Katie's a great presenter, I love her projects and the way she presents them. This one really made me think about trying conductive thread for the first time.

Really neat idea for someone like me who has just started to learn embroidery and am just a general tech nerd. I am sure I could come up with some interesting ideas. I am in the middle of a bike camper build that is laminated with upholstery...maybe some hidden interactive embroidered "easter eggs" hidden throughout might be fun!

Hidden interactive "easter eggs" sounds brilliant, would be great to see what you do if you give it a go!

wow , that is a really differnt project! very nice, I'm sure there are a few more conductive thread projects on peoples minds now!

Loved the video, and it's a project that would fit perfectly to get my kids into these kind of creative projects

That's a brilliant new idea for me! As a computer engineer with a degree in sewing, I believe I can create a better version of this project. I would be delighted to share it with you Katie.

I'm sure there are a lot of variables, but I've had a lot of success in getting blood out of fabric just by soaking it in plain tepid water (no detergent or spot remover) and then giving it a bit of a scrub. The water should basically be body temperature, neither hot nor cold. If there's any stain left, then I try a spot remover, but it's surprising how often just the plain tepid water does the job.

That's a great suggestion, part of the issue was that as I scrubbed the fabric, the colour faded fairly quickly and I think if I'd got all the blood out it would have still be obvious where it had been.

What about a hidden drawer where you need a "pass key" ..like your planets and stars for example...have it so jf you press the stars in the right order, it unlocks a drawer or something...

So many projects set back by a single prick. I think it ended up much better.

Yes, I think it looked much better all embroidered, so in the end it turned out fine!

I would say the stains were a "happy little accident", because I think it looks better with the planet "filled" as well 😃

Cold water is the only way to get blood out, fair bit of experience

  • @RobotLovesKitten

Pro tip: if you prick your finger and bleed on the fabric your own saliva will break it down. You can lightly dab it on and then wipe it away. Then spot clean the area once the blood is gone.

    • @hifromkatie
      @hifromkatie ปีที่แล้ว

good suggestion, I should have tried that

@@hifromkatie I only know that trick from working in costume shops in college. 🤣 I love this project. It makes me want to find other applications to conductive thread.

Nice electronics. Too bad the end results look horrible. Perhaps smaller smd LEDs would work better as stars.

I can see what you mean from the pictures/video, however actually it's much better in real life. The camera has made it look like a much brighter/intense light right in the middle, whilst in real life it's a more illuminated star with a bit of light around it

@@hifromkatie Hm alright. Sometimes reality looks better than the footage indeed.
