It is *wild* to me how true to life those games are. Like imagine any game set in America or somewhere else just getting a parking lot exactly right in game.
I stayed in Kabukicho in the Godzilla hotel at the end of my first trip to Japan back in December, mostly for the Yakuza memes. Unfortunately Theater Square is gone and replaced by the Godzilla Hotel building, but what could be considered Millennium Tower (the Tokyu Kabukicho building) is there just off of the square, though I didn’t go to the roof to see a shirtless Yakuza executive fistfight. There’s a Starbucks on the second floor, an izakaya with karaoke on the first, a Zepp theater in the basement, a Taito arcade on the 3rd floor, a movie theater and hotel rooms in the middle floors as well. I of course took photos of the gate, the Donki, the particular parking lot, and the Karaokekan on the Main Street for reasons. Also, the games didn’t prepare me for how many Nigerian/Liberian/South African touts will try and pull you into bars or try and show you girls as soon as the sun goes down and all the family tourists (and the cops) disappear, it’s especially bad near the Champion District/Golden Gai.
I stayed in that hotel my first time in Japan in December, mostly for the memes. It was a comfortable hotel, but since it is in Kabukicho, people are gonna get freaky in there even if most of the clientele looked like they were families with kids and the like. On my last night there, I was coming back late from a shopping trip in Odaiba and walking in the hallway towards my room when I heard female moaning coming through the door of the room next to mine. The rooms were rather soundproof, but the doors not so much. Thought the guy there was just watching an AV or something but then I heard male grunting, and then a couple minutes later back in my room, I heard the shower going through the bathroom vents. Alright, I figured some salaryman on vacation or work probably picked up a tachinbo at Okubo Park nearby and took her back to the hotel; ssg Kabukicho, you don’t disappoint

I wouldn’t be surprised if the contract ran something along the lines of that the owner of the stand location ran a karage shop of some kind that sold the ramen chicken, but due to whatever financial or labor availability issues, they couldn’t continue traditional operations so they decided to rent the spot on the proviso that whoever takes over the spot has to continue to sell that item in the hopes that the business can take their location back over at full staff in the future.
