Katelyn far more muscular than the other runners.. that really helps her on the hills. I still get the feeling she's only using about 85-90% of her energy at this point. She barely looks tired. Scary to think how much she can still improve.

It’s very interesting to watch Katelyn’s stride it’s straight back, her center of gravity is excellent, the drive is outstanding. If you watch the other women you see the heels go out away from their center so it looks like they are fighting to keep the center solid. Katelyn center is solid and straight you don’t see her heels go away from that center.

To all those who have commented about the cart that is following the runners. It is not gasoline powered it is propane powered. a lot of your forklifts used in warehouses are powered by the same type of engines because they emit very little CO2. When operating outside there is no danger. People also use propane for there stoves inside. Finally electric carts are a great idea but they are terrible on steep incline especially if wet or muddy.

I have been a runner for al most 60 years. My siblings and kids were runners and some still are. It saddens me greatly - and gets me angry - to see these XC races where GAS_POWERED carts are right in front of these women. So they are constantly running in to the exhaust cloud. What a horrible irony that this is done - as these women train so well and take such good care of their bodies for running and then the idiots in charge of these races puts gas fumes right in their faces. Yet we live in a world where Tesla is a well known name. And golf carts of all types abound.
This is a crime against humanity and it must stop. If I were ever to run in a XC or road race and found myself with gas-power vehicles in front, I would either quit or temporarily stop to get away. My health - my damn lungs are more important than the "need" for front-runner video. This is the epitome of irony that we have usually overweight or at least out-of-shape people riding in gas-powered vehicles video-taping outstanding athletes - and pushing fumes into their lungs as though it is "just a cost of doing business."

Congrats! Not so good having to suck fumes from the Kubota in front of you the whole race.

KT can be the Lewis Hamilton of running. I hope that she reaches out to LH for knowledge and inspiration. Otherwise kick butt KT.

How is it that they still don't have an electric camera cart leading the pack? Seriously?

NC State has the finest coaching. They all push up early then get eaten up by the Pack... Another well coached team is New Mexico.

The circus animal has one-hell of a "kick" at the end of every race that is almost unbelievable. I 'll bet her body type and diet have a lot to do with it. I have run cross country myself, years ago, and the end "kick" at the end of the race worked for me every time. Her O2 debt and use of ATP is very efficient. There may be carb loading as well.
