  • Guindy National Park
    Located in Chennai, India, Guindy National Park is a 2.70 km2 (1.04 sq mi) protected area within Tamil Nadu and is one of the few national parks located within a city.Considering the ecological, faunal, floral, geomorphological, and zoological importance of the area, In 1920 Guindy was declared as Reserve Forest. Later an area of 270.57 ha of the Guindy Park Reserved Forest was declared a National Park in 1978.
    One of the few remaining remnants of Southern Tropical Dry Evergreen Forests forms a pattern of mosaic with grasslands and scrubs in the National Park. A total of 350 species of plants have been identified, most of which are indigenous. During the summer months, parts of the vegetation look dry, but the National Park turns green and verdant after monsoon rains

    Includes a fossilized tree specimen that is estimated to be about 20 million years old, and a statue of a Tyrannosaurus at the entrance
