Einstein explained relativity something like this: put your hand on a flame for a minute and it seems like an hour. Talk to a pretty girl for an hour and it seems like just a minute. This felt like a minute. Thanks, Ben
@@JohnBack since it's basically just a quite loose spring in a tube, it shouldn't break from it - however, I wouldn't do it too often. (Although replacing it isn't the hardest thing either)
@@paulhermes990 I just do it occasionally for fun - my main concern is that it might knock a solder connection loose over time. Love my spring reverb :)
This is the first video in a very long time that I just had to start again once it ended. This is one of the best videos on the internet about this synth. Definitely keep making videos!
I saw this comment and was prepared for something cool, never thinking that it would actually blow my mind. But yeah, it blew my mind. That was so cool.
Loving the sounds coming from this synth! Currently browsing what to get myself and have been looking at the Grandmother for a minute. It just looks like an extremely fun time to noodle around and get some gnarly loops. Great playing and thanks for sharing
Thanx for playing, and really using the instrument as an instrument. I tried the GM once, and the sound is so alive and expressive, It really makes it hard since i wanted to buy a 5 octave polysynth but now im not sure anymore 😅🙃 and hooking it up to my sequencer would also be loads of fun
Any chance of you doing some tutorials on this amazing synth? I only just bought mine and although I'm in love with her, I'm also a little confused. Thanks for the great video!
sweet run-through. you know how to play with GM. perfect beginner synth for me. don't like the feeling of presets. GM makes it fun to experiment. all the controls seem so musical.
I'm assuming the unit to the right is a device for playing prerecorded samples. (I saw Thomas Dolby use something similar although with about one fourth of the keys.) What is the brand and name?
I'm not your guy but I make techno using it...my method?...get ripped and collapse inside it for hours...the resulting jam is recorded on digital 4 track and then into Live for the dissection...it's like creating a palette of sound to paint with...the sound is so rich and warm...great for techno...enjoy...

For everyone who wants to know. He's patching the oscillator from the modulation section to act as a 3rd oscillator.
So good. Just convinced me to buy one after being on the fence for months. Do more videos man!!
slap on spring reverb is masterpiece
Loved this as well ...but is it safe to do?

@The Even Order Cheers! Good to know - and appreciate you taking the time to reply! :)
Fantastic! You know, I knew this was an analogue synth but when he slapped the spring reverb, I had to do a double take lol
Still one of my favorite pieces of music. And a great inspiration to work towards getting a grandmother! Beautiful sounds, and beautiful work my man.
I come back to this every few weeks! Just wonderful!
From 9:25 on, that's the joint. Rocking that filter and the spring reverb at 10:05. Great ending!!!!
This is crazy good .. I would pay money for this music ..
This is just wonderful. Sound and playing style are so alive and go rather beautifully together...

Woah!
Unreal.
so frikkin rad
Sick preformance. Any effects?
Hey dude, What model stand are you using for your synths?
Mind blown
I'm assuming the unit to the right is a device for playing prerecorded samples. (I saw Thomas Dolby use something similar although with about one fourth of the keys.) What is the brand and name?
Let it rip!
Amazing stuff man! wanted to know what your thoughts are on the grandmother for Techno production?
I'm not your guy but I make techno using it...my method?...get ripped and collapse inside it for hours...the resulting jam is recorded on digital 4 track and then into Live for the dissection...it's like creating a palette of sound to paint with...the sound is so rich and warm...great for techno...enjoy...
Fucking Hell! Where’ve you been all my life?
going through any external processing?
3:30 u just hitting it to make the spring make some noise? That’s a sweet hack
Just finished tho, good performance
Used to do this with my guitar amp with spring Reverb. Classic clang
Sounds great! What stand are you using to hold the Grandmother?
looks like a K&M
10:08
Annihilation
the rainy day made me click this one, exchange subs anyone? or owner of the video even?
Extra oscillator patch?
Yup he's using the LFO as an extra oscillator
U like Human league and Gary Numan dont you? :-D
delicious
It ain’t rainy
Dude, why the fuk your hands look like laytex gloves half filled with water? Cool sounds though!
nothing tells me "rainy day" from what you're playing
ugh, this is kind of like watching some random dude noodling with a synth at guitar center.
enjoyed the video. On a side note, what are you using to hold your grandmother and maschine(?) next to it?
Scott L. Hines I think that’s the Ableton Push 2.
