You are officially my favorite reactor. The temptations now the 5 heartbeats!! I’m obsessed 😭😫 no one else reacts to these classics I’m so excited to watch!! I was laughing so hard last night watching the temptations reaction! THANK YOU SM
Written by Robert Townsend (Duck). This was loosely based off the legendary group The Dells (who actually did the vocals) showing what soul singers and groups had to deal with in the 60's from shady record companies, racism and other traps of fame. The part where Duck was singing America in the car after they were pulled over was subliminally sending a message on how there's a side of Amerikkka many turn a blind eye to.
@@P1nkyBlack he is. Actually he, Keenan Ivory Wayans, and Eddie Murphy are good friends. They were working on starting their own production company in the early 90's but the company backing them stepped out of the deal due to pressure from other studios.
@yana9084 they did both along with a little help from a few former members of the Temptations. Leon did a little singing when he did the showdown with Flash. The Heartbeats actually did a promotional concert with the Dells to promote the movie. They mostly lip synced while the Dells did the majority of the singing. In the movie the voice of Eddie King Jr is Marvin Junior, then Andre Crouch in the church scene... Most people don't know this was originally Keenan Ivory Wayans project. He had Robert Towsend in it along with his brother Damon and a few others. Damon wasn't sold on it, and opportunity for Kennan to create In Living Color. Robert Townsend was working on a project about the Temptations. David Ruffin backed out because he was worried Barry Gordy would sue him. Keenan turned over the Heartbeats to Robert Towsend. He combined a little of what he had with some insight from the Dells. With a little help from friends like Patti Labelle and budget of $8 million, Robert pulled it off. He also did a little singing himself, but most of it was lip synced. I was searching for the interview with Robert Towsend and Keenan Ivory Wayans talking about everything on the Barry Allen show
During the part where they were arguing and flash slams the door in his face that was real lol flash’s actor was really about to fight him which is why he slammed it so hard
Just found your channel for the reaction to the NE Story. Thank you so much for covering movies others don't. I watched this movie way too much in college. I still quote lines from it.
The guy who said they were better then the other groups was lying. He was with bird and the midnight falcons that’s why he grouped them with the temptations.
I love watching reactions from this generation on movies I’ve watched when it first came out and then some. Because I know what’s coming next To see you having the same reaction is amazing. I’ve watch three videos and can’t stop laughing. You are funny. I can’t wait to watch more. Here’s a list just in case you run out of movies to rewatch to… The Color Purple Beat Street Krush Groove Breakin Breakin 2: Electric Boogaloo I can not wait and I hope you never saw any of these before. Yea I’m subscribed. When you make me laugh non stop, I have to subscribe. Now back to the show
Your reaction to this movie was DELIGHTFUL. I'm so glad a movie this old could mk you as a young man smile. I had a GREAT tine watching with & wish you all the best. God bless you 🙏🏽 ❤
The Five Heartbeats is one of my favorite movies. I would watch my cousin recite this movie. Fun Facts: Eddie’s last name was King but the southern drawl made it to be pronounced Kane. Denzel Washington was Robert Townsend’s first choice to play Eddie Kane & the late Whitney Houston was Robert Townsend’s first choice to play Baby Doll. There was a lot of tension while filming this movie causing it to be almost not made. Please watch the following movies: Hollywood Shuffle Meteor Man B.A.P.S. Holiday Heart Carmen A Hip Hopera
Lil Man Hit Tf Out That Foot Work.. Classic Dance Moves are so cool to me. Especially when i notice the commonalities with modern dances some of em have
@qmchale5130 Nah. They weren't. I remember he called her his fiance when he announced it was his last day as a Heartbeat too. Had been between 25 and 30 years since I'd seen the movie.
That’s love..💜 I’ve already watched “Cadillac Records” it’s on patreon coming to TH-cam soon! if you want to watch it early here’s the link: www.patreon.com/posts/93495544?
