I'm surprised how often I get this question as a serial kilter (seemingly the only one in my city/town). I often explain that, so long as the wind isn't too bad, wearing a wool kilt and wool hose is actually warmer than any pants I have in my wardrobe.
I don’t even know if I have any scott in me but I figured I would try something new and when I came out of my room to show my dad him and his girlfriend both laughed at me he said “he thinks he’s irish now” which he’s a father of 6 so it really hurt me. I chose a Scottish kilt out of all of the traditional clothing because it looked the most unique. The pant design is simple and everywhere where as the kilt design is one of a kind.
That is too bad you got such a reaction from your father but if you like wearing kilts then just keep on kilting . He will probably ( I would hope ) start to see the kilt for what it is ....a fantastic garment . I got comments and jokes from my friends and family ( I am 63 however ) but after a short time they realized I just brushed off the jokes and now my kilt wearing is normal to them . In fact they would probably ask why I wasn't wearing one if that ever happened ....which it is not likely ! LOL Don't live your life for other people . Live your life for what you like to do . cheers
It also depends on what you're doing. I go hiking all the time here in AZ. If it's above a certain temp, I don't go, which means some very early morning hikes in the summer. In the winter, it's still not bad. I'll go in the 30's in the morning when it's the coldest and I am fine with piper hose, kilt and a turtle neck or such. Haven't done the snow thing yet kilted.
I wear year round and ny heaviest is 16oz, always correct unless I'm working at height and bootsocks. But I am in Notts/Derbyshire so it doesn't get cold really imb.
Soooo, in all seriousness. For Regimental Kilt wearers, what do you suggest to help keep the jewel pouch from sticking to the side of the legs? I use a simple gold bond talk. But what else/ Fell free to wait till the next Q@A vid for this if you like.
USA Kilts & Celtic Traditions - I've seen drawings of older times, where it looked like the wearer had on some kind of cold weather leg wrappings. Usually, with a Great Kilt. Any ideas or thoughts?
Hi guys. So here's my issues. I have a high core temp, in Utah, love my kilt, but can't wear wool. So I don't wear one in the winter, what ideas do you have?
OK, who the heck wears kilts? Not for some occasion, but just wear kilts. Yeah, I have Scottish clan affiliations , and know you say just do it, but who ? I am not trying to be difficult here. I am just trying to wrap my head around a thing that I have never ever seen before. I am from the Southeast, and am trying to gain the courage to wear my kilt to more than just thew highland games.
We do and a lot of our customers do! To meet a lot of those people, check out our Facebook group: Kilts & Culture - facebook.com/groups/kiltsandculture/
I'm in Michigan. About a month ago, going to a store, there's this guy walking across the parking lot in a kilt. Sooo... Why not? We've got an Indian guy in the neighborhood that practically wears his sandals 12 months out of the year. Plus, what about those portly boys you see still wearing shorts with snow falling down from the sky? Charles - put it on and own it!
It has just got to be done. I am American, therefore I am a mut, Scottish, English, German, Native Indian. But with having clan ties, and having different scots in my family heritage. I identify more with that. It will be done.
@@charlesdriggers199 - Once you go to that People of Walmart website, you'll never feel embarrassed about wearing a kilt anymore. At least compared to those people! :)

Only problem I have is when the wind picks up in the middle of winter.
Heavier pin on your apron, I recommend the Motörhead warpig badge :-)

The kilt works both in the cold and warm both I have worn an 8 yard in the summer and winter and never felt hot or cold
How to keep ice crystals off the balls?!?

JOSEF BORG Well, I put mine on before I put my coat on and make sure I wash my hands. Just on the inside of her legs and we’re good
I love your videos, mates! Great job!

Why not line a wool kilt with a material you can wear?
Or long Johns cut to a suitable height above the knee.
