    I am doing that with My Grandkids, as well!

      Yea most definitely! A lot of it people would just fill with filler and make it work but I'm trying to avoid some of that and "man-up" and repair these spots that bother me. I'm still learning myself and mess up! Thanks for watching! -Matt/ITG

    Amazing how much work to take care of a small issue. We HAVE to teach the young people how to fabricate and machine parts! I've been doing engine/drivetrain ,suspension and electrical for 40 years, but always left paint and bodywork to people in that trade. Your metalworking skills are one reason I find your work so interesting. Thanks for posting.

    Nice fix Matt. Back from the swap....always enjoyable. 2 vids up and one more to wrap it up. A little "old sign" heavy... But now I believe I'll take a different approach to that type of event next time. Enjoy.

    Excellent stuff, as always. Some people just seem to get it perfect on the first go around, or is that due to the editing table...lol
    Great to hear that Andrew is getting more involved. Of all the things you guys are doing, that may be the most important. Kudos!
    How about an update on the flathead for the "free-T"?

      Hi Daniel, yea there are high end guys getting stuff right the first time around. I definitely am NOT doing that haha. I tend to rush stuff and weld it up to get to the next "step" and then I kick myself because something changed and I need to take two steps back. I'll be the first to admit that I don't always do things right or the best! Andrew has been getting involved whenever he can get over, but school has been his main focus as he is now in some tech classes taking traditional welding courses. I know we plan to hit his project hard once we find a body! I have to go pick up the crank from the crank grinder this week (maybe tonight!) and I'll do an update when we drop it back off with Don that's building the engine! -Matt/ITG

    that is looking real good wish i was closer id help you on the body and paint work i did that on weekend for 30 yrs on buddies hot rods

      Thanks Jody, I'm very weak at body filler/painting stuff. I am going to have a friend assist me on it. I can do it, I'm just slow at it and I want to keep the momentum going on it! Hoping we can be doing that stuff next month! -Matt/ITG

    Looks awesome Matt, What is the plan for paint on the free T Mat finish color, Flat Black or a gloss paint job. Just my opinion I like the gloss black it will be remanence to the famous Ed Iskerderian T roadster Hot Rod

      Great question Gerry! Looking to do a gloss black, but subdued to look sort of like an old lacquer paint job! I think a full-on gloss modern paint job will sort of kill the "old" vibe I have going on the car. The Isky T and the Blackie T are a HUGE influence on me with this build. They both were built from oddball modified frames and were cut up/cut down T bodies, and both Black! I wanted the car to pay homage to guys building low-slung hot rods of the 40's.     Just a thought i had watching this video...pertaining to the body line on the cowl, i wonder what it would look like if you made a bead to run back across the a-pillar to line up with the bead on the body? It looks like something is missing to me there thats all.

      The windshield stanchion goes there. So it is covered. If I put a bead there the stanchion won't sit flush. I have been wanting to do that too, but it will cause a ton of work on the stanchion to make it fit then. Catch-22 situation. Thanks for watching as always! -Matt/ITG

    Quick question, what does that body weigh? I see its just up on some saw horses. Is it manageable for just a couple guys to pick it up? I'm working on a van and moving the thing around is just crazy unmanageable lol

      Hey Paul, The body has to weight maybe 200-250 pounds? Can't weight much! Mike and I can carry it around pretty easily. I bet I could move it alone if it wasn't so awkward of a size. One nice thing about early cars!

      In case you're still wondering and you mean the one at 4:55, that's the mount for the steering box.

    Matt I have a QUESTION ABOUT YOUR TIG WELDER!!!!!!!!!!! ARE YOU A FINGER CONTROL. ON THE TIG. OR ARE YOU A PEDAL CONTROL. What do you like. Am looking to buy a TIG. Got a AC /DC. Miller welder gas power. Plus a miller 250 wire feed.. But every one telling me TIG,,, is the way to go. Do you like finger control or pedal control. I would think bench work!!!!!!! pedal would be the way to go!!!!!! But for field work...... I would think finger control would be the way to go. It's just like operating a skidsteer is it pedals or hand controls?????? Me it's hands to eyes!!!!!!! your better,,,,,, then hands to pedals. Old time heavy crane operator told me that years ago.       Hey Samuel, I used to be a pedal-only guy for years, but I switched to finger switch on my TIG and I REALLY like it for welding in/on a vehicle. It makes life a little easier as I always seem to be out-of-position. Some of the Miller's have a roller switch on the torch you can vary amperage with your finger, where as this machine you program the settings into the machine and activate the weld functions by clicking the switch. (start amps-ramp up time-weld amps-pulse-ramp down-end amps). It's all personal preference honestly! I mostly do sheet metal welding anymore so my experience may be different than others welding on heavier stuff more often. -Matt/ITG
