  • Alexandria is located in the northwest part of Egypt, running alongside of the Mediterranean Sea. The city was named after Alexander the Great, who founded it during his conquest of the Persian Empire.
    - Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa -
A huge necropolis and royal cemetery. The spiral staircase down to the tombs. There are lot of floors, rooms at around a depth of 100 feet underground with a mixture of Roman and Egyptian art.
    - Pompey's Pillar -
This single column standing on a rocky hilltop in the middle of Alexandria.
Beside the monolithic column, stands the Roman copies of the Sphinx but much smaller than the well-known Great Sphinx at Giza. Underneath the column, lead to the ruins of the great temple of Serapis, the hybrid Greek and Egyptian god of Alexandria. Some of the tunnels around the complex remain and are open for tourists to explore.
