this was my first car in high school. parents bought it in 2005 from the owner of the local lexus dealership at when i was a sophomore. it was a pretty ho hum car but the pros were it was super quiet for sneaking out late at night (parents never heard me in the driveway, neither did my gf's parents heheh), you could easily stuff 4 of your buddies comfortably in it, and the cd player played burnt cd's! drove it for about one school year, then sold it to our garbage man lol.
My dad had one in a grayish silver when I was a kid, and holy I loved that car when I got to sit in it when he drove it around, sometimes I would sit in it alone just admiring everything about it, it was so quiet inside, this gave me the love for the Lexus LS400 I bought and my now new to me 1991 Toyota Celsior (Japanese Market LS400) you can’t go wrong with these old Lexuses.
I remember watching this episode on TV in 1991!!! The host of this show, Ted Laturnus, at the end of the year rated the best and worst cars of the year for 1991, and he said the 1991 Lexus ES250 was the worst car of the year because it was just a rebadged Toyota Camry with 6 cylinders and slightly upgraded interior seats. In 1989, my Dad said that he wanted to buy the 1990 Lexus ES250 because J.D. Power and Associates rated Lexus as the number 1 brand as the most reliable car brand in 1990! He ended up buying a 1990 Toyota Corolla LE and the Toyota's interior was just as good as the Lexus for seat quality, fit and finish, and interior plastics!!!

If it's tHe WoRsT cAr Of ThE yEaR, then why for example Acura TL, which is a luxurious equivalent of Honda Accord, is popular? Edit: "slightly upgraded interior seats"? Isn't the Lexus ES250 a Toyota Camry with everything upgraded?
A lot of folks hate on this car and idk understand why ? I have a mx73 Cressida and a 1990 es 250 I gotta say there both lovely and till this day get compliments on both 🙏🏽
I can only imagine how much this cost, in 1991 if they called it outrageous. I vaguely my grandmother’s friend bought a Cressida for 33,000 in 1989 so with it must have been well into the mid/high $30s, which would indeed be a lot, considering you could get something like a Dodge Spirit for about $14,000.
@@67tomcat To me the 1st gen Lexus ES is the best looking Lexus car (the second best looking is Lexus LS 400 1st and 2nd gen pre-facelift, and the third is Lexus LS 400 2nd gen facelift).
