I'm like you...I'm a HUGE SNSD fan...but I was captured by Crayon Pop the first time I saw them do Saturday Night. I listened to Bing Bing over 90 times one day. The most addictive song I've ever listened to!
I admit that I'm a big fan of the biggest kpop group(SNSD) but truly I say Crayon Pop captured me even if they are considered as underdogs. They have talents and charm especially their Live is much better. Their style is so different from other groups I love which makes them stand out so greatly. I hope for their great success.
I agree! Also, a reason I like them is that they are from a small company, maybe even the first group debut of the company and they show so much effort. They don't have the best music made, but they have this great style of music that makes it fun to listen too, even is they have effects over there voices. Love them.
Have you heard the Dubstep Mix? (on the same mini album as the regular version) It's even better. I don't usually prefer remixes but that version really gives the song an edge.

T-ara is know for doing the "Retro" thing pretty well and since they came out with Roly Poly and hit it big with it there where bound to be other groups to also do the Retro thing to capitalize on their success. While T-ara did a re-imagining of basically Saturday Night Fever (not really they mix it in with the film Sunny which feature flashbacks with a mature lady revisiting her youth) which feature John Travolta with music by The Bee Gees and called their Mini-Album, "John Travolta Wannabe." Even their attire was very "Americanized". Up comes Crayon Pop and they do a reworking of the same concept and even entitled their own Mini Album Saturday Night, though both Roly Poly & Saturday Night don't bare any resemblance to anything by the Bee Gees you can see where they both got their inspiration from. They are both neat takes on a classic era of music & film.
This video wasn't inspired by Roly Poly or the John Travolta movie. The name Saturday Night is coincidental. The video was inspired by LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem. If you look carefully in the background, you see proof of this.
CommanderCronus-I believe they did this (adding elements from LMFAO) to hide or alter the fact they DID indeed take the T-ara concept as their inspiration. I'm not saying its a bad thing mind you, but SoYul is dressed very much like Soyeon of T-ara in Roly oly and she sports the same hairdo as Bo Ram in the same video. 2 in 1 type thing. The other girls do appear to be dressed like LMFAO members from said video and yes there are those back up dancers further pushing the Party Anthem "look". BUT they appear to have done that on purpose to hide the fact they its not a "straight up" copycat of some one else's idea. Now none of that changes the fact that Crayon Pop still made Saturday Night a lot of fun. If its any consolation T-ara was inspired by LMFAO's Party Anthem also when they did the shuffle dance for Lovey Dovey. Peace.
TheAtticGnome-I think Crayon Pop's boss was intrigued how Bo Ram steals all the scenes she is in, in Roly Poly due to her petite stature and cuteness and hence when creating Crayon Pop he wanted only petite girls for this group. So Yul was the 1st member to be added to the group and she proved to be a dynamo.

Different, Crayon Pop is from Chrome Entertainment and they are the only artists in the company currently. They dance pretty well and synchronized =) amazing group
I was mesmerised by that guy with the disco ball. He's all like, whoa what's this thing in my hands! And then whoa where's it gone...oh there it is! etc. The girls were also quite good.
