  • The neck must have been switched when sold originally. Many horns King,Martin,Selmer etc. have this problem. It means nothing as there still is a numbered orginal committee neck.
Steve Silverstein repadded this one with brass resonators. Its great.

Martins are the best horns IMO. Great playing, thanks.

I own one...just took a good look after letting it sit in the closet for decades (yes). Retired now, realized that what I always considered a "student" horn is a Martin Committee alto, but the engraving is very light and hard to read. It does say "low pitch" serial 123XXX on the back. I always loved the sound--easy blowing and very sweet, kind of like Paul Desmond. I'm wondering if my horn was re-lacquered?

Re-lacquering horns was fairly common back in the day. If the lacquer is 95% complete it's very likely been re-lacquered.

Hi The ligature is made from kevlar cord by Steve Silvertein (aka Silverlion) This horn is still available. I accept paypal. Accessed by my email address pwsax@comcast.net. I would reduce the price to $1600 as I moving and need the $. Bob Ackerman
