You didn't do the gestures in the right place. You did it way up by the screen and thats not where the sensors are. That's why it didn't work.

I got to go to a release event for this car. Very different then any other driving demo I've done. Champagne and Sushi after.
What an amazing car. I loved the auto lane correction. I hadn't got to drive a car with that before. Probably looked like a drunk though the way it allows you to wander and then jerk the wheel back to center. I went for about 10 miles on the freeway doing about 80 mph and never touched the wheel. It kept giving me warnings, but it kept working.
my replacement key for bmw was a 650$ from dealership it’s just a option and for a 100,000$ car they definitely should make options more budget friendly which they did and we cannot complain

I've had more luck just moving my finger around than moving my entire hand, just make the shapes with as little hand motion as possible. I got a chance to ride in one at a local auto show and tried it out there.
i am here because i got surprised by that car amount of power when i pulled with one with my car yesterday.
My all-time favorite model, I don't make huge money but I would like to get a 2006-2007 7-series. Drove a few, loved it, love the endless features, and they go for cheap now. Glad to see they've been keeping the technological momentum going for the new car. I may be looking into one of these in the distant future when used car prices go down.
Price may go down but unless there's and indie shop near you that works with bmws that maintenance is going to be as it was new
alvaro hernandez I work on my own cars, if I owned a BMW 7 series I'd do the work myself unless it truly is something a dealer needs to look at. That would cut back on at least half that cost because I know parts aren't cheap either. But I hear BMW's are relatively easy to work on, so I'm honestly not afraid of the repair bill.
+MAN_ON_WHEELZ they are easier to work on than most audis and Mercedes that's for sure.
You guys should look at the A8/S8 as well.
I have to say the interior is better than the S-Class.

that key worth 250$ for shure because you can turn on the car and heat it in winter or cool it in summer before you enter the car ..also there is self park for non US models

Only thing with the key moving the car: it helps the driver to get into tight spots, but ever think the person you are parked next to won’t have that feature, and they will have a hard time getting in without hitting your car?....nice for garage pulling in and out....

Love this car. BMW went above and beyond with it. Good night S-Class, you won't be needed anymore. Oh and, BMW's are one of the highest rated brands by Consumer Reports while they do not recommend a single Mercedes product.

Your hands were too high for the volume to work. BMW did this so people outside the car wont be able to see that you are making gestures (at them).

Well the aerodynamics do make the car faster. What I don't like are all the stupid luxury nonsense. Heated seats, massage seats, iPad like touch screen so you can controll all kinds of stupid settings that nobody is ever going to bother about. And suspension settings and what not. Sure, if you understand what all the settings are then maybe it's usefull but a lot of people just want to get in their sports car and drive. We don't want to worry about if the car is in the correct mode or whatever,

Please..... He said this wasn't a sports car. It's a luxury car for business trips. Pretty luxurious inside. It isn't meant to be a sports car, it's for luxury. Do you like Teslas? They're pretty sick. So much technology and safety.
The speakers in the S-Class also illuminate (and they are way cooler) if you pick the full Burmester Sound System.
I just don't find the styling to be as good as the S class. The 7 series from the inside, especially the center stake really does just look like a 3 or 5 series. Very nice car, but I feel the S class still holds the edge.
It's a full color nav display on HUD... you should navigate it while driving then you will see the different.

The gesture controls are not working because you have to wave your hand below the hazards and the driver assistant settings (where the sensors are located)
Just so you know, you can get paddles if you want. It's just that they are standard on the S becuase it has a column mounted shifter.
Its faster, more fuel efficient, better equipped, and much cheaper than an s550. Good job BMW.
So which is the ultimate luxury sedan, this or the s class? Solely focusing on ride quality, comfort, and technology/interior quality? I still think the s class is one step ahead in terms of luxury but i could be wrong.
seat belt alarm shut off itself after 1 min, even if you dont buckle seatbelt, only lighting warning keeps on and yes it is ultimate driving machine, all bmw comes with label with this logo on top :)

it actually has paddles, my cousin just leased one with the M package. i think its included on the M Package
They're selling about 1000 a month. The S-Class sold 2k a month when it was first released.
for the volum there is a thing you have to be right in the bottom there is where there are the lightning
for gesture control, your hand needs to be right above the gear selector
For air gesture, you have to point your finger in level with radio...
the motion control volume works best when you do it in front the volume rocker on the console