I just watched The Five Heartbeats for the first time and wow, what an amazing movie! The story was compelling and heartfelt, and I was completely invested in the lives of the characters from start to finish. The performances were outstanding, especially the lead actors, who truly showcased their talent and brought so much depth to their roles. The music in this film was absolutely phenomenal. Each song was not only beautifully performed but also carried so much emotion and meaning. I found myself singing along and getting caught up in the powerful messages behind the lyrics. The way the music intertwined with the story was masterfully done and elevated the whole movie experience. Speaking of the story, it was an incredible journey of triumphs and struggles, both personally and professionally, for the Five Heartbeats. I was hooked from the beginning as we followed their rise to fame within the music industry, witnessing their friendships being tested and their dreams being shattered. The movie explored so many themes like loyalty, betrayal, redemption, and the importance of staying true to yourself. One thing that particularly stood out to me was the chemistry between the actors. Their interactions felt genuine and believable, and the camaraderie among the group was palpable. I could feel the bond they had built over the years, which made their fallouts and reconciliations even more impactful. Overall, The Five Heartbeats is a timeless classic that deserves all the praise it has received over the years. It celebrates the power of music and showcases the ups and downs of pursuing your dreams. If you haven't seen this movie yet, I highly recommend giving it a watch.
ROBERT TOWNSEND aka Duck has been a writer/producer for years.Leon ,the one that plays Robert Townsend brother and was apart of The Temptations biopic is a great actor.I started watching him on the movie WOMEN OF BREWSTER PLACE starring Oprah Winfrey 😂 check out that movie it's a classic 💯
I love your reaction of this. And real talk bro, I’m not even joking. I grew up watching this movie since I was young (yes even The Temptations too), you might be thinking “Bruh WHY TF were you thinking?!” I never understood anything of what is happening long ago watching stuff like this, but now I’m an adult & I know now. Everything. I ain’t ashamed of myself for seeing the movie, I enjoyed this rewatching it growing up; some songs are bops, the story was good.💯
Just found your channel while looking for a reaction to The Five Heartbeats. Enjoyed watching the movie with you. Did you ever react to any of Harold Nicholas' work with his brother. If not you should react to the dancing they did in the movie Stormy Weather with Cab Calloway.🤸🏾♀️👩🏾🎓🇺🇦
11:12 Funny you mentioned lizards, because he played in the first miniseries in Television history called "V" where he and a bunch of freedom fighters are fighting lizard-like aliens.
🎬🎶 When you're on a quest for "The Five Heartbeats" and stumble upon a gem like SLK! 🌟 First reaction? Who's this young maestro diverting my movie night? But oh boy, did he bring the entertainment! 😄 Watching with you was like experiencing the movie anew-laughter, tears, and a sprinkle of dry critique. 🍿👏 and not forgetting the psychology. Rarely one to comment, but you, SLK, earned this applause. Bravo! 🎉 #UnexpectedEntertainment #MovieMagicWithSLK
The Five 🎙👨🏿💼 👨🏿💼🧑🏾💼🎙👨🏽💼👨🏾💼Heartbeats 💔 is a movie I've seen atleast 100×.........I literally know all the words to all the songs & can literally do the dialogue word for word [ basically I'm the 6th heartbeat 💓]
Man, my siblings and I still say to each other to this day “you ain’t gon be shit because I ain’t shit” in a completely joking manner because that line is sooo out of pocket 😂. Also…our dad wasn’t shit but we’ve made it.
I can show you a lot of clips to that, people used to pass out of Michael Jackson concerts all the time. Different caliber of man back then sir, can't do that with skinny jeans but back then it had skinny slacks. So I guess it just the type of material maybe... I don't know man but it did happen
lmfaoooo they didn’t say they were better than the temptations it was a set up to get the crowd against them if you notice he made them not be able to play they regular pianist and the other group was related to the announcer he tried to rig it for them
Yeah. Bird wanted that big break for his group, so to leave nothing to chance, he tries to rig the house against the Heartbeats. And that's just what was about to happen until Duck pushed that dude off the piano stool.
I know this is an old review that I am enjoying, but PLEASE don't come for Queen, Legend, Groundbreaker, & Goddess Diahann Carroll (Eleanor the manager's wife in the movie). Thelma hair & all her resume is unmatched: Carmen Jones, Julia, Claudine, Dominique Deveraux, & Whitley's mother on A Different World, Eve's Bayou, etc. Beyoncé couldn't come close to her on her very best day. Just dropping a little history!

Didn't Howard Hewitt do Duck's singing parts?
This movie still hits me hard especially the church scene.

I cried on that part fr

Duck and Tanya weren't even married yet. They were engaged. J.T. had a relationship with Tanya before she went for Duck.
