The passing of Leonard Nimoy makes me sad because I remember always going home and just seeing my dad on the couch watching re-runs of Star-Trek and I would sit down and watch them with him. Seeing him leave us is like seeing a part of the family leave us. This man will always be remembered in my family. RIP Leonard Nimoy

Two hundred thousand people (so far) have re-tweeted his poignant final message and the armies of sci-fi fans will keep Mr. Nimoy's memory alive.

I really would love if the people in charge of the next Star Trek movie could see this post, but even if they don't, I want to share this idea with you all.
I really think it would be an emotional and perfect way to honor Leonard Nimoy one last time by having the next film open with the Enterprise crew attending the funeral of Spock Prime, paying their respects with a very brief little eulogy. Then the title card comes up, and the proper movie begins.
A simple, but perfectly respectable way to honor Nimoy before boldly going forward again. Please make it so, Paramount.

Jones6192---why don't you contact Paramount maybe they just need a nudge. I think it would be a great opening to a great actor and human being. For just a 10 minute or so opening. I think your idea would be very acceptable. Leonard Nimoy did live long and prosper. I grew up with Star Trek and to this day will watch as much as I can. At my house today I shall watch Start Trek Into Darkness.

It might be difficult for anyone under the age of 40 to understand the impact Leonard Nimoy had on budding young minds of the 60s, 70s and 80s. He was a colossus of the science fiction genre, you'll never see his like again. I studied engineering because of Montgomery Scott but it was Spock who inspired me to endeavour and succeed. Rest in peace Leonard.

My mom told me that he passed today, and I broke into tears. I had met William Shatner briefly for a photo at one of his shows on stage where he talks about his life, but I had never met my favorite, Leonard Nimoy. I was hoping I would someday, but now that dream is crushed. I felt like he was almost like my friend. I remember you in the music video for The Lazy Song. I'll miss you Leonard Nimoy, Spock, and singer of Bilbo Baggins! You will forever be in my heart!

***** I heard it from a Kingdom Hearts video in the comments and couldn't believe it. I've lost count how many times they've quoted Spock in that show. Not to mention the episode where Sheldon's action figure spoke to him in a dream with a cameo VA from Nimoy himself.

so many times spock has been mentioned in some form during the big bang theory.. his DNA on a napkin, the action figure, restraining order, rock paper sissors lizard spock, etc etc.

So sad! And I never got to meet him! Right when I'm about halfway through watching all episodes of the original Star Trek.

Now that Nimoy is dead I finally realize, I need some more Star Trek. Not the just okay action Star Trek Movies in cinema, but this hole inside star trek universe feeling, which made me study computer sciene and physics and makes me enjoy dreaming every day about, if there is more than just this fu**ed up world.
Plz give us back some inspiration. I could need some right now.
    RIP

I spoke personally with Leonard Nimoy in 2010 Calgary Comicon. His response to my question was "Anything is possible". My question is irrelevant. His films and our memories of him will live long and prosper.

R.I.P., Mr. Nimoy. Thanks for all of your work, and a great career, in front of the camera and otherwise. Thank you for also bringing one of the most forever iconic TV (and film) characters to life, in logical living color. I still think about the little two minute part you did in 'Them,' and how you added something to that great sci-fi flick with just that little scene. Goodbye, my friend.
Take care, Spock. Wherever you may be, continue living and prospering - and watching Captain Kirk's back. :)

I worked at my schools play. On back stage before the show the lead actor asked who should we dedicate the show to. I then said we should dedicate it to Lenard Nimoy. Another actor was surprised to hear that he was dead.

    A big part
    of my boyhood
    went beyond
    the stars today.
    I'd rush home
    after school
    in an illogical
    sort of way.
    He got me through
    a patch of pain
    way back in '73.
    And would probably
    arch an eyebrow.
    Learning what he
    meant to me.
    And midst
    the years
    I've still gone back.
    Reflect how far
    I've come.
    A special place
    is in my heart
    for one
    of Boston's Sons.
    And so,
    a sad salute
    I give.
    With fingers
    slightly parting.
    Go boldly on
    where all souls go.
    For Death,
    Like Life,
    means Starting.
    So venture on
    new enterprise,
    You've just began again.
    And thanks
    For always being there-
    You always were
    my friend.
