Your videos get better and better! In terms of editing, order, and pace, etc, it is obvious to me that you REALLY put attention and care into what you do here as you learn and apply what you show us over time and I for one appreciate it!
I just want to know if it's as lightweight as OBS for the PC. That was the deciding factor between OBS and SLOBS for me since I have a lower end computer
I would like to know this too. Especially since their site says the alert interactions are created live & it has all those animations. I have very poor internet speeds so I need to keep my stream very simple from a bandwidth perspective.
I just ran a streaming test to compare. I set up 2 identical scenes (1 in OBS and 1 in polypop). Both had just a cam and a screen capture and stream output at 1080p. Here's the results: OBS =============== cpu: 2.2% memory: 657 MB GPU: 40% Polypop =============== cpu: 11% memory: 313 MB GPU: 35%
I've no doubt that if you add animate 3D elements to polypop it's going to use up more resources but I'll check that another time. Only just had my first coffee of the day ☕
Also, this is for Windows ONLY. I run OBS / Streamelements on Mac. It'd be nice to have this as an alternative for MAC users too, but it's not the case.
Questions about PolyPop (unless I missed them): 1. Is it open source? 2. If not, will it remain free? 3. Will it work on Linux distributions? Great stuff. *SUBSCRIBED!*
Here to learn waiting for a video on screen recording and editing on poly. That's the only thing with it being newer not much about it yet. Nothing about screenrecord yet
I am feeding PolyPop into OBS and use the Stream Deck. It is easy to set up. Just using some basic stock PolyPop effects for now but it does liven up the PodClass for sure. Easy to use and free.
thanks for the info Michael, I thing I would get it a trial run and see if it fits my need as a streamer. and is it alright if I relink this vid to my stream when I live test?
Does it have the same massive fails? I hear streamers so often mentioning "OBS just crapped out on me," or "I got an unexpected, forced update right in the middle of trying to stream.."
@@_B.C_ I tried Polypop briefly and if you have a few things going on, it soon gets a bit intensive. That was a while back, so maybe they've worked on that in subsequent updates.
Seems like its only available for windows Is that correct? If so it would have been good to have mentioned this early on to save us Mac peeps some heartake 😉
Ok, I've watched your videos and although you are thorough and clear, I am just unable to get OBS to work right for me, so is there something I can use to create live videos that also show screenshots which is easy and free?
Absolutly. OBS is probably the most difficult to learn of all the free ones. Prism live Studio would be what you should take a look at. I have a bunch of videos on it. Here is a playlist th-cam.com/play/PLO4maup2s9t5q3JHRFYX6hTONDLjLeeD1.html
At first I was like "Meh, another windows-only program". But the text part might be useful. Wonder if I can just make stuff with it, record and use the resulting videos as effects on OBS... IF I can run it through WINE. :1
I was expecting a harsher opinion of Polypop considering it is still beta and OBS has been in development for years. Kudos on being impartial and pointing out what is good about Polylpop. There is the capability to get the same functions as OBS move transitions by animating the camera object through the Action Sequence feature. Stinger Transitions just released 4/15 as well.
I do have a question about this I've been using streamlabs and basically using remote as a stream deck to switch between scenes using my phone does Polly pop have anything like that
Is the video quality better? Obs has been struggling lately with the video quality, I tried twitch studio and the picture quality is way better, but it doesn't have as many features as obs. I'd try this app if the picture quality is better than obs while streaming.
Does polypop have window record function that will record a different window while i'm playing a game. OBS use to do this flawlessly but will no longer do it for some reason gives me blackscreens on all recordings as soon as I leave the window
Depends entirely on how much 3D stuff you jam into a scene. If you have basic setup like shown in this video, PolyPop will run pretty close to the same requirements as OBS.
@@MichaelFeyrerJr U got the point but for some reason the video is a bit to much choppy for 24fps, i felt very weird watching it. All in all great vid as always keep up the good work love seeing new ideas that u have i hope there will be much more interesting quirks to cover in obs bcs ur channel helped me a lot especially when i had my encoder overloading in windows 11 couple of videos gave me a few ideas why that could be happening... If u didn't u should make a video of possible outcomes why is overload happening :D It's a common thing to happen on rtx series cards especially 3xxx.
Imma keep an eye on this, and once transitions are added, I may switch over. Although, considering how lazy I been in regards to switching from SLOBS to OBS, I also may not, lol.
I watch all your videos and have learned a lot, but comparing a solid, finished software package like OBS to beta software Polypop is a bit unfair. Polypop is an amazing product but it's BETA, meaning it's not finished. This isn't even a 1.0 release of Polypop. Polypop doesn't use or have an open API for plugins yet. We all know Exceldro and others have made OBS a premier product. Polypop is an Up and Comer in this software catagory and in no way is on equal footing with OBS as of right now. Polypop is amazing but is in no position to even match OBS functionality. Anyone who would trade OBS for Polypop are just fans of 3D, the swap does not make good business sense and will not provide even half of what OBS can do. I use Polypop in my stream, as a source into OBS. Comparing an established software package to Beta software is unfair.

can you do screen capture with audio in it like you can with OBS although it is a bit of a faff from a DAW
how taxing on your pc is polypop , when i get home from work think im gonna test it out

I'm definitely going to have to check this out! What kind of camera would you typically use for when your streaming on Twitch?
Probably we can expect features in the Polypop will start to appear in OBS as plugins.
Maybe.

I have never had that happen. But I actually test things to be sure they work before I use them live.
Can you benchmark these two programs against each other to see which takes more resources?
No

I'm pretty entrenched. Tons of OBS plugins and Streamer bot managing it.
Which operating system do you use
I was wondering how PolyPop stacked up. I am looking at this as an option now too! Thanks for sharing your insight as always!
my problem with obs is that it takes too much cpu and ram even though its on lowest settings, so glad i found a new alternative for obs.

Is there a list of your sponsors?
In the description. Under sponsors.
Does it have capabilities to stream to tiktok?
If they share the stream key anything can stream to it. I’m guessing they don’t.
Does it have studio mode like obs?
On poly pop can I play my switch when I stream ?
Which has less lag?
OBS
Does this use a lot of CPU power??
Not really.
Does polypop have window record function that will record a different window while i'm playing a game. OBS use to do this flawlessly but will no longer do it for some reason gives me blackscreens on all recordings as soon as I leave the window

Obs to record, a camera, and an editor.

Damn shots fired on Netflix... Lol epic!
could you please give a tutorial on how to add closed captioning to a stream?
thank you
When using streamlabs my oc was using 50%+ CPU usage, OBS is using 7% what does this service use?
They are basically the same. The overlay and connections on streamlabs just have a lot of overhead. It is not well optimized.
Hello Michael, i have a question. PolyPop Live demands more Cpu/gpu use from the computer?, more than OBS?. I'ts Heavy-Use than OBs?
