  • A video of a very easy and simple antenna installation that bolts to the bed of the Toyota Tacoma pickup truck. No drilling holes, no modification of the truck, just bolting and zip-tying. OK, you do have to make a hole in the rubber grommet, but that's what grommets are for. This applies to antennas for CB, amateur radio, and GMRS setups. My Tacoma is a 3rd gen, but this probably works for 2nd gen, 4th gen and 5th gen as well.

I’m wanting to install a CB on my 2022 Tacoma and I’m wondering if I should spend the extra money to get the No Ground Plane version of the Firestik antenna. Or do you think the regular version would be ok?

i did something similar with a screwdriver antenna but mounted it in the stake pocket. works OK but i think there should be more focus on grounding/bonding for a much better receive and transmit antenna. I used 1 inch tinned copper strap for bonding but dont think it works very well unless you sand off the paint and primer down to bare metal for a good contact but then you open your self up to corrosion. anyway good video

The grounding was my biggest concern. I originally had more discussion about grounding, but figured it was overkill for the normal user. Even though I ground off the powder coating on the mount itself, there is some kind of coating on the bolts and I'm not sure they provide a good ground. I'm now running a short strap from the mount to the tailgate latch, which is bare metal. 73!