This is an awesome car, and the executive package looks great! But, for a daily driver, I would want something that looks mean and packs a hell of a lot of horsepower, AKA a GT350 :D
M5 is better more hp, AWD, family sedan with 625 nm and faster than gt350 with a tune
Just drove one 500 miles over 3 days (Turo rental with 55k). Had sport package. Overall a cool car. Being a car guy and reading/watching/listening to car reviews constantly, I must say I was a little let down by the car. The positives, a lot of features, interior lighting schemes, air ride, massaging seats, power everything, automatic everything etc. Relatively fuel efficient for what it is, and large interior space. Also leather quality seemed much better than the leather in the Japanese cars I'm used to buying. The cons- too complicated. Gotta use i-drive for a lot of stuff and it's menu after menu. Also, power is good but the sense of speed is not really exciting doesn't feel like 440hp, feels like 300 too me. The reality is you really are hauling, just cant sense it all the time. When you mash the throttle you just see the cars behind you disappearing quickly, but it's so floaty it's anti-climactic. Yet a few times it did surprise me when I hit. Ride was not as smooth as I expected based on some glowing car reviews. The rear of the car feels pinned down but the front bobbs up and down on bumps. It was pretty wallowly/sloppy. Best used as a highway cruiser. For day to day, a bit to floaty for my taste. It's a boat. Ultimately don't think it's worth 90k new, more like 50k.
Not a bad price for the keyfob considering that's less than what a majority of keyless transponders cost...
The seat belt chime is because of American Law. European cars don't chime at all until you drive away without your belt on. Apparently, we need to be reminded to buckle up every time...
i'm good with just a key with a leather end with a jagged piece of medal you put into a small rectangular metal slot and turn. I don't need it to tell me what my oil life is.... I wish BMW would make a manual 7 series...

These are so much better than the S Class. As far as the gestures go, you have to have the radio on to use them
As for the volume controling with your finger, you have to move your finger under your rear mirror where the sensor is :))

Use the "scroller" function on the steering wheel for the radio. My 2011 550i is much less complicated and still has the useful functions without the gimmicks. I'm surprised they eliminated the sport plus mode that turns off the traction control. The sport seats are the best. They keep your butt planted while being extremely comfortable. The biggest miss however is the sport steering wheel. Mercedes does a much better job.
I would have liked to see you test out the "Auto-pilot" feature.
Ummm...don't you need to...well...TURN ON the radio first before you can adjust the volume at all?

The 2016 740Le I drove had the gear paddles.. Maybe that's part of the iPerformance pack it had or something?

I love BMW, simply love them! But what scares me is all this technology going into cars; I get it though, just evolutionary awesomeness, whatever. But as one car journalist put it, these cars arent viable outside there warranties, or leases. Which is so true. One thing goes wrong with it, youll have to take out a small mortgage to afford the repairs. From an engineering standpoint, brilliant car! But Ill take a F10 M5 :)
It was nor fully in sport mode, you should have pull the transmission towards yourself, then "D" turns to "S" on the main screen.

This 750 has 445bhp while the 06 760 only had 438bhp and 444 torque. Nice improvement.
I know. I was just pointing out the increase of hp of the V8 and compared it to the 12 of 2006 which are both nice engines.

The idrive system is a lot better than what Mercedes comand has to offer, but the merc is more luxurious overall

The gesture for changing volume DOES work perfectly, you were just pointing way to high. Don't aim for the sky, but towards the climate-control panel.
