- This was a bittersweet travel day (s)... On one hand, I was so happy to drive the tuktuk for a long time. After all the times I practiced, I finally mastered up the courage to overcome any "obstacle" that would come down my way. And I felt proud of myself like I've never have before.
But on the other hand... it was our last day with Aliya (our little 🛺). And it was so hard to say goodbye. Today was the end of something. Something so special, we will never forget it. We will look back at these memories for the rest of our lives.
We hope you enjoy today's video, where we travel from Jaffna to Colombo in our little tuktuk Aliya. Sorry if it is a little sappy, but this was really an amazing experience. We feel so lucky to be able to do this, but also to be able to share our journey with you.

One thing I admire both of you is your love, grace and appreciation to what you have and given to you. The way you loved and appreciated the mechanical machine tuk-tuk which you drove around, when you parted with it, knowing it does not have feelings, heart or a soul. Was Jaffna worth the time & money to drive due to being so far? I'll be renting a tuktuk for 24 days in September. Also, if you have a ref code I'll use it to rent. Thanks in advance.
So for us it was kind of mixed - we did enjoy the sense of accomplishment making it from the bottom to the top of 🇱🇰 in a tuktuk. And Jaffna is cool, especially if you're interested in observing the Tamil culture. It does feel like a different world up there. But Jaffna isn't somewhere with unmissable sites, so it is a long detour in a tuktuk because you can easily see everything in two full days (including some of the islands outside the city). but it takes nearly 2 days of driving to get there and back. So it's kind of a personal preference thing, but if I had to lean one way it would be towards 'not worth the time.' Hope that helps. We really can't say that was our experience with police officers at all. I'm sure there are corrupt ones, but we got stopped by the police 4 times throughout our 1-month journey, and not once they asked for money.
Driving vehicle on road is not a joke😂😂😂 so keep your eyes on road instead of on camera and shooting the contents for TH-cam 😮😢.
You peoples are not used too to manual hand gears.
