dear daggerwin, if you get a regular logging trailer, attach it to the tractor, position it in reach of the tree feller, you can line the log with the trailer, then when you cut them to the desired length, they will fall into the log trailer, making loading logs much easier, it may take a bit to get use to alligning it correctly with the trailer. hope it can help you a bit. p.s. keep up the amazing work.
He demonstrated that in FS19 and decided since it's super dangerous in real life, he wasn't going to do it. I don't know if that's his reasoning here but it's definitely how I get my logs moving lol
A couple tips: 1. To winch logs attach the cable right on the cut end of the tree. This way you can easily tow them to your staging area to cut and load them. 2. Use that deluxe tree harvester to cut and load the hauling trailer in one go. (Don't muck about with the loading crane when you can cut them to length and drop them in the basket with the harvester.) Yeah I can recommend Daggerwin or everyone using that side panel for this game, it will be so much easy but more fun experience when doing from logging to pallets lifting and you get extra buttons.
Daggerwin, you don’t need to open the production menu to see how much is in the production building. When you are outside looking at it, it shows in the info graphic that pops up in the bottom right hand corner. Loving the first two episodes. Looking forward to more!
A note about the Winch.. Connect the cable to the very end of the Log. That way it will pull straight and not get hung up . And you can pull the Logs right upto the Back of the Tractor and drag them out. That is Why it is called a "Skidding Winch" Mike M.
You think that someone who cuts 8m lengths of wood to fit on his forwarder will actually use a winch properly rather than go "Duh! I am gunna do it in the middle, it works best!". I don't do actual forestry, but I do know how winches work, and how mass works, unlike dags here, so I was thinking "put it on the END of a log to winch", but KNEW that dags was going to put it anywhere else. Just as well he didn't decide to do a winch attach at the other end, really.
The first thing, which was on my mod hub wishlist, was a logging trailer with autoloader function. Chopping trees is fun, but collecting them is like mikado. I did choose the 12 meter version, because even with this length, it`s not easy to drive on the forest paths.

26:20 You had 6500 liters of woods in the production in the start. Then 6300 in the next day, but it did produce an entire pallet of goods. So it either the deadwood added very little or nothing at all.
Love watching this as I [not so] patiently wait until I'm also able to get this expansion. Little tip for felling timbers with your fellerbuncher: right after you make your initial cut, slightly lift up and pull towards you. This will help the tree fall the right direction and a little faster as well. Happy harvesting
The dead wood contracts got me so excited at the start. Yay free wood I’ll be rich. Went to sell oh a full trailer load $7 🤣. I stick them in my productions now as although not much wood it seems more beneficial then selling it
Daggerwin, just a suggestion and it may not be for you, but I think you should rent yourself a skid steer to grind all the stumps down and extend your yard off to the side, maybe build a shed there or something like that.
That would best wait until a skid steer or tractor-attached stump grinder comes on sale. And he throws away half the sale price at least by purchasing land and hiring a harvester, but he would be 100% better off just looking for contracts to do the fields, he'd get less per field, about a third if he sells the stuff left over, but he would get to use any equipment rented from the field owner, rather than stuck with what he hired on the cheap, and just keep spending his money on getting those lumber places. This entire map is about lumber, doing fieldwork is a breakup of monotony here, not the purpose.
@@markhackett2302 I didn't know there were tractor stump grinders, but one of those would be great to have. You're 100% right about the contracts, though. Doing a few of those from time to time and focusing on logging would be the best thing to do, at least at the very beginning.aybe later down the line he could buy a field and break things up with that.
I have to say that so far I wasn't impressed with 22 and was going to skip 22 all together. But seeing this new release , maybe I will give it a try. FS22 have been VERY enjoyable (778 hours now) would be a shame skipping it ;-) and the new map LOOKS amazing... is some slight issues (like hardly any money from deadwood etc.) but in general it is working very nicely.

However, for me personally, when I see the graphics, I immediately go "nop!. Not gonna play it.!" Its not very bad, but compared to other games, is just not good enough, Look at WOT. Miles appart. It could and should have been better for a game from 2022. I just can't get myself to play it for that reason. I know I am fairly picky with looks. Luckely I'm a minority ;) The new map is better, I fully admit.

