other consoles, and to PC. At no point was it ever an arcade game. It was only ever a home game.
Did you think this was a remake of the old ghosts and goblins games, or something? Lmao it's not that at all, it's a brand new game in the series. It's never existed as an arcade machine. It only came out last year anyway (i.e. it came out for the first time in February 2021, mid-pandemic, so of COURSE it wasn't in the arcades, because who would make a game for arcades when most of the world is quarantining at home and so they can't go to arcades to play new games?)

It only took me 33 years, but I finally beat both loops of the original NES Ghosts 'N Goblins! And tonight I beat both in one sitting. What a great feeling of accomplishment.
It's crazy that they intentionally programmed literally every function in this game to work against you.

This was one of the first games I remember being properly addicted to when it came out but having to go all the way back to the start of levels was truly painful but save points weren't a thing back then. A bit later Rygar came out which was perhaps even more addictive again.

It's kind of annoying that they brought back the whole "little armor guys are actually just points" thing from the original game. They replaced it with money bags for the entire rest of the series and that made way more sense, and you would confuse them for armor upgrades.

Those little armour point things were in Super Ghouls n’ Ghosts too, they never got rid of them. Not that I disagree with your point though.
