Sorry for all you have been through, both personally and with your back, glad you found someone who shares your passions, look forward to seeing you both in future videos…all the best Marten..👍🏻
Glad to see you back Marten, things are on the up for you now! Your new lady friend is a keeper! I can’t get my wife to vacuum my observatory, it’s a double win for you🤣 Best of luck for the new season! CS
I am also preparing my observatory... from scratch! I hope to finish everything, except the electrical part, this week. Your series of videos building yours has been a great help. At least half of the views must be mine, LOL. PS: Better times are going to come, for sure. Keep pushing, stay strong 💪🏼
Sorry to hear about the divorce and back, but great news about the latest addition to your life and I wish you both the best and plenty of clear skies together!
Great video. Can you say something about cleaning? I assume you clean the Optics and everything now, how often do you clean the Optics during the season? And how do you do it? Just using a blower ? Br Kenneth
Thank you so much for watching! I have an older video with cleaning of the optics. I don't clean during the season, I just haven't had any need. I use blower and cloth, also fluid.
Hi Marten. Can i ask what software you are using for the polar alignment. It looks far better than me trying to look through the polar scope and breaking my back!
Hi there Marten, I am a new subscriber from New Zealand….about as far away from your country as it is possible to get ! I am a very keen astrophotographer and Am about to embark on a pier and observatory build. I really enjoy your videos…but I’m not a handyman. I like the video on the pier plate manufacture as I also have an HEQ5 pro and can’t buy one anywhere ! I will ask my local engineering firm to shape and drill. One question I have regarding your excellent images is….i notice that you use zwo nb filters but your pictures show no evidence of halos at all ! I get terrible halos in Ha and Oiii. Either you are very good at removing them or you have found a way of not getting them in the first place ? Any tips would be very welcome. I am sorry to hear about your medical problem and personal. As the great philosopher Boethius said, ‘ this too shall pass’. With very best wishes and clear skies, Andy
Hello, and thank you for watching! I do get halos from time to time, not so much in HA, but in OIII and sometimes in SII. I think that is the case with most 7nm filters, since you have to go down to 3nm and the very best to avoid them. That is expensive :D I have a video on removing halos, that you can check out, but depending on object you will never get everything out. For example, Horsehead Nebula. Good luck with your observatory and your images!
Sorry to hear about your divorce. It happens to the best of us.. you will get stronger, trust me.. just make sure your new partner is not just after your astronomy equipment 😊 sorry my stupid sense of humour... wishing you clear skies..
Hi, Thank you for sharing the observatory preparation and hope you have a great astrophotography season (the nice thing about 63 lat is long nights in the fall and winter). When we look at the sky we can see infinity which keeps us in awe at the greatness of the universe - this brings perspective and helps us to deal with many of the challenges we face. As an aside, I have had a herniated disc for more than 20 years - I find that what helps a lot is to get your body in traction (tension) 2-3 times per week through either an inverted table or using a machine to do pull downs. Avoid compression such as lifting heavy weights. This has helped me progress (I can now lift my CDK12.5) and reduce pain greatly. Clear skies and thank you for sharing your great videos Sam (Montreal)
Looks like you're seriously ready for the season man! Looking forward to see more! :) Glad to hear things are getting better also!
Thank you my friend :D I am as prepared as I can be, only lacking darkness and nice weather.
Hoping for a great season for you. I've been through everything you talked about. Glad you are doing well
Thank you so much! Let's hope for clear skies for the both of us 😀