(like rock textures in the truck, it just looks FLAT, it goes for all of them but that one is especially bad and is used to show off the new dlc) the ground textures need an over haul and heck even all the plants does... but if I look past just the graphics then the GAMEPLAY matter more to me (but I also played EverQuest for 20 years... then you can talk about dated graphics) So yes they need a fresh engine with mud, sinking into the mud, ripping up fields, non-flat fields when you plow them and such, give it the whole shebang on PC's and then dial it down on consoles if they have to. Right now PC's are held back due to consoles.

I love you're posting about this so often! I've pre-ordered this one and can't wait for it to be out! Definitely the largest DLC to date out of all the editions.
I would also suggest the mod "measure" so you can roughly measure logs without the harvester. Also get some short wood trailers (6m) to put behind the tractor for hauling logs.
Daggerwin, when winching you should attach the winch at the point where you cut it, it's much easier to pull it like that, and you could pull bigger trees to the yard and then pick them up there.
I saw those machines take the logs in the middle to load them, maybe in the game it's the same. 🤗 I wrote before I finished watching the video and you figured it out for yourself.

The winch is cool. I know in FS19 there was a John Deere yarder, not sure if there is one for 22, but it would be interesting to see that or a tower yarder able to utilize the winch mechanic to do some proper draglining. I enjoy l logging when I just want a chill evening, so will definitely be picking this up Tuesday.
Heck, that makes the deadwood contracts a bit better in my eyes. A bit over 1500 to cut down 10 trees, then you don't even have to bother processing or moving them. A pickup truck, a chainsaw......easy money for not much effort on days when you don't have a lot going on.
if ur gonna make a series of logging i really recomend getting some dual joysticks it just makes it alot easier, i recommend the thrustmaster dual joysticks. They might be a bit expensive but if ur making a series it might be worth it :)
Such an incredible map. Sounds like you're still using keyboard/mouse for forestry machines. I can't stress enough...use a gamepad to operate this machinery and you'll be a pro in no time.

You realize the winches are meant to be hooked onto the ends of the logs not the middle right? Connect them on the ends, pull them up tight and drive them into a nest pile. No idea why you'd hook them in the middle. No one does that lol

may be a stupid question but, when you cut down a tree and strip the branches, is that grey circle always there? I tried to strip a tree and it just didnt work at all and I dont have that grey circle
Just a little headsup, deadwood doesnt actually mean its rotten, sometimes you actually kill trees on purpose amd leave them standing so they can dry out without laying on the floor as the moisture from the ground will seep into the wood and cause it to rot on that side ^^ But yes as seen in the game the wood is meant to be rotten or damaged, for example parasites etc

The rollercoaster is classed as a sellpoint so they do pay you for your materials as you go along.

The dead wood load added about 200 to the production. This has made me more interested to try this, forestry isn't really my thing but we can try it

fs22 is great ive been playing it on and off and its probably the most fun ive had with a fs game but i was kind of a late adopter for the series

Make sure you have the Easy arm controls off in the generals settings menu. Makes controlling the crane arms much better in my opinion

Pro tip: Drive the transport vehicle directly behind the harvester output side and just let the wood glide into it.
With the shorter logs you might be able to have the harvester unload the logs directly into the back of the volvo.
Try setting up a Xbox controller for using log cranes, I did that and it makes loading logs way faster and easier

Have you noticed the tractor at the top right and by the field you just bought, just curious if there usable?
I believe those vehicles are usable, but you can't tab to them. I know one lot is for the iron ore at the mine.
The only way to improve your skill with the crane truck, is to keep at it.

That's a processor. A feller buncher cuts a whole tree and lays it onto the ground, a processor cuts the tree into logs.

Just a little headsup, deadwood doesnt actually mean its rotten, sometimes you actually kill trees on purpose amd leave them standing so they can dry out without laying on the floor as the moisture from the ground will seep into the wood and cause it to rot on that side ^^
But yes as seen in the game the wood is meant to be rotten or damaged, for example parasites etc
