Then to make matters worse most of them aren't essential. That means that these brainlets will charge in the fray and end up killing themselves making you fail the quest. The worst one is Farwill in the Cheyden hall oblivion gate. That pompus fuck isn't just arrogant and annoying but he keeps fucking dying like a goldfish with a brain tumor. The thing is you REALLY don't wanna fail this quest because of A). He's the count's son and failing it will cause his disposition with him to drop and B). The reward you get from saving that cuck is really fucking good. So here you are having to kill all the Daedra as fast as you can just so that you can wait an hour to let that asshat heal. Fucking NPC's I swear...

As someone who hates escort missions, I can tell you Ashley is nowhere near that bad unlike others she doesn’t walk in front of you she doesn’t Moves at a snails pace toward the enemies she stays behind you, is she perfect no but the only escort mission that is perfect would be Elizabeth from BioShock
I feel like the shenanigans in level design make her bad. Should the game just added a bit more hiding spaces it would have been much easier. Through the game she is always vulnerable to surprise attacks. Plagas/explosives will one shot her while making her stay far behind isn’t a good idea at all either when enemies can spawn from the entrance. Without level memorisations there is no telling when we should let her follow or stay. True her AI is quite advanced for a GameCube game but they really don’t design the game well enough to make a defenceless NPC survives. Really can’t blame Ashley alone when we are required by the game to fight multiple regenerators at once with her on our back.
for a game where your entire objective is to escort, I think Bioshock Infinite really did it perfect. Elizabeth wasn't just some cliched damsel in distress where you have to save her in every level. the fact that she actually helps the player in every combat situation, also her interaction with the player is very funny and interesting

As someone who hates escort missions, I can tell you Ashley is nowhere near that bad unlike others she doesn’t walk in front of you she doesn’t Moves at a snails pace toward the enemies she stays behind you, is she perfect no but the only escort mission that is perfect would be Elizabeth from BioShock
I feel like the shenanigans in level design make her bad. Should the game just added a bit more hiding spaces it would have been much easier. Through the game she is always vulnerable to surprise attacks. Plagas/explosives will one shot her while making her stay far behind isn’t a good idea at all either when enemies can spawn from the entrance. Without level memorisations there is no telling when we should let her follow or stay. True her AI is quite advanced for a GameCube game but they really don’t design the game well enough to make a defenceless NPC survives. Really can’t blame Ashley alone when we are required by the game to fight multiple regenerators at once with her on our back.

for a game where your entire objective is to escort, I think Bioshock Infinite really did it perfect. Elizabeth wasn't just some cliched damsel in distress where you have to save her in every level. the fact that she actually helps the player in every combat situation, also her interaction with the player is very funny and interesting
